  5. I've got loads of questions for you. So glad that you discussed the temperature, and what it actually feels like. I was trying to figure out what type of dress to go shopping for, and I'm getting married in a year from tomorrow, so almost the same time. I was thinking just dress shirts and a vest for the guys. Do you think that would be better? Could you ask your husband if he would have been more comfortable in that? I did find that Jos A Bank has suits and dress shirts that are wicking and we were thinking about that to help a bit. What type of material was your dress? It looks like satin maybe? They talked me into doing the ceremony at 5, but now I'm thinking that we should postpone it to be a little later. How long was your cocktail hour? and When did your reception start? Do you think there would be enough time to postpone the ceremony by an hour? So walking in the wedges was hard, would you recommend just wearing flats? Or, do you think the wooden runner was worth it? How did your guests do waiting outside for the ceremony to start? Did you do anything to help they stay cool? i.e. fans, umbrellas, water, sunglasses, etc? About the hair, I was thinking of doing a Hairdo that was pulled back and then cascaded down one side. Do you think the wind would still make this hair style annoying, or do you think it'd be too hot for that? By the way, I think your hair was a gorgeous shade of blonde. Glad to see they did such a good job fixing it for you. Did you do a veil? I was debating on nixing it. ... anyway... suppose that's enough questions for now. Thanks! and CONGRATS!!!
  6. Welcome Back!!! I can't wait to hear everything and see your pictures!!! As far as music you can waltz to pretty much anything... how about "It had to be you" by Henry Conick jr,
  7. That sucks. I'm so sorry you have to worry about this on top of everything. Super important not to let the stress get to you though, you don't want to make yourself sick. Last week I had my thesis due on Wednesday, and the stress of meeting that deadline made me come down with a whole respiratory infection... there's a lot of sinus/strep type things going around right now... and That's the last thing you want the week of your wedding. Lots of sleep and vitamins. Every time it feels like the world is spinning crazy I close my eyes and picture the beach. you're leaving so soon.. and that's awesome!
  8. I was totally thinking that I want them too... let me know what your WC tells you.
  9. Pacsafe makes a portable safe that I always bring with me when I travel, I don't want to risk my $2,000 macbook walking away. It's a little on the expensive side, but I've used it dozens of times. It rolls up pretty small in my bag too. http://pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=18
  10. I agree this is beautiful, and with lanterns it would be perfect for Tuscanes. I'm interested to hear what you find out about pricing and if they can even do it or not. 12. Hey I get shellac all the time.. I even bought the stuff to do it myself. I've never had it change colors either. To take the shellac off all you have to do is soak a paper towel in an acetone nail polish remover and then wrap it around your nails for a couple of minutes.. the polish comes right off. I've even just peeled it off without soaking, although it usually rips up an upper layer of nail in a couple areas when I do that so I don't recommend it. I say go for it and don't worry. Just take a small travel size bottom of some acetone and you'll be ok.
  13. Yeah I'd already read the webcast streaming on lomas's site. Thanks for asking and posting it though. I was more interested to see if anyone was using the service, or had used it. I was wondering how good it was going to be? If people thought it was worth it? Thoughts anyone?
  14. Is anyone using/used the streaming video service that Lomas provides? My mom can't make the trip, or my grandparents so I was thinking of paying for it. Thoughts?
  15. I know I'm way ahead of the game, but you can add me to the list I'm 5/25/13. Those of you hanging paper lanterns, How are you going to light them? or are you going to light them? I saw something about creating battery powered LED lights that you can just stick in them. http://www.instructables.com/id/LED-Throwies/ Is anyone doing anything like that? I'm working with Alejandro at Lomas. After hearing how long it was for people to hear back from their WC I was really surprised that he got back to me in only a couple of days, especially because their so far out. So far I'm really excited. I can't wait to hear how your weddings are weather wise at the end of May. I'm hoping that the heat won't be too bad in the evenings. We picked a 5pm wedding time to be able to have the heat start to fade off. I'm excited to hear about the signature drinks, since I was thinking about it anyway. I saw an awesome way to do seating cards by placing table numbers and names on straws in the signature drinks at the cocktail hour. It was so simple and such a great way to do it. I think I saw it on martha stewert's website. I pinned it on my pinterest pinboard. http://pinterest.com/jsspiff/wedding/ if anyone wants to check it out.
  16. I want a former student of mine, who'll be fresh out of art school next May to do ours. Let me know what they say about having a friend do it. If they give you a hard time at any point for not booking with them, if they try to charge you a fee. That kind of thing... I'm very curious.
  17. That's so sad about your FIL. I'm glad that things have worked out though. My future in-laws came around to it when I showed them a video of the place, and they realized it wasn't all people in sombreros jumping around firing guns in the air, yelling Arriba Arriba! All in all I'm psyched and it's nice that everyone is behind the idea now. People who before were opposed and were sure they wouldn't be able to afford it are talking all about getting rooms now. Which is great. I'm hoping for around 30 people. I think that will be a really fun size group. We're not really doing a Honeymoon. One of the reason we picked the El Dorado was because of how big the place was and it having the Casitas in it. We're staying on the Royale side before the wedding and moving to the Casitas side afterwards... to do our own private thing.. kinda like a honeymoon. Then hoping to do a big trip somewhere for our 1st anniversary.... maybe to Japan... or Ireland.
  18. That's totally the reason that I'm doing a Destination Wedding too... we live in MD and my family is spread out between NY, TN, GA, MA and NM... everyone would have to fly in... so why not fly somewhere nice? The only people who are really put off by it are my friends and my FI's family. But his part of the guest list is only 7 people, vs. my 70. So it made sense... plus it made my MIL really happy when I told her that I'd let her throw a mini-reception in PA for her people who can't go. Makes everyone happy. We're going to just go to the courthouse here before we fly. No ceremony, just paperwork. At first that ruffled some feathers with family. But the cost and the hoops you have to jump through just aren't worth it. For me marriage isn't about the legality, but more about the vows you make. When we explained that it made things better. Plus, the ceremony has to be in Spanish for it to be legal, and I thought that would take out some of the romance.
  19. Hey Everybody!! I'm officially going to be an EDR bride!!! We just got back our confirmation for May 25th, 2013... I know I'm way ahead of the game... we starting searching resorts 6 months ago. I just finished reading all 176 pages of posts. There is loads of really useful info in here. I actually really love the idea of customized playing cards in the bags. I'm also going to create a themed "activity" book for my guests. With coloring pages based on pictures of my FI and me, crosswords, word searches, etc. I'm an art teacher so it's kinda up my alley... I'm really interested to hear from you May brides what the weather is like. What is everyone going with for tuxs for your Grooms? I have a FI who might turn into a Groomzilla if he is really uncomfortable the whole day. Did anyone find any kind of suit that is wicking? Also, what did you guys find about dress types and the heat... I want to be comfortable, but I don't want to look too casual or like I'm preggers... Either way... super excited!!!!
