Trash the Dress....yes or no???
MsBlissMpls replied to sojahseh81's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
We Trashed the Dress and the Suit! It was the most fun we've ever had. Only have a few sneek peak photos so far, and we turned one into the cover of our Thank You cards. Here are a few! -
How much do we tip the wedding coordinator?
MsBlissMpls replied to Michey's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
This is an interesting thread. We tipped our servers for the cocktail hour and reception very very generously. I think they probably ended up with $80-$100 each after everyone was done giving them $20 bills all night. They were AMAZING and deserved every tip they received. We were ready to tip the wedding coordinator $100-$150 but we only saw her twice for about 1 minute each on our wedding day. My husband worked so hard with little details on our wedding day because the WC was no where to be found, so we did not end up tipping her anything. It was a shame because she was a really nice person, but just not there for us when we needed her. I think she may have been attending to another bride or something, which was a big bummer for my husband who was working so hard to make sure everything was set up correctly. After wards we had decorations that were not returned to us and after 2 phone calls to the front desk (while we were staying there), we just gave up on ever getting our decorations back - we wanted to enjoy the remaining 7 days and not be worrying about getting our stuff back. This is the same coordinator that does not return emails for 2 months at a time before the wedding, so I guess I can not say that I am surprised she was not there for us in person. My advice is to follow your intuition when tipping, because a tip to this WC would have not been worth it and over tipping the wait staff felt really good. -
Hey Jass7 - We did two options with no problem, but I think you should be fine with 3 options (I've heard of some people having veggie, chx & fish options). If you want to play it safe I'd switch it to two choices, but I really don't feel that you will have a problem as long as you tell them in a spreadsheet "These are my guest names" and "This is the meal they will be eating" If you make it clear and it your group is not that large it should not be a problem. (That said, don't quote me on it if it does not go smoothly ) Also, I made a name table cards and put a different colored rhinestone on each persons card based on their food choice, On my spreadsheet I gave to Nayeli it said "pink rhinestone= fish, green rhinestone = chicken," this worked perfectly because it didn't matter where people sat as long as they have their name tag the servers knew which meal that person ordered.

I agree, we were really bummed when the Ceco was taken on our day, because the Del Sol photos that we saw made that location look so amazing, but when we got there and saw a wedding reception happening before our wedding day, we were quickly happy with the option we picked instead of the Ceco. We only had 18 ppl total, so maybe the Ceco would be perfect for a larger group, but you'd definitely need some cool lighting & the lite dance floor to set the mood for that area. Check out some of the Del Sol photos to get a good idea of what the cocktail & reception can look like. It can be pretty spectacular, but it takes some extra effort & decor- from what I've seen.

I LOVE this dress on you. Very stunning!!! It fits so nice for your first time trying it on! The belt and the ruffles on the bottom are really great details. -
So excited to post a few of our happiest photos! After so much waiting and imagining this moment this was when my husband first saw me... And when I first saw him... And when I first met him at the alter we almost leaned in and kissed (because it's so natural), but we had to stop and he kissed my hand instead It was funny and cute in that moment and we bring it up often. Right after the ceremony we were all smiles. Two days after our wedding we did a TTD with Del Sol and we still had smiles plastered on our faces... you can't see his, but he was smiling too! and I love the feel of this photo

Congrats!! We used a Bose system and it worked great. However, I'm not sure how the acoustics would work at the CECO terrace, I think it is more open so the sound may drift away rather than echo in your dance area. Our dance area for 18 ppl was smaller and the Bose worked perfect with the sound being really loud and bouncing off the building. Outside of the sound it might have been a relief for my husband to not have to think about or worry about the music for dinner and the dancing. So, I'd say 'go for it' with the DJ - any extra help you can get to help you guys relax is going to be worth it. We had our cocktail reception at the X-lounge and it was perfect. I haven't heard of many people talking about a reception at the CECO. Happy planning!

Thought this would be kind of funny to show you ladies. This was the "front" of our cake when they brought it out. As you can see the frosting on the 2nd tier was melting down and kind of sad looking. I was kind of in shock at how sad it looked and could have easily gotten upset (seriously how could they bring the melty cake out and think we were going to be happy with it?) I quickly turned the topper around and added a few roses from our centerpieces to hide some of the additional melting frosting on the "new" front side. And ended up with this: I'm sure I could have done a better job and added a ton more flowers or something, but we were kind of in a hurry because our 8 hours for the photographer was already expired and I really wanted to get a professional shot of our cake topper. (FYI - it took forever to get the cake, they say that they are going to bring it as you are eating dinner - and it is always 5 minutes away, but it came much much later than that. I'd ask for it almost right away when your reception starts). It was not exactly what we had in mind and looked only 20% like the photo that we gave as inspiration, but I'm guessing that Nayeli never probably gave the baker the inspiration photo to reference. Also, I gave N. a thicker green ribbon for the cake (like in the inspiration photo), but she chose to give them the thin ribbon that was supposed to be used for something else - and we never got that new spool of thick green ribbon back! On the plus side it was VERY tasty! and apparently it was one of the last cakes made where they did not charge an extra fee for the extra tiers - that being said, maybe when they charge you extra for the tiers more care will be taken to make sure it looks like what you want. If you do end up paying for extra tiers I would make sure it does not come out like how our cake came out because it would not be work the extra $90-$100 if it came out looking like that. Here was the cake photo that we gave N. as inspiration. You make the call on how close it looked .

Oh no. So sorry to hear that Ally That is not how you want to end your trip. I'm sure it will be reversed because everything I read said that 7 nights in the excellence club ocean front room would give you a complimentary love package. Glad you had a good trip other than checkout. What did they say to you about not getting a reception except dinner? Did you have a DJ set up or were you going to dance to ipod music? Welcome back Mrs!

My dress is was better than new after the underwater shoot. It is currently at the cleaners, but even the cleaner gave me a discount because my dress was "cleaner than most of the dresses she sees - and it would be less work" - it made me laugh because most of the dresses she sees do not have the adventure that my dress had! -

Thank you all for your kind words It really makes me smile to be a part of this site! My dress is a synthetic organza. It is really light and not heavy at all. I was not hot because it was really breezy on the beach, but there were a few moments when we were dancing that I picked up my skirt and gave my legs some air, after a minute or two I was good as new. -
We used Adrian Herrea and Hiram (from their office) has been amazing to work with. Just recently Victor has also been helping to answer my post-production questions. They have always answered within 24 hours but usually within 12 hours. The night before we left for Mexico I emailed them with a pay pal question and they responded right away and then about 6 more times that night (10pm) helping me figure stuff out. They are by far the best communicators I've had the pleasure of working with through this whole experience.

Yes, we were going to do it ahead of time but time ran out because we were so busy before Mexico. We had the marriage license already so all we needed was a 5-10 minute meeting to sign the papers with our witnesses. We didn't realize this ahead of time but it was cool to do it after wards (for us), the paperwork signing felt like an extention of our Mexico celebration instead of having our Mexico wedding be a symbol of our courthouse paper signing. It's all subjective.

Very cool! Check out this site. If you click on "find a store near you" it will post all the local stores that carry Allure (and possibly have a sample of this dress). http://www.theknot.com/wedding-dress/allure-bridals/8862?PgReferrer=cse -
We did a symbolic ceremony in Mexico and did the legal paperwork back home afterwards. You will need to use a judge or minister from Mexico to have a legal ceremony in Mexico. We followed the more traditional Mexican wedding format where they have 2 weddings, 1 symbolic (which is the most important) and the 2nd which is legal (and just the paperwork). - Of course it's all a matte of preference, and what you are comfortable with. We wouldn't have done it any other way

Thanks MissBubbles205! I've said it so many times.. I will never get tired of hearing about my dress! I love it so much I tried on SO many dresses and really thought I would get a mermaid styled one, but this one accented my smallest feature which is my waist (the criss cross top with the attention on the oblique rhinestones accented my best feature) and helped to hide my thickest part (my hips and thighs). Also I was told this was a good style on me because I'm short and the mermaid style was just making me look more short and bringing attention to my wide hips (that's where the mermaid portion ended on my body). There are a couple of other really cute Allure dresses with a similar cut top, but those tops do not have the criss cross top which leads the eyes down to the waist or the oblique rhinestones. Depending on what your most awesome feature is, one of those might be gorgeous on you as well Happy Dress hunting!! -

A few things were not returned (and a few decorations were never even put up or returned to me, and they were new because they were not used). Not a super big deal, but it was disappointing considering I paid for them and brought them all the way down to Mexico. I'm finally getting over it now (1 month later). Just glad nothing major was misplaced. -

I put the brooch on after they delivered the flowers (with decorations getting lost at the resort I'm glad I did it myself). -
