  1. I think it is totally fine to do it over that weekend. My b-day always falls on or around mother's day and I still celebrate my b-day over mother's day (but I don't like my step mom) !!! HA!!! I think you will be just fine and will not offend anyone!!!
  2. You go girl!! Seriously, people are sooo rude!!! Most of the girls I am inviting, most of whom I have been in their weddings (about 10 weddings in all) which I have spent NO LESS than $1000 to be in their weddings (it's usually around $2000 and 2 were a DW) are already telling me it's too expensive!!! you!!!! Thank you so much for being there for me, selfish much??????????????? But I guess they are telling me now and not 50 day before hand! But it still stings and makes sad that I wanted to do all these nice things for them and their weddings, but won't even come to mine, but promise my parties beforehand will be fun. ummm.....I don't want your help, thank you!!! I have a feeling this will change friendships!!! AAAHHH, apparently, I needed to vent too!!! Thanks!!! This thread is all too common, but much needed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. I believe even with an I-pod we still need to rent speakers and a technician for like $400 or so (don't mark my words on that, though). With that said, I believe the technician will start and stop your songs for you. As for a reception...It honestly depends on how many book. I want a reception, but if we only have 20-25 we may opt for the dinner option and maybe extend cocktail hour???? Not sure. We just sent our STD's, so we have a ways before we know the # of guests coming. How soon is your wedding???

  6. I actually am probably not starting until it gets a little closer, so I know how much to buy. I am sure there are expiration dates on things like Tylenol, etc...but honestly, I think you will be ok! A lot of that stuff doesn't expire for at least a year or two. I have that has been sitting in my fridge for a couple years. Should be A-OK!

  9. I am not married yet, but we are using an I-pod for sure, not matter how many people we have, but we may have just as many as you.... Not sure you can have DJ in a restaurant anyways... As for a photog, I know I have to purchase a room for him and his assistant. But we are getting married in 2012, so you may want to check you contract. They are definitely trying to do away with a day pass. A bride (a few posts up) is there right now and said she paid $300 + 88/pp for her photogs to be at MP. So, it's a little cheaper to do a room... Hope that helps!
  10. Hi Ladies! So, I am starting to research where I want my locations for the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. What are you all liking, picking, etc.... and why! Sometimes it gets confusing, because the resort is so big. I like Tucan gazebo, Venando Terrace, but not sure if they are remotely close....I am going to try to get MP to book them for me, since I know so many of you ladies already have!!! Thank you everyone!!!
  11. Happy Wednesday all my fellow MP brides and groom! So, I have been busy this week. I was able to book Sara Tamargo for Hair and Make-up for my wedding day! YAY!! She is very reasonable!!! So excited Today I sent my deposit for our photog. We decided on Octavio Montes. After much debate, he was the best for us, with some of the other wonderful photogs, I wouldn't have had a TTD, with Octavio I get one!!!!. I did lots of research on him and he seems great, so I am excited about it!!!! Now, I am just going to look into invitations and getting my locations booked, we hopefully should be good for a little while now!!! phew....
  12. I would love the Caribbean terrace, but I guess it just depends on our budget. It's an additional $12/pp right? and That is sooooooooooooooooooo exciting! mine has been viewed 36! Can't wait till my #'s are up there!!!! Thank you thank you!!! I will PM you on how to get there! YAY!!! My TA told me $92, but my MP contract says $88, so I am going off of that one for sure!!
  13. I chose the Moon Palace to have our wedding, definitely seemed like the right choice for us. We are having 3 kids at our wedding. I have, however, been to both The Royal and Valentin. I went to a DW at the Royal and of course it was beautiful! I also loved the Valentin! I would definitely do either of those places for sure!

  15. Welcome and Congrats! I agree with everyone else. I don't think you need a website. The only reason I am doing one, is to put at much info on there as possible to refer our guest to it. We are are going to send out around 75 invites, though. I definitely wouldn't have done a website for just my family. The info you are sending them is plenty!!
  16. Choosing your location is definitely the hardest part. There are so many great resorts, though!!! Good luck!!! I know we looked at dreams and their resorts were in our top 3 for sure!

  20. YAY!!! so exciting! I only tried on about 10 dresses too as 2 different places. The one I got was the one I had been wanted to try on for awhile! It was so fun, but glad I found it so early!!! I want to see pix!!!!
