Hi! ThomasK I believe Murmel gave you a very detailed explanation on the beach/ocean area. Unfortunately, it is rocky and nothing to brag about. I did a site tour of Azul Sensatori around fall of last year and I did smell something funny. I only smelled it in the Premier Swim-Up section and it was ONLY at night. When I asked one of the staff what that smell was, they said it was the mosquito spray that gets turned on at night to keep the mosquitoes away. I will say I did not get bitten at all during my stay and if it has to smell a bit funny to keep those pesty things away then so be it. Every other aspect of Azul is amazing! You should visit this website, which would really help you with the different packages and costs and extras you might want to add.... http://www.weddingscaribbeans.com/hotels/ Hope this helps and happy planning!! Quote: Originally Posted by ThomasK Hello all, I actually am the groom-to-be and my fiancé Jessica and I have recently began setting our eyes on the Azul Sensatori resort. This forum is so vastand in-depth I truly do not know where to begin. A few questions/concerns we had were: Is the beach/ocean truly un-swimable? I've been reading even with excellent reviews that the ocean is overrun with seaweed and rock making the desire to swim less than stellar. The swim-up suites by the pool: in theory, these look awesome to me. I was in a wedding in punta Cana this past July and I remembered the hotel having these sites and I thought how convenient and cool the looked so when I saw that Azul Sensatori has them I immediately got excited. I've been treading though that a major issue with these suites is that they are swamped w mosquitos and a pretty awful smell that carries over into the rooms. Reception fees: we are expecting between 40-50 people attending our ceremony and all of our friends/family are pretty big drinkers (ha) so we wanted to look into possibly reserving one of the restaurants for dinner after the ceremony and then just go to one of the bars for drinks. Is there anything they have set up for dancing or no? Ideally we would just bring one of our iPhones and plug it into a speaker system if possible? Another idea reception wise (again something I experienced in punta Cana) was to just rent a boat/yacht that would take us somewhere in the ocean and have a meal/drinks/swimming then return to te resort later and continue the fun at one of the bars - has anyone looked into this option or know where to look? We currently are going through a TA who is stating they will handle every detail but I still like to research this information for myself. I apologize if these questions have already been asked but thank you for any and all information! It is truly, truly, TRULY appreciated!

I totally agree w/you..it was so confusing. My FI and I had a sampling of the family style dinner while we were down in Azul and fell in love with the plentiful of food and the quality of food. We really wanted our guests to walk away thinking "omg...there was so much food". We have a lot of italians in my group so having a lot of food was important to us. Everything they list on the family style menu is EVERYTHING that will be placed on each table for everyone to eat. Same goes for dessert. Since there will be so much dessert we are opting for a very small cake...really only for pic purposes.

When you sent the money you received the MTCN #, right? Did you give that # to Doremixx? They need that # in order to retrieve your payment on their end. Once they receive it, they will confirm w/you the payment. I think after i sent them the email w/the MTCN#, the emailed me back either the following day or day after. Don't worry...they are legit.

Hi! Krysta. Welcome! When I posted the same question, I was given the following photographers who came highly recommended by the other brides: Del Sol Photography, Ivan Luckie, Taylor Jackson and Elizabeth Media. I decided on Elizabeth Medina b/c i fell in love with her pictures. She is pricey but I did not mind b/c pictures are really important to me. So, definitely look at each of their websites to see their work and even send them all emails asking questions and their prices. Here is Elizabeth Medina's website if you would like to check out her work: http://www.elizabethmedinaphotography.com/

Missmely - I tried paying through the Western Union website but was unsuccessful b/c I needed a PIN#. After I set-up my online account and spoke to a representative i still never received a PIn#, so i gave up. I just brought the cash to a local Western Union store. Make sure you have Ivan's information (full name, paternal and maternal name, including city and state). After my transfer was sent through, the person at Western Union gave me a 10 digit MTCN #. I then gave this 10 digit # to Ivan. Then the following day, I received an email confirming payment and date. So, don't worry..it is legit! Thank god for all the brides here to reassure me that i was not getting ripped off.

I know it must be tough but try not to cave in especially if this is what you and your FI want to do...this is about you and him! no one else!! We are here to support you all the way!! Hi! I would recommend visiting Azul Sensatori to be sure this resort is the right fit for you. Also, check out this site http://www.weddingscaribbeans.com/ so you have an idea of the costs...of course if you have any specific questions, you can post on this thread! This has been a life saver to me.....

Congrats to you and the other november brides....hummm...where is that list...its been awhile since we have seen it! Can't wait to hear about your wonderful wedding! I am sure everything will be perfect! Just remember to breathe! lol Does anyone know how to get in touch with DJ Doremixx? I think he is on facebook but i was wondering if anyone had an email address for him? Thank you in advance!

MWise17 - Thank you sooo much for the pics of smores bonfire! I will def be adding this. Greatly appreciated your input & review!! kazala - MWise17 is correct. If you use outside vendors, it is either $800 vendor fee which goes to AS, OR, stay for min. of 3 nights, which means you add them to your guest list. I just informed my WC that I will be using DJ Doremixx and Playa Weddings (videographer) and i have to pay $800 vendor fee for both of them, so total $1,600. As for my photographer, i am using Elizabeth Medina, and I am adding her to my guest list. The vendor fee is extremely high but I think worth it b/c there were such GREAT reviews on these vendors. Good luck!! One more thing...you should make sure this $800 vendor fee does not increase in 2013!

If you were to do it all over again, would you do anything differently? As for the Smores party, we were also going to plan this for our guests. My WC sent me this power point outling what the smore package included. I am confused about 1 item listed "Prize: traditional Mexican sweets and souvenirs". What is this? I asked my WC and she has not gotten back to me. Did you notice any sweets or souvenirs? Do you have pics of this setup? sorry i am asking so many questions. I guess I am not sure if its worth the money... thank you in advance!!

Hi! Michelle - Welcome! I finally figured out my photographer, but I am still having trouble on videographer and DJ. Any suggestions?? I was thinking about using the on-site DJ. Has anyone heard of any negative things? I recall a bride using DJ Doremixx (?) Was he any good? Is he a preferred vendor? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi! Caroline How exciting! You are going to love it. I did a dress rehearsal at Azul Senastori the weekend of Sept 23. I did the site tour on Friday, then menu & cake tasting on Saturday. I definitely recommend making reservations for Le Chique at Azul Sensatori if that is where you are staying. It is very interesting and worth trying out! Also, you should check out this website for the different wedding packages and extra add on stuff. This way you are more prepared. I def wish I knew about this site before my trip. I also recommend knowing ahead of time which other resorts you would like to visit. This way you can let them know as soon as you arrive. Make sure to try out all restaurants (i wish i did) and ask as many questions. Hope this helps! http://www.weddingscaribbeans.com/

Hi! Caroline - I booked a dress rehearsal through my TA back in September. It is basically a site tour plus menu tasting and wedding cake tasting. If you are staying Azul Sensatori, I highly recommend making reservations at Le Chique as soon as you arrive. This is the only restaurant at AS that requires reservations. I landed on a Thursday, did a site tour of AS on Friday, and then on Saturday i was taken to El Dorado Royale for menu and wedding cake tasting. Even if you are unable to do the tasting, trust me you won't be disappointed. I wish i had planned my trip a bit better b/c i did not eat at all the restaurants at AS. Although, I am having my wedding at AS, I now wish I did a tour of the other Karisma hotels (El Doryado Royale, Azul Beach, etc). It would have been nice just to see. Also, I would recommend reviewing their wedding packages and the other extra stuff that way you are more prepared with questions. Visit their site http://www.weddingscaribbeans.com/ I def wish I knew about this site before my trip. Good luck and ask as many questions as you would like! They are extremely nice! I hope this was helpful. Quote: Originally Posted by Caroline1118 Hi ladies, My site visit is coming up very soon --- the week of November 1 (very excited!). I'm very excited for the trip, but am so nervous that I'm going to forgot to ask important questions while I'm there. Any suggestions about questions that I should definitely make sure to ask during the site visit? Would appreciate any input from former or 'soon to be' brides! Thanks so much, ladies! -Caroline

Hi! Ladies - Like some of you I have also been reading your posts for sometime and would like to finally introduce myself to the group. I am getting married at Azul Sensatori on Nov 10, 2012 and just put my deposit down. Are there any brides from NY? I know I do have time, but I would really like to nail down my photographer/videographer. I don't mean to ask a dumb question as I am sooo new to this stuff, but does a photographer normally bring a videographer? Or is the videographer completely separate? I feel this is one of the most important parts of the wedding and I am willing to pay a little more and save on other stuff. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your help and guidance!! And congrats to EVERYONE!!!! One last thing, not sure if anyone is having a cigar roller, but this is very important to my fiance. I believe it is $400 for 2 hours (?). They only roll Cuban cigars for 1/2 the time. But my fiance wants all Cuban. I have asked how much this would be and I am waiting on an answer. Once I know, I will post that info.
