The first thing I would do, is find a travel agent that specializes in destination weddings. Then ask their opinion on what area and resorts they recommend. Then from there you can do your own research too. Since you aren't getting married until 2013 it will be awhile before you able to get specific pricing, but at least you can get a general idea. For us, we chose Cancun/Riviera Maya because it was easier and cheaper to fly there for our guests. We debated Punta Cana, but it deemed to difficult to get there (overnight layovers, etc...) Once we chose MX, we then debated between Palace resorts, Dreams resorts and the Now Jade. Ultimately, for us, the Palace resorts had lucrative incentives for brides, grooms, even their guests. Palace resorts are more expensive than Dreams, so again, that comes down to what you think people are willing to pay or what works for you guys. From what I have read about Dreams they are great and everyone seems to have beautiful weddings there! There is a plethora of information on here and you will find exactly what you are looking for! Whatever you choose, it will be the right decision for you guys! Good Luck!

Thanks! I have a lot of siblings, so it just them and their S.O's, but you know what....they are going and that's means the world to me! As for the Tucan Garden, it's just to the side of the Gazebo on the lawn, so it's not really a "garden" per se. But I will try to find a picture of the set up, I know there is one on the MP locations thread, I will try to find the link for ya! I think coming into the Cocktail hour later and doing your dance is a great idea! Your wedding is going to be here sooooo soon! So excited for you!!!

Hi Ladies, I feel so out of the loop!!! I have been sick for the past couple days and I didn't even have the energy to check this site! (GASP!!!) I hope everyone is doing well and is having a good week. As for me, we now have 19 people plus FI and booked and are at 52 nights! There are a few more people that have said they are coming and want to spend the week there, which would put us at 73 nights! If that miraculously happens FI and I will purchase the rest of the nights, as it's worth is money wise! So, here's hoping! But regardless, FI and I are thrilled that our immediate families and the groomsman have booked. Also, I think we finally have our locations. We got Tucan Gazebo for the ceremony, Tucan garden for cocktail hour and tucan terrace for wedding reception. I really wanted Venando Terrace for the reception, but of course it's taken. But it's all good, everything will just be really close for our guests!!! So below I am going to respond to you guys!!! HUGS! Thinking about you, but I have more to say below!!! Don't stress, everything will come together and will be great. Things always tend to work themselves out! One day at a time girl!!! I am sorry to hear this Coco, I know we all look forward to seeing what you have created. However, I am also sorry to hear that there is friction between FI, you and his daughter. I can imagine how you feel. I don't have any children, but I do happen to have a younger sister who is 11 years younger than me and gets EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING she wants. It drives me crazy. My dad hasn't given us money for our wedding but he just her a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I saw red for a couple days because he said he would give us money and still hasn't! It's so frustrating to sit there while certain people never learn life lessons! I really hope you guys can work it out, so there isn't any ill will towards one another and the daughter!!! I am very sorrry! On a lighter note, though, YAY about the dog! You must post pix when you pick him/her out!!!! If you ever need to vent some more you know we are here and you have my personal e-mail too! Don't be afraid to use it, if you need to!!!! Those look so great! LOVE THEM!!! I haven't decided about foot jewelry, but if I do, I am sold on Chelsea! YAY YAY YAY!!! Ok, here is where I will selaborate on my above comment! I am so happy to hear that the little man is going to be ok and is cancer free! That must be the biggest relief and I am so happy that things turned out for the better! Are you starting the cocktail hour later? I ask, because of pictures. Will you and FI take pictures after the ceremony during cocktail hour? I assume you thought of this. But, I think I would want to do the 1st dance first, so when you walk in everyone is all there and paying attention. Then I think you should do speeches a few minutes afterward. What I would do, and this is just my opinion and it's all personal preference. I would 1. Come into cocktail hour and have our first dance right after we enter 2. I would wait on toasts and do them at dinner. But I like to wait to for things like that, because for me, it keeps the momentum and fun coming.

YAY!!! So exciting! He is going to love it! They look great!!! umm...Yes. But honestly, I don't even know what to work on without knowing how many are coming. I will eventually work on OOT bags, welcome letters, luggage tags, raffia fan programs but in reality I probably can't start those until March. I don't want to under or over purchase. So, I just decided not to stress about doing more until I have a better head count!

Hi guys! Hope everyone had a great weekend! So my TA was able to work something out which is a better deal for our Denver guests and we still get the room nights at MP. This will lower peoples trips by up to about $500, but they have to reserve today. But, so far with those that have booked we are at 25 nights, which is great. The rest of my family and FI's should book today too, which would bring us to 52 nights. And that is just our family and the groomsman. So, if we luck out and get a few of our friends to book we actually may be able to pull off 75 room nights, since so many are going to 7 nights. If not, maybe at least 60! I will take it!!! Hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Oh Summer! I started tearing up while reading this! Your in-laws and FI sound absolutely amazing!!! I am so happy to that you have such amazing people in your life!!! Tammy! They look great! Believe me, I totally get it and I shed many many tears! I, too have friends of 15 years that aren't coming and I never thought in a million years they would miss my wedding. I was in all their weddings and one even had a destination wedding I was in! It hurt (still does) and it will forever change the way I feel about them, but it's for the best! If they really wanted to be there for me, they would make it work! My new mantra is "The people who go, are the ones that are supposed to be there" and that's all that matters now! Our weddings will still be beautiful (and awesome!!!) w/o "those" people. But WE all get the frustration and sadness that comes with a destination wedding. Again, that's why this site is so great, we can vent to each other and totally get it!!!! HUGS!!!!

I completely understand, I think that's why this site is a god send!!! We all understand. However, if I were you I would be jumping up and down with excitement with all the people that have booked. We are 2 weeks after you and we only have 2 people that have booked, and that's only their deposit. You are going to have an amazing time no matter what! It already sounds like you have a great amount of people that have showed you that they want to be there for you and your FI! Concentrate on those coming! It took me a long time to feel that way! I felt bitter for a good 2 months! HAHAHA!

Hi Ladies!!! so guess what....We booked our flight tonight! Tickets out of Denver are crazy and keep going up, so I was getting nervous. After we priced out tickets and luggage fees on united and continental, we just decided to pay a little more to fly direct both ways on frontier and the seating type we got allows two free checked bags each, priority seating, priority check in, which is all great for carrying a dress on the plane with me! Since we aren't having a lot of people come, we decided to splurge a little on us! This small wedding definitely has its perks! Goodnight chicas!!!
