  1. Yep, I agree with everyone else.. I realise everyone is different but Ive never heard of anyone paying for their own wedding meal before, I would be offended.. I know where your coming from with inviting people your not that close too.. We're from the UK and getting married in mexico (which is an 11 hour flight) so we're lucky that everyone coming is very close to us.. Im over the moon 37 have booked to come so im trying to say thank you as much as I can by giving them a special reception etc.. Its a very tricky situation! I hope u sort it out.. This is the last thing any bride needs on top of the other bridal stress! Good Luck xxx
  2. Im from the UK so I dont know if it is different here to you in the states but over here we usually gives gifts to best man, parents and in laws during the speeches. When my FH gives his speech we will then thank them for everything theyve done and give them their gift and also thank for best man for give him his gift.. I will give the bridesmaids and flowergirls jewellery to wear on the day as gifts.. My brother is our photographer and is doing alot for us so plan on giving him a gift during the speeches also.. Ooh and my friend is a hairstylist and is coming to Mexico and will be doing all our hair for us so going to get her something special also.. Gosh so much to think about! lol
  3. Since we decided to pay extra and have a private reception, I asked our wedding coordinator if we could have the reception meal that was included in our wedding package as a wedding rehearsal dinner.. it was no problem! I find that the WCs dont tend to tell you much so you have to ask.. I wouldnt have thought of asking to have the meal thats included if i didnt read it on here! We're paying for it so why not! If u dont ask.. you dont get! She sent me the menu for it too.. it looks lovely!! and theyre giving us a private part of the restaurant for it xxx
  4. I would love to know how much is standard to tip the WC also!! xxx
  5. I know this thread is an old one but I just want to bump it.. Im having my ceremony at 1.30pm on the beach.. I think my timeline works out well.. 1.30 - 2.00pm Ceremony 2.00 - 3.00pm Photos 3.00 - 5.00pm Cocktail Party 5.00 - 9.00pm Reception But having reading about heat, im now worried that 1.30pm is going to be unbearable?? What are ur thoughts? xxxx
  6. Hi Ladies, I know theres other threads about this but I wanted to get the sensatoris ladies advice! Are any of you having a AHR? And if so is it going to be formal?? My dads very traditional and feels that we should hold a formal AHR for family and close friends that couldnt make the DW.. It will be a sit down meal in the day for ppl that came to the DW and family that could not make it (approx. 80 ppl) including welcome drinks, wine on the tables, 3 course meal etc.. and then an evening reception for everyone else with a buffet.. Sometimes I think that it could be a little OOT seeing as we will already be married but then other times i think 'Ooh sod it! im only doing this once and it will be great to celebrate will people that couldnt be there' I do deep down love the idea of having the intimate dinner in the day with close friends and family.. But how do we go about it? Do we get introduced in? Or do we just turn up there? Are you having a traditional wedding cake? We plan on all being in full wedding attire.. It will be held 4 weeks after we return from Mexico (Time to get back in our dresses!!) I would love the advice & opinions of past and future brides!! Thank you xxxx
  7. Hi Ladies, I know its been a while since anyone posted on this thread.. But im having a formal AHR.. Sit down meal for ppl that came to the DW and family that could not make it.. And then a night reception with buffet for everyone else.. Sometimes I think about it and think im going OOT but then i think im only doing this once!! Does anyone who had a formal AHR have any pictures they could post please? Just to set my mind at ease that im not going totally over the top! thanks xxx
  8. Great thread!! I cannot justify the cost of a dj along with the outside vendor fee they charge.. I am going to rent the amp and microphone from the hotel ($250).. So really $250 for our reception music, thats music we all like, I think is quite a good deal!
  9. This is a great thread.. I have 2 adult bridesmaids and 3 flower irls.. Do you sugguest one song for them to walk down to and then another one for myself? xxx
  10. Trust me, your not alone.. I started my OOT bags before I started looking for my dress!! Haa! Crazy
  11. Theyre beautiful.. And I love the glitter and diamantes youve added.. And to think I was going to buy my hair flower from the bridal shop for a huge amount of £££.. Defnitely going to look into doing my own! Thank you! xxx
  12. I love Greys! It never disappoints.. Team McSteamy! xxx
  13. Love the VS stuff.. Wish we could get stuff like that in the UK! xxx
  14. I am also looking at lightinthebox as a friend I was in school with got her bridesmaid dresses off there.. She called in my house not long ago with a material/colour board she bought from there and a dress she bought from there.. I have to say the quality seemed superb! Fully lined.. You would honestly say you bought it from a bridal shop.. After reading a few reviews it seems all the dresses come quite long in standard sizes but you can also have them made to custom size.. Im definitely going to order mine from here after seeing one in person.. I will order standard sizes and get them professionally altered closer to my wedding date.. Hope this helps anyone xxx
  15. I was unsure whether to have a bag or not but after readin this I think I will get one for myself & bridesmaids.. I always carry a lipgloss on so will feel better having it myself than having to ask someone for it all the time.. Also Im having a formal AHR so it will come in handy for that too xxx
