  1. Thanks Abbie! I thought they were pretty cute too. You could even pick a real flower at the resort and tuck that in the box and lay the ring in the centre - fresh flowers!!
  2. Hi All, I thought I'd share my super quick DIY for my ring bearers. Since we're having 2 (my nephews) I wanted them each to have something to carry and when I looked at buying things from various places, it seemed a little ridiculous to spend much on two somethings that will be used for about 1 minute and I can't really do anything with them later. I basically just wanted something that would look cute in pictures and I think I got that! The little round box is just from Michaels ($1.49, it's just really thin wood), bought some ivory paint, and a flower from Michaels too. Cost about $8 for 2 and took about 10 minutes - once I decided which flower I liked best! It also kinda looks cute with the big flower stuff inside the bottom! We'll fill the base with sand from the beach that we're getting married at and put one ring (fake) in each box. Super simple, but I like it!
  3. Hi Ladies, We are not using Diego (we're going with Florian at Video Punta Cana), but I noticed a post on the facebook group for the Majestic Colonial brides where there was a bride who found out 3 weeks before her wedding that her date wasn't reserved even though she had received a confirmation email. This is probably a one-off occurrence, but I thought I'd let you know. I've posted a link to the comments if anyone wants to check it out. Cores said it was a mixup and I'm not really sure what happened in the end - probably a little undue stress for the bride though!
  4. This resort is on sale right now! 30% off! (on the resort website). We're booking here for our honeymoon week - looks amazing! Just thought i'd share the sale info!
  5. Hi Funsocks! I just had to comment because I feel the same way!! I know what photos you mean with the people leaning towards one another with a spotlight behind and hands on hip. Not my cup of tea!! Although others seem to be pretty wild about them. To each their own I guess! We are going with K A T Y A Nova as well (I don't understand why this blog stars out her first name so I have separated the letters in case some people don't know who we're talking about). I love her photojournalistic style and can't wait to see the pics that we'll get!! Her work is pricey, but I would suggest contacting her anyways and seeing what she can do for you. That's what I did and we're super pleased with the package we worked out. Another photographer that has a similar style is Karina Jensen. We were originally going to book her, but missed our opportunity. I haven't seen that many reviews of her, but her work is really great and her prices quite reasonable I think.
  6. Yes, the open bar is based on a per hour rate (just like the resorts - or at least the one we're staying at!), but you can also do your drinks a la carte if you wish where you pay per drink and get a final bill at the end of the night. Could be worth it if you don't have big drinkers in attendance or a relatively small party.
  7. Hi Lauren, Back on page 52 of this thread megsosborn has typed out her song list. It might be a start for you if you don't get any emails from people. Hope that helps!
  8. I don't think there is an updated list... I'm getting married in November and I think I have the same price list.
  9. Thanks for the post! And it's good to know that Mayte would prefer to answer questions a few at a time. I've wondered what is easier for her, so thanks!
  10. Congratulations Kellygrrrl! You really look amazing! And thanks for posting those pictures - they are super motivating! My FI and I are on our recovery week right now and then on to Month 2! I'm amazed that we've stuck with it (all due to him really!) and we've been following the nutrition plan too, which is even more unbelievable (i'm usually super terrible with things like that so it shows you that is actually pretty easy to follow). The recipes are all quite easy and we honestly haven't really had one that we don't like - not bad! We have taken a page out of Body for Life and give ourselves one cheat day or meal a week (we strive for only one, but it's hard with social engagements and such, but the most we do is about 2 so I think we're doing pretty well). All in all I've lost about 5 pounds and about 5" total. I pretty much lost all the weight in the beginning and was getting a bit frustrated, but I compared my inches the other day and was satisfied that I'm down in all the places - yay! I think I'm just putting on muscle now (at least that's what I hope!). One thing I'd say is to only measure/weigh yourself every 2 weeks. Healthy weight loss is only 1-2 lbs per week and it's easy to get discouraged when you see the scale has only moved one marking... save it up over 2 weeks and you'll feel more motivated. Are any other ladies out there still working through Insanity? I think I might have some motivation to take some midpoint pics now and scrutinize for differences!
  11. Anyone know how many wait staff/kitchen staff/bartenders there are at JF? just trying to figure out our tipping budget and it would be helpful to know! Thanks!
  12. Ours is pretty simple, but I love it so I thought I'd post! Best part is, it was only $3.49 - from Michaels and it was just what I was looking for. I've also posted our inspiration pic for our cake. Simple, but pretty
  13. I heard from her over the weekend! It took about 3-4 weeks for her to reply because she's just so crazy busy. As a side note, a few people have been concerned about getting their deposit in in order to be sure their date is confirmed. My experience has been that you don't need a deposit in order for your date to be yours. Once Mayte emails you to tell you it's available and you say yes, it's yours! For example, I emailed her last October to check if our date was available, it was, we decided to take it, but didn't really start any planning or make an attempt to do a pre-invoice for months (busy with school . Back in February, Mayte had another bride enquire about our date and she told the other bride that I had reserved it, but she hadn't heard from me in a bit, so she would confirm with me that we still wanted it. She sent me an email and we replied with an emphatic yes! we still wanted the date! and she offered an alternate date to the other bride. We're just working on our pre-invoice now because I wanted to get a clearer idea of costs. So, for those who are concerned, don't worry about not having put down a deposit - your date will be reserved for you!
  14. Hi April! I think I can answer a couple of the questions at least! The $500 for the ceremony includes all the decorations that you listed, for a maximum of 50 people. For more than 50 it's about $10 extra per person or so. It's basically the same for the reception decorations (up to 50 people). I don't believe that number includes fresh flower centrepieces - I think they're silk at that price. I'm not 100% positive about music for the ceremony... I guess that's something I'd like to know too! I think that if you're getting the sound system for the reception it includes the ceremony too - can anyone confirm that? I believe a legal ceremony involves a $580 fee for the judge, not sure about the requirements/costs for a religious ceremony though and if you need a judge for that as well. From what I've heard/read, the 3 business days is not a legal requirement (like it is in places like Mexico), it's just put in place by the resorts so that they can be sure that they have enough time before the wedding day to meet with the bride and groom and make sure everything is set up properly. And sundays are the day off for the coordinators. Hope that's a start!
  15. Thanks Venus! That's what I figured as well, but I just thought I'd check. And you were able to arrange two bus trips at different times, that's great. We will likely do the same. Thanks again, Mimi
  16. Hi Venus, Just a quick question for you about your quote. I just got mine from Mayte and we're super happy with it, but I noticed that transportation was $7 instead of the $6 that I thought it was going to be and I remembered your note about that. It's totally not a big deal because our quote was actually lower than expected, but I just wondered if your quote ended up staying at $7 or if it was changed at all. So excited for november!! mimi
  17. Not sure what the official number is, but I think the downstairs can fit about 100? If you have more than that, you could split people up and have some upstairs (although I'm sure that's not ideal). We're looking at about 70ish people ourselves and I don't think they'll be a problem with us all fitting. Hope that helps!
  18. Thanks! It looks like it's from 2009. I'll check if it's different from what AquaCait sends me. Thanks everyone!
