  3. yes we are flying in our own...he's a friend so it works out...that was one of the first things we booked.
  4. So just heard back from Real Resorts about the $400 segmentation fee. They won't budge on removing that. But they did give me an option to contact the events department to see if I can do it as a separate event from the wedding. Apparently it can be done. But I don't know what the cost is so I am going to look into contacting them and see if it would be worth doing so. Otherwise, I am thinking for the $400 we are going to spend for a gap between events, we may as well pay for the cocktail hour which would be equivalent to the fee.... Ay caramba!!!!

  7. All this talk about Sunwing...has anyone or is anyone flying with Air Canada? I wanted to hear from brides about Air Canada out of curiousity since that will be our airline when we go to Mexico for the wedding...

  9. I am using a travel agent and honestly, she is the BEST! Takes all the headache away from me and she even deals with the resort for me when I am frustrated or unhappy about something they tell me - currently I am going around in circles with the WC at my resort that my TA has had to step in. She's been in talks with the big guns and I am so happy she is there with me to back me up. I wouldn't be able to have done that without her. AND I have guests coming from pretty much all over the world. She has been able to accomodate and answer their questions and mine with no problem. She is always looking out for the bride. Honestly, such a weight has been lifted off me because of her!
  10. Ahhh! Too many rules to get married with a Catholic ceremony. I am Catholic and not to be rude or anything, but I hate all the rules... lol

  13. Quick update with what is going on with this one on my side. My TA is amazing and has reached out to the big guns on this, as she thinks it's a bit much as well. Apparently, the group at Real resorts are having a meeting to discuss these issues since I am not the only one who has been having concerns, so they are meeting to address it and see what they can do. I shall keep you posted. If there are other brides who feel the same way I do, then make some noise and do yourselves a favour and contact the head office and let them know your concerns. If they are holding meetings to resolve these items, it can only benefit us! I shall keep you posted with the verdict! *fingers crossed*

  19. well i dont know how new this rule is but its a bit absurd. we shall see what happens. i can always say i spoke with a bride who is having it there and you didn't get charged. they cant be inconsistent with all these charges. it doesnt make it clear for present and future gran caribe brides
  20. Interesting Norma. Are you getting charged for the division of events from 1pm to 6pm? It has nothing to do with the sunset fee because we are not doing it on a Thursday to Sunday which is when they charge that sunset fee. Our wedding is on a wednesday and not at the chapel. We are having a symbolic ceremony at the gazebo. It is specifically because we want a gap between the ceremony time and the reception time. And we are just asking for at least a 2 hour gap. and for that my WC is telling me I have to pay $400! I am sorting that all out because if you didn't have to pay it, and you have a 5 hour gap, then what the heck! I have a bone to pick with her if this is the case. I think we are looking to do the reception at the gazebo. I don't like the green floor on the terrace and I read that there are rooms that are overlooking the villa terrace. The gazebo location seems more secluded to me.
  21. Are you doing the 4pm time as well? and then having a reception after cocktail hour? I know what you mean. Like I said, it seems like they are trying to get more out of you just because it's a "wedding'

  23. Hello ladies, So we are planning on having the 4pm ceremony. I wanted to get an idea from you 2012 brides as to the flow of events from ceremony to reception and the timings you were planning on. I was told by Elsa my WC that right after the ceremony, we would have to have the reception at 4:30pm. Seems ridiculous if you ask me. And we would have to pay $400 if we wanted some time in between for pictures. I don't know why but I wanted to know your experience with that. We are now considering getting the cocktail hour to buy us some time for photos before the reception begins, but now I feel like we will be rushed! Ugh! I hate this feeling. I'd like to know any of your experiences with that....
