  1. I too was quite sad my dog can't come to Cuba and be in the wedding, so I had him added to our Cake Topper!!!! His name is Reggie and He's a Chihuahua Corgi cross. All this talk about cheesecake, I better go spend some time in the low carb thread before I backslide.
  2. I forgot what thread this was lol....we're ALL fromEdmonton.
  3. Jreist - great job on the flowers! What is Chintz and company? I've never heard of it and I'm from Edmonton too
  4. I just saw this thread- ribbons!! So cool! I might try to incorporate something like this! http://www.weddingobsession.com/. It's today's post called "ribbon inspired photoshoot"
  5. I love that quote - it's sooooo true!! For a while (about a day) I was upset about my decor falling through, and then in the end I realized, who cares, I'm still marrying the man I love, with our without balloons. Now I've decided not to plan another thing and just take it as it comes. I am so lucky, both our families have been soo supportive - no one has really complained about the price, or the fact that they have to go anywhere, and the people who cannot come just said no and that was that. So I haven't really had to field anyones rude comments. I really feel for you ladies to have to deal with people calling you a burden, and making demands. I would feel like complete crap if I was being beaten down like that over such a happy occassion. it's true..weddings get judged so harshly - but next time you're invited to a wedding pay attention to what people are saying about it..it's not only your wedding they judge. EVERY wedding gets judged and by people who have no right. Just remember - all those a-holes who are giving you excuses and making you feel bad - be glad you're going away and don't have to pay a dime to feed them at an at home wedding, because they'de be saying nasty things about your wedding even if it was at home, and the problem is they'de come to that one..and it costs you money! It just shows people's true colors.
  6. Jolene - I have heard from friends booking directly with Sunwing was a nightmare because your guests cannot contact them, you have to do all the correspondence, and collect money from people, chase up payments, ask for deviation requests, check spelling and names and make sure your guests all know the correct travel info to bring etc... Just a warning for you! Also, most companies do offer a one time price reduction offer - mine does and we're with Transat Holidays, but it has to be done within 60 days of travel, and ours actually never went lower than my group quote. Cuba Brides - you want some inspiration - check out THESE photos' - AMAZING! I can't wait to find this place for my TTD session the next day! http://www.facebook.com/#!/media/set/?set=a.367579599950103.79904.123425457698853&type=3 Happy Planning!
  7. hmmmm, I'll have to try the vinegar baking soda thing tonight. the balloons are just sitting at home anyway! If that works, that's definitely an idea. Also the Dowels might work, I had thought of that, but I know they don't have vases and I am already bringing alot so I probably couldn't swing it. my Fiance even offered to go in and hang them from the ceiling for me, but that's too much work, and I'm already kind of over it! On the plus side I can definitely get them blown up with helium here - so I'll be using balloons for my AHR and every party we have from now until eternity!! I think I worked it out, I'll just have luminary bags, and some candles and our favors, and that'll be it on the tables. In the end I've decided not to plan for anything else because I really don't want to be dissapointed again, but regardless it's going to be great!
  8. I hit 150 last week and still can't open attachments
  9. I'm using AMA Travel and they're awesome -they have group travel specialists who are really great
  10. You're lucky Jolene! I only ever really liked the one dress that I bought, I found the rest so so. I have moments where I wonder if I made the right choice, but when I put on my dress I fell gorgeous, so it's ok regardless. I don't think there is only one dress for every person, I think it's natural to like a few.
  11. I have a similar allure dress and when I went for the fitting my seamstress showed me the bustle-not pouffy at all! I originally had the same concerns but its amazing what a good seamstress can do.
  12. My dad and fiancé drilled the holes with me overseeing the work . We basically put glue on the tips of the wire and then put clips on toehold it secure for hours and when we checked it later it was secure! We stuck it straight into the hanger, not L shape. That has probably been my favourite project so far, lots of fun
  13. Yikes! That's really sad to read your story. I can honestly tell you, my FI has had very little to do with planning, unless I specifically give him a task it's basically fallen on me. He helped pick the location, Otherwise it's been all me. I run things by him, but he really doesn't care lol. In talking to my friends who got married they said the same thing. Why don't you guys just discuss a budget, and once you have that start planning on your own. On the other hand the lack of interest could be a warning sign, So you two should probably have a serious discussion before locking anything in and especially getting guests booking trips in case he changes his mind. Good luck!
  14. you're paying for servers, set up, take down, decorating etc. the resorts do so many weddings that its a business for them. bringing 40 ppl to a resort that accommodates 500+ guests at one time isn't that huge for them. They would likely fill those rooms regardless. It's still better than having your wedding at home, price wise.
  15. Ya I had to use the natural hangers, I did paint it before I finished it. Either way yours still look great
  16. Lol, I'm so excited....the year went so fast your day will be here before you know it
  17. I just have a few things to do...mainly my welcome booklets
  18. Mine is lime green and bright purple and then some burlap Raphia colors.
  19. beautiful!!! Where did you get those bridesmaids necklaces? I love them!
