Hi All, I'm not quite done my project (need to sit down with the fiance and pick which one we like best!), but have had so much fun putting this together that I have to share! I'm planning on doing a welcome letter using vistaprint's rack cards and putting a wedding timeline on the back side. I loved the pics that I had seen online of these, but couldn't find any free clip art websites until I stumbled across www.clker.com. There are a ton of different images and you can edit them right on the web! It's amazing! It took me a few minutes to work out how the editor works. Once I discovered that the objects were grouped (like you can in powerpoint), it was much easier. There are lots of different colour effects that you can do too! So, here's a few pics of the front side of the welcome card and the wedding time line that will go on the back. All custom coloured and matching! Not sure which front I like best... will discuss with FH, but any thoughts? I'm kinda partial to the bright orange one, but maybe it's too much?

No, it's not air conditioned, but it is open air (they can raise or lower the sail-like walls - does that make any sense?!?). Yes, you can rent just the downstairs and I believe it is $500.

Punta Cana Photographers?
mimiq replied to smrstars's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Hi! I had the exact same thoughts - their work is similar. I had tentatively booked with Karina, but due to a mix up (which was entirely my fault) we ended up losing her. I'm honestly not a fan of some of the other popular photographers around, but loved K.N.'s work. I knew she was too pricey for me, but thought I'd get in touch anyways because we were in a bit of a bind and we were able to work out something that works for both of us. When I said that she was out of my budget she asked what worked in my budget and I told her that and what i was willing to give up (i'm okay with only having one photographer and not having the day covered from the moment i wake up till the moment we fall asleep! -
Oh, one more question! Did you get your hair and makeup done at the ME? Who did you book your appointment through? Thanks!!

Ok, that's too funny that your colours were orange and blue - so are ours! The similarity continues! So now I want to see basically everything! Do you have any pics that highlight the different decor that you had (basic ceremony, entrance table, centrepieces, cake table, etc?) I'd love to see your flowers too. Could I ask what your name is on the facebook page? That might help me find your pics! If you don't mind sharing, I'd love to see a couple of your first look pics too... just to get an idea of what it would look like at the JF. Yes, getting ready shots are of low priority for me too (good idea to have a friend take some while you get ready though). Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts about the first look. I am leaning more towards this option, especially after your thoughts. I like the tradition of not seeing each other, but I am more tempted by the special moment that is just the two of you. Thin it might help make me less emotional during the ceremony (i'm a crier!). Thanks for the tips about the transportation home. It's been a concern of ours as well and it's good to know that they have vans available too instead of just the big bus. Did you decide on the 12:30 departure before the wedding day itself? Would it have been easy to arrange for a cab? I'm guessing that you could ask Mayte to call one and slip her the payment? Sorry for all the questions! This is sooo helpful though!!

Thanks so much for the great review!! It's super helpful to me because we are also staying at the ME, have about 75 guests, are using Rick York and ***** Nova (K A T Y A - I don't know why this site stars out her name?!) is our photograher! I have a few questions if that's okay! I assume that you got all ready at the resort and then went over to the JF and had ***** meet you there? Did you put your dress on and everything too? Did you have ***** take any pics of the getting ready process? We are still not settled yet on whether or not to do a first look... I am tempted though! What made you so glad that you did one? With so many guests, were they able to pick everyone up at the same time or did they have to do 2 trips? Also, how did you set it up for going back to the resort? Did everyone stick around until 1:00? For the welcome appis and drink that you organized at the ME, did you do that through their wedding coordinator or the groups department? I looked for some picks on the facebook page, but couldn't tell which ones were yours - what were your colours? I would love to see any that you're willing to post! I'd love to see any pics of your flowers. thanks again and congratulations!!

Thanks Blujaye! So glad my post helped someone! It's definitely easy to do yourself and I'm not really super crafty, just kinda crafty . Mine may not have the perfectly crisp edges of vinyl letters (although you can buy just vinyl letters on etsy too), but I like that when I look at it, I know that I made it! The fonts I used were all free (not sure which website I got them from though, but should be easy to find them I think!). The font for "Here comes the bride" was called Joyful Juliana, for "and they lived" was Andalus, and "happily ever after" was Scriptina. I definitely made sure that the paint was dried when I transferred the letters to the board. I wasn't sure if my homemade carbon copy trick would work, but it totally did! If there's anything else, just ask!

Hi Ladies, Well I completed another DIY project this weekend and thought I'd share! I wanted one of those "Here comes the bride/Happily ever after" signs, but by the time I got it double sided and paid for shipping it was about $40 and that seemed like a lot for something I could make myself so I thought I'd give it a go! I think it turned out pretty well and only cost me about $5! For the board, I just went to my local Rona (hardware store) and they usually have an area where they keep odd ends from cuts made with the table saw. This piece of MDF was about the right size and priced at $0.50 - perfect! I then picked up a sample can of paint from Home Depot (you know the $5 sample cans?), one of the ones that is primer and paint together, in an ivory shade. For the lettering, I played around with different fonts in Word until I found one I liked (kinda liked the idea of somewhat child-like writing because my two little nieces will be carrying it). Found a great tip from another website (can't remember which - sorry!), but I printed out the text and then rubbed over the backside of the paper with a pencil, around the letters to make my own kind of carbon copy paper. You then lay the text over the sign, trace out the letters and the graphite is transferred onto the sign so you have a guideline - genius! I outlined the letters with a black sharpie so that I didn't have to be so exact with the paint edges, and then filled it in with a black metallic coloured paint. And I'm pretty happy with the results! Oh, I also screwed in a couple of eye hooks to the top so that I can attach a ribbon. And that's pretty much it! Hope someone else finds that helpful!
