Samuel Luna Photography Contest - Free Wedding Photography! [CLOSED]
Teenyclt replied to alyssaw's topic in BDW Contests
Wedding photography is so very important to us. We have family and friends all over the country that will not be able to attend our destination wedding. Our wedding photographs are the only way for us to document how special this day is and to capture all of the love and emotion that is present on that day. These photos can document all of the special little moments that happen that stories cannot do justice. When we get home from our wedding, these pictures have to serve as illustrators of everything that was felt between us as well as all of our guests watching us take this enormous step in our life. We want these pictures to be amazing and be true representations of the mood of our wedding day. Unlike a traditional wedding, destination couples really can't take home many items that end up holding sentiment from their wedding day, so these pictures are the ultimate take home memory. We want to be able to look back at these pictures and be able to relive every amazing moment of our wedding day. -

Has anyone had a legal ceremony here or is anyone planning on a legal ceremony? Just trying to get an idea of what it is like and what to expect. As of right now, we are planning on a legal ceremony. I am just nervous about what it is like since I heard it is in all Spanish and that people have had issues filing their paperwork once they get back home. -

Thanks a bunch for the info! It is super helpful! I hate that that the Miami office is such a trainwreck and has no idea whats going on. -

Congrats on your wedding!! A few questions... Were you charged for bringing your own decorations and having your family set them up? I asked my planner about it and was told that I would be charged a large fee for doing this and that having anyone but the staff set up decor was not allowed. Did you ask for the room upgrade or did they just upgrade you on their own? Did you have a legal ceremony or a symbolic? I am planning on a legal ceremony and am trying to find out more details about it. Thanks! -

Ladies, I am trying to decide if I want to make appointments to have my hair or make up done by the salon or if i should have a friend do them for me. Has anyone that has been married here have any advice or experience with this? Have any of you ladies seen pictures or heard anything about the work they do? I would appreciate any info! Thanks! -

Wow well that's nice to know that Maylen is no longer there considering she is supposed to be our planner as well. So nice of them to let us know. Do you know who is taking over for her? Their lack of communication is beyond frustrating. I mean I would be happy if someone simply emailed me to acknowledge they had received an email or call from me even if they weren't able to answer my question at that time. Yes unfortunately it is all in Spanish. I found that out in my one and only conference call. Renee informed that the only thing you apparently get to say is either "yes" or "I do" Which bummed us out because I really wanted to repeat our vows. Our way around that is having a friend get up and say a little something in English and maybe saying our vows in English during this time. -

I am a USA bride and am doing a civil ceremony. Renee sent over a whole page of paperwork that is required for the civil ceremony. It is a 500 charge and you have to have all documents sent off to the Dominican Consulate to be translated. You then have to send that over to her before your arrival and bring all originals (translated and in English) with you. The ceremony is also performed in Spanish. The wedding coordinators are available to translate for you at no extra cost. You are also allowed to have someone get up and speak at some point if you would like certain things said in English. The symbolic ceremony seems wayyyy easier but my fiance and I didn't like the idea of getting married before we got down there and having just a symbolic ceremony. I hate to add to the list of things that have changed with the new "transition" but I just read today on the Hard Rock facebook page that now when you use your "free" resort credits you will be taxed 16% on whatever you use and it will be added to your final bill. SO the free credits are basically no longer free which is absolutely ridiculous. I called my travel agent today and she is calling to look into this. -

I would recommend using a travel agent. I am currently using one and find it very helpful especially considering it is so difficult to get a hold of anyone. It just makes it easier to have another person whose sole purpose is to help you organize and plan and that also has had experience dealing with the resorts. She is the one who got our contracts to us and got everything set up and locked down for our date and it seemed to happen pretty fast. -

Yes we signed our contract last year so we don't fall under the new ruling of the function time constraints. She didnt even mention a fee when I spoke to her but i asked anyway because I had seen many ladies having issues with it. She said we would not be charged for the extra hour. I think that having someone stand at the ailse and hand out programs is what I will end up doing because I am not paying $200+ for someone to do that for me. Teh set up fees are outrageous. Renee told me that she was only handling weddings that were booked from the 15th of each month to the end of the month fro now on. Maylen is the one handling our wedding now even though Renee is the one that still responds to everything so I don't know whats going on with that. I agree that keeping in touch is super helpful, so I will keep you updated with anything I find out. Thanks! -

r and k 2012 Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner! I had a conference with Renee on Tuesday. We are having our ceremony at 2pm. We havent decided which beach location we would prefer yet. After speaking with Renee we decided to do our cockatil reception at 4pm followed by our reception from 5-8. Then our plan is to have all of our guests get comfortable if they choose to and head to a bar or the club. Our plan is to have every event outside but are waiting on a few more pictures to be sent before we decide which location we want for each. As of right now it looks like we have a little over 100 people with deposits down...we def were not planning on that many attending lol. So we do qualify for the unlimited functions. I have the same concern as you about the weather and it being windy or cold for outside events. I am not sure what to expect in terms of weather so I plan on researching that. I will def make sure to bring all documents to ensure they dont try to change the rules or throw extra charges in there anywhere so thanks for that info. We do plan on using the in house photographer. What is your plan for that? I was unaware that they charge for every chair over 30 with the complimentary package. I dont know if you have heard the same thing. Renee also told me that they charge to set up any decoration that you bring yourself. $200 to set up ceremony decor and $100 per table for reception decor and only staff is allowed to set up any decorations. I dont know if anyone has any info on this because I havent seen this info before. Are you going with a decoration package or do you plan on bringing things yourself? Also, Renee informed me that she is no longer handling our wedding because she will only handle weddings from the 16th to the end of the month for the Hard Rock. Were you told the same? Have you spoken to her since your conference? Thanks! -

r and k 2012 What time is your ceremony scheduled for? We have a 2pm ceremony and I am trying to figure out what to have guests do until dinner little later on. You seem to have had more contact with the planners, so I was wondering if you knew of some options? Thanks! -

r and k 2012 I am just wondering how you were able to speak to a wedding coordinator already? I have been told everytime I ask that I wont be able to speak to one until 3-6 months out and its freaking me out! How do I go about getting in touch with one? thanks! -

Hi r and k 2012! So nice to have another bride share the same day! We are staying from the 5th or 6th (haven't decided yet) until the 15th. I also still have many questions so I would greatly appreciate any help you could offer. I am happy to help with any questions and relay any information that I get to you. We are working with a great travel agent who is really good about getting information from the resort in a timely manner. She is also going to do a site visit this month and do some research for us so hopefuly we will get some new info. Hope your planning is going well!
