  1. Have you talked to your WC about this situation? Usually, resorts can provide witnesses if needed so don't stress!
  2. Hi Krysta!! I checked out his website, and he has some really nice shots in there! Also, you can always have a rock the dress session in your hometown if your not completely satisfied with your pictures. I came across this photographer when I was looking for one myself. She is trying to expend her destination photography and is offering free wedding photography if you pay for her travels. Here's her website: http://www.monica-salazar.com/destination-weddings-promotion-destination-weddings-photographers-dallas-wedding-photographer-texas-fort-worth/ Hope this helps!
  3. Ladies are you bringing a lot of decor with you? My list of decor keeps getting bigger . Also, what are you guys doing for guest favors? I was thinking since I'm arriving a few days before my wedding I would go into town and buy picture frames for my guests.
  4. I loooove Beyond the Rack!! Its such a great way to get designer stuff for sooooo much less!! Definitely recommend for those of you who haven't checked them out
  5. Sunshine2680- I loooove those lanterns! Aquamaniac- Were getting married on the Beach in the Akumal section (the hammock.. I think that's what its called). How about you?!
  6. Thanks!! I'm really considering doing a poolside reception ever since your post. We have about 30 people coming right now, and it would be so great to have the privacy and to decorate it the way you want to. Are you hiring a DJ or using Ipod?
  7. You must be getting so excited!!! My wedding date is May 22, 2012. Are you all set to go? lol. Can't wait to see your wedding pics!!
  8. I'm sad to find out that we can't do Sky Lanterns at our resort. Is anyone doing "floating lanterns"? Apparently that is allowed
  9. Past brides, I need your help!!! I'm thinking about getting married in the Akumal section at the Hammock. Just wondering if the sun got in your eyes during the ceremony? I'm afraid to get squinty eyes . Thanks in advance!
  10. Thanks for letting us know. Now, i'll have to think about another idea... haven't thought about the "floating lanterns". Does anyone know if you bring down lanterns for the reception, will the resort set that up for you? Just curious, is everyone mostly doing a restaurant reception follow by a pool reception?
  11. You look so gorgeous!! Looove the dress!! Eeek can't wait to get mine now
  12. There's a bride that has a video of the sky lanterns in her wedding video. Check out this forum and her video... its so cute!! Gets me excited for my wedding . Hope our resort will allow this!! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/75365/our-dreams-los-cabos-wedding-highlight-video
  13. Their all gorgeous!!! But I love the second one, mostly because I'm a big fan of lace! It's very elegant looking. Have you had a chance to try any of these on? Or dresses similar to the these?
  14. Thanks Torilynnsmith!! FI and I will need to sit down and write down a list of what we want. Would love to find a photographer to take pics all week long. Also, looooved the DIY tissue pomander balls link! I think I will try to make them this weekend
  15. Does anyone if the resort will set up the centerpeices at the restaurants if you bring them down? Or would you have to do it yourself?
  16. Awww, I know how you feel... who ever said destination wedding was stress free!! We are arriving at the resort on May 18-25. My TA said that the flights were "sold out" too, meaning that its not literally all sold out just reserved up from other bridal party. As of now Edmonton and Calgary are sold out, so were putting our guest on the wait list. My fingers are crossed for more open spaces! Were flying with Nolitours and there's been talks of a bigger air craft as well . Have you thought about asking your Calgary people to fly out of Toronto? I know its a little more expensive, but if space doesn't open up then that could be an option.
  17. Hi! I'm not sure who my WC is as I go through all my wedding planning through my travel agent and then she contacts WC directly. I hope its not the same as yours since she is away until end of October. I'm surprise your WC doesn't have anyone replacing her while she is out of the office. Best of luck and will let you know about the sky lanterns when I find out!
  18. Hey Ladies!! I found this really cool DIY project from a fellow knottie and thought I share it with you!! I think I might do this for the chairs along the aisle. I've also found a girl on Etsy that made pomander balls out of tissue paper, which may be better for our travels as the pomander balls arrives flat to you and then you would need to "fluff" it up. Here's the website! http://sabrinasplanningbio.weebly.com/fabric-pomander-balls.html
  19. Were getting married at the Mayan Rivieria at the Gran Bahia Akumal in May 2012. The resort does not allow outside photographers unless they are staying at the resort. I would love to have the ceremony, TTD, and maybe an excursion photographed. Our budget is around $4000-$5000 .
  20. Does anyone know if the resort allows us to do "Sky lanterns"? There's a recent thread with past brides doing sky lanterns and it looks so amazing!! It was on the Bachelorette, hangover 2, and Tangled. I was thinking it would be cool to have guest write a wish for the bride and groom on the sky lanterns before sending them off to the sky (how romantic!!). Will check with my WC if resort allows, might not get a reply in a while because apparently she is away until the end of OCTOBER??? Also, we came to a bump in the road for our wedding planning. Our TA reserved the seats for our Calgary guests a little too late and now it is all reserved up from other bridal parties . We are on wait list at the moment. I was thinking about waiting for a month and then maybe looking into getting a group rate for my guests in the Tulum section (We are staying in the Akumal). Has anyone ever split their groups? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!
  21. Thanks girls!! I'll definitely check out those websites! My budget is around $5000 to $6000, and I definitely agree with Sunshine2680 about the resort ridiculous prices!! Did anybody bring down their own videoorgrapher?
  22. Hey ladies!! Just wondering what everyone is doing for photography?!! I would love to bring one down with me, but every photographer that I've looked into is charging over $5000 . Any recommendation would be appreciated? Oh, I should mention that the resort photographer had mix reviews and are pretty pricy as well which is why we want to bring in our own photographers.
  23. Our OOT bags is smiliar to yours except we added: gastrolyte, sennakot (for constipation), and immodium (that saved me when I was in mexico last time.... ) lol. Also, planning on bringing travel size Aloe (just haven't found it yet).
