    Thanks for this. Didn't realize you could cut the cake during dinner. Although I have booked the Wet Bar, the jury is still out on how many ppl will be joining us and I am not sure if I am having a reception.

    We are having a symbolic ceremony as well. (we are renewing our vows) I am extremely excited. I thought I would have a simple something but planning has consumed me. It is all I can think about. LOL

    I do believe 7-8 months is fairly early to start panicking. My travel agent gave Nov 30, as a deadline for a down payment. I am not expecting a lot of ppl but I will use that to gage how many ppl I should expect. Happy planning ladiessss!

    I think a Facebook group is a good idea. You wouldn't think of that as a tool for a traditional wedding but that's a good idea!

    The flights are currently in the low $400s but I am hoping they stay reasonable and go up to $500. My biggest fear is my guests paying $800 for flights which happened to a girlffriend of mine attending a destination wedding in DR last year.

    I definitely agree...a travel agent is the way top go. I am so happy my guests have a central place to make payments and someone to assist with all the travel arrangements, etc.

    I traveled to a wedding in another state and was offended when asked to pay for the rehearsal dinner. I def wouldn't have ppl pay for their own dinner especially with the distance they are traveling. Decisions, Decisions! I do believe it is YOUR day and should be planned YOUR way soooo "Whatever floats your boat". LOL. Happy planning!

    I would think chiffon or organza would be the best fabrics but I keep falling in love with satin and taffeta dresses! My plan when I start trying-on is to only go for the lighter fabrics!

    Hi Nicole, Welcome aboard. I am renewing my vows at the Majestic Colonial. Although I have not been there, my mom has and she raves about the resort. The decision make for me was the price for my guests. I figured if I wanted anyone to show up, I would have to make it reasonable. Happy planning!

    I haven't done much planning. LOL. I sent out electronic save-the-dates via pping.com because I was press for time (10 mos. for guests to make payments, etc) I planned on sending save-the-sated through the mail or maybe just skipping straight to invitations. I booked Tropical pictures for the time being. Booked Pastor york. Booked the Wet Bar for our reception. Wow, I guess I did do a lot...lol. How bout you?

    Not being a downer at all! I thank you for your honesty. I'm not doing TTD so I figured I would need someone for 3-4 hours max. I was considering using the photographer at the Majestic Colonial. Bringing someone down would mean their travel but also the $300 resort fee. I guess it is still something to look into. I will def reconsider. Thanks again.

    I too chose the Majestic Colonial because it was cost effective to my guests. I have also had a great experience with my wedding coordinator. My WC promptly responds to my emails. I am pleased thus far. Happy planning ladies!
