Welcome and happy planning! Isn't it funny how people react to how long you've been engaged? We are having a 2 year engagement and people are all giving their 2 cents as to why we should get married sooner.

Yes lmdavis, i heard its bad luck as well. It's something about you watching their time and waiting for them do die...not sure if its true but i guess its up to you to believe it or not.

I have not gotten as far as sending out std or invites yet but i am sure that once i do this will happen to me too. I am especially thinking about one bridesmaid of mine who always has something going on that interrupts her life.

I was at michaels recently but did not see anymore sewing kits. I think it was just clearance from the holidays.

That would be a good idea. Just make sure she doesn't act this way towards your other guests and hound them about paying and if they are going or not =)

I completely understand where you are coming from. People like to make your wedding about them. Before we decided to do a DW my mom told one of my aunts that I was looking at a place that had american food. Her response was "so we have to eat american food?" (I am chinese/vietnamese) When my mom told me I didn't even know what to say. I told my mom do not tell anyone anything about the wedding. I just don't understand how people can utter words like that without blinking twice. I mean I am paying to feed you so you will eat whatever I give you. As for your friend, perhaps sitting her down to tell her you want to have a simple wedding? I've said this many times to people and they kind of stop telling you to do this or that. But you will definitely go crazy if she keeps this up.

I feel your pain girls. My family (mom and dad have 9 siblings each; all very opinionated and rude) have asked me questions since the moment i told them i wan engaged. I avoid them now to keep myself from getting upset. It's sad but they made it that way. We have gone so far as to keep our destination wedding a secret and only telling people who are invited and telling them to be quiet about it. We are having a "wedding" at home when we get back but it will only be a dinner. Whenever they ask me about it (the rare times i see them) i just smile say i dont know and walk away. We'll see how they react when the find out we had a destination wedding and didnt invite them. I noticed that these questions come from "friends" too. Maybe its just me but I would never ask someone if I am invited to their wedding, it just seems pushy.

Agreed. This is especially with the knot. I found that this is true even in person not only blogs. Everyone has their opinion and some have no problem telling you what they think you should do for your wedding.

That's great! Did you go there yourself or get it mailed to you? I did email the Emerald Coast Visitors Center and they mailed me a brochure about the area. Penascola is near destin so I wonder if it is the same stuff they would send me.

Love the diy hangers!!! I want to try to diy it as well but i'm afraid to attempt it haha. I may get the wooden hangers and use a stencil to spray paint their initials on the top part and maybe a ribbon to add in my wedding colors.

We paid for our bridesmaids outfits and jewlery. I also got each of them a straw beach bag, robes, water bottles, small airplane kit (eye mask, ear plugs, lotion), and small goodies for the plane such as small deodorant, pack of tissues, hard candies, gum. For the grooms men we also paid for their outfits and got them beer mugs, and engraved cuff links. For our DW we are paying for the housing for everybody because we are renting a large beach house. I feel like I still need to get them stuff but now that i'm typing it all out it seems like a lot! haha I am thinking about beach towels and anklets for the girls and metal luggage tags for everybody. Basically all they need to pay for is their their flight to Florida. =) It's nice seeing what everyone else is getting to get more ideas.
