  1. Congrats Jolene!! I am only a few posts away! Honestly I wouldn't have minded paying, but I didn't see anywhere to pay..I'm not really computer saavy..so it's easier for me to just make posts lol. I'm bringing 2 photographers with me (that was their package, 2 for the price of 1), and it worked out great because we got 2 free passengers for the trip due to our group size, so we only paid taxes and their package price. So anyways..Cherie - I had planned on having everything done 3 months before and then summer hit and I got seriously lazy..and now I'm scrambling. But at this point I've decided I'm not planning anything else, basically I tried planning it perfectly and things werent working out, and I was just disappointed, so now I'm going to just take it as it comes.
  2. crap! I literally spent $75.00 on VP just a week ago. Oh well. what's another 50 bucks lost in the grand scheme of losses lol
  3. Thanks Ladies..the whole thing about the pants just pisses me off. I am going to go back myself and try again and then try another of the same stores because it's totally bullshit. MissDe- honestly from what I've seen from resort Photographers you're probably better off!! Sometimes the Resort Photog's kinda suck and are literally the same guys who walk around with monkey's and iguana's and take photos' of people on the beach with them. definitely not pro's. My Balloons were white, green and purple - those are my colors. I originally wanted the chinese lanterns, but they told me they could not hang them so I can't use those..so that's why I thought balloons would be perfect - light, easy to carry, and then they said they could blow them up with helium. Obviously lost in translation because they don't have helium there. Jolene - for the group quotes for 2012 vs 2013...it sucks she made a mistake..you're still early for the 2013 packages so maybe wait a few weeks and then try again for quotes? Also it might be a good idea to shop around a bit - find a destination wedding specialist or group travel specialist in your area. As for flights from Winnipeg - better to know now, than to book it and then have them cancel it later, which does happen! I bet if you just wait and re-request the rates it'll get a bit better. I too think $1900 for anywhere in Varadero is a bit high. My price is $1600 per person for early Dec for my group from Edmonton..Calgary should be similar you'de think.
  4. I'm going with Heartland..I have listenned to it a few times and every time I end up sobbing..it is so perfect for father daughter. My dad cries when he hears it too, so I think it's a good pick.
  5. Hey Jolene! Yeah I know there aren't many Varadero brides on here because it's only Canadians and the UK brides that can get married there..for me it's shot in the dark. I had two depressing moments this week - 1 - I found out the resort can't blow up balloons with Helium - I was going for this look: I even asked them twice in May to verify they could do this, before ordering my balloons..and only now they tell me they meant they can blow them up with air..so they wont float...so yah..I'll just put a Giant 1 foot balloon on everyone's plates then?? WTF The second was with the groomsmen attire..it's a ridiculously long story..basically my groom is tall and slim, and his two groomsmen are shorter and stalky..and he did go shopping with them once to get their sizes, and then Josh and I were going to pick out the pants they were going to wear and buy them for them. So we did that and bought them their sizes..only when they tried on the pants they didn't fit (straight leg pants) vs the style they tried on to give Josh their sizes. I wasn't there to observe the first shopping trip, and Josh just came clean and told me they were at tommy bahama trying linen pants. I always said I do not want them wearing linen pants or shirts..so I don't know how that happenned other than Josh didn't really know what linen pants were. (if you want something done right, do it yourself) So we had to bring the pants back, and I figured Josh could keep his, and since he's the groom he could look different plus he's got a matching vest and it would be really hard to find all of that again. So one groomsmen (Brad) lives across the country from us, and doesn't have access to the store where we bought the pants. The other lives in the same city as us (Kirk)..so we went shopping with Kirk and had him try a bunch of things and managed to have them exchange the old pants for a new pair. So I'm thinking, great!! We didn't Brad's pair back yet, so we had to wait to recieve them, and then go back and take our chances doing the Exchange and guess on his size for Brad. So Josh went to the mall yesterday with the second pair of pants to pick up the new ones, and try and exchange (we're WAYYY past the deadline, and do not have a reciept), but the store wouldn't exchange for him ($100 pants that they are still selling and still have tags on them). So he called me and said they wont exchange them. So I said go back and talk to the manager. He does, and it seems like he's going to do it, except the new pants we want are all of a sudden "only sold as a suit", so you need to get it as a set with pants and a blazer for $250....ummm...we just bought the pants last week without a blazer (the new pants are $130 so more than the originals), and they still have them tagged as though they are something that can be bought on it's own. I'm so pissed, so now we're out either $100 for the pants that don't fit him and that they wont exchange, or $150 because we had to buy more expensive pants AND a blazer that they wont wear IF they decide to let us exchange the old ones. I seriously cried for about an hour yesterday..it was too much for 1 week for me to deal with, and those were my first wedding tears. I'm just picturing all three guys wearing something different and it'll look like a mess... Have you guys had any dissapointments?? Here's my funeral to balloons...
  6. My wedding is in varadero, Cuba. Where is yours??
  7. I'm so close, and I want to download some welcome book templates but I have a hard time! I like to read, but I don't post very much.
  8. I agree, time flew SOOO fast, it's not even funny. 2 months from today I leave for my trip!! Last night I finished making Luminary bags..what's left is this: -Get wedding shoes died -Groom and Groomsmen need shirts -Make welcome booklets for all guests to go with their tickets -Order wedding favors. -chase up brooch bouquet - it was supposed to have a mid-september delivery, and I haven't heard anything from the girl since May..I tried emailing her and facebooking her but she's not replying. -make dance playlist (well actually one of my BM should be doing this, so I need to make sure she does!!) -order freeze dried rosepetals for the aisle. -have a meeting with our photographer to make our plans for the photography on the wedding day, and the ttd, and the rehearsal photos. -Go for final dress fitting (remind BM to get their dresses fitted, and GM to get their pants hemmed) -Get accessories for dress -buy my makeup PACK!! uummm..I'm wracking my brain for what else I need to do..
  9. Yeah!!!! Omg it's coming so fast!! I just finished my luminary bags tonight....almost ready!! How's your planning coming?
  10. Hey Ladies, I don't usually post a new thread, but I'm super sad right now!! I had my decor all planned out, and purchased - my wedding is only 2 months away now. So my plan was to use Balloons filled with helium (like those really large round balloons) as centerpeices, they would be kinda floating about 3 feet above the tables...so I emailed the resort back in May - they said oh yes, we can blow up the balloons with helium. So I went ahead and special ordered the balloons, made these luminary bags to attach them to (to keep them from floating away), bought the twine and was just really excited about it. Today the WC replied to an email of mine from last week in which I was just reconfirming details, and she said we don't have helium, but we can still blow up your balloons...but that means they wont float! WTF!! I know, I know, everyone says it'll still be nice without the balloons, but I'm gutted about it. I originally wanted the chinese lanterns but they told me they can't do those because they have no where to hang them (hence balloons). What should I do? Just use the luminaries and forget about it? I might try to make something like these garlands, but they still need to be hung, and if they have nowhere to hang things, that's a problem. I just really didn't want my wedding to be cookie cutter and boring.. Soooo sad. L
  11. Why not carry the dress on it, then it's in Carry on the whole way? You gotta carry the dress anyway. You did fabulous, it looks professional and amazing! I wish I had used the 16 Ga instead now!
  12. Thanks! Actually my Fiance did the word because he's an electrician so he's used to bending wire! He did a great job! Here's a pic of my attempt beside his attempt..lol!
  13. Hey Ladies! I finally finished mine! Here it is, what do you think? (don't mind the background, it's in our storage room to avoid being bumped around!)
