Yes, definitely make sure you remove any belts or corset ties before you hand it over! Because we had 2 guests back out the week before we left, we had about $150 worth of credit that Valeria told us we could use for other things. Since we were pretty much set on everything we wanted for the wedding, we asked Valeria if we could use our credit towards getting my dress steamed and my fiance's suit pressed, she told us we definitely could. Luckily, I printed off that email that she confirmed we could use our credit (she could not quote me a price beforehand either), because when we met with our onsite coordinator, she said we could not use our credit towards the steaming and pressing, but she would check with the resort. I handed over the email in which Valeria had confirmed we could, and the onsite coordinator looked pretty pissed off, then said "well I guess you can use your credit."

I had my dress steamed at EDR and it turned out really nicely! I think it was about $20-30 dollars. My dress was in the bag when I gave them the dress, so they returned it in the bag and hung it on my closet door. I was nervous that my fiance would see it too, so made sure I walked into the room first just in case, on the day they said they were returning my dress. If you are still nervous he will see the dress, leave a note with the dress when they come by your room to pick it up, requesting they return it in the bag or hang it in the closet.

To Veil or not to Veil?
TheWolferts replied to juliboley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
While I am glad I had my veil for some formal pics and pics off the beach, this is what the veil looked like at the ceremony until my MOH took it out. Not exactly a whimsical wind blown picture, more like spastic! LOL After my veil slapped my dad in the face when he gave me away and kept hitting my groom, the MOH made the executive decision to take it out. Luckily, she got it out with one quick tug. -

It took some of our guests over 3 hours to get through customs and to EDR. If your guests are landing at 5, I would suspect they wont get through customs any earlier than 6:15. If they happen to be on a shuttle that is only dropping off at EDR that would be faster, but some of our guests were on shuttles that had multiple drop offs on the way to EDR so it took forever.

I bought my dress in March 2011 and got married May 2012. As soon as I got my dress, I had my first fitting within a week and my last fitting was just a week before my wedding! I was starting to get nervous becuz my tailor was so precise that I actually had 5 fittings! So that being said, I dont think that 11 months out is too far away at all! My dress had a corset back which meant I could fluctuate in size quite a bit, but I have also not been but 5 pounds more than what I weighed as a teenager. I would order your dress at the size you are now because they can always make a dress smaller, but if you order your dress smaller and dont get down to the size you ordered, they cant make it bigger!

My veil was just past my bum and flew all over my groom! My MOH had to take it out mid ceremony because it was all over the place, and I didnt even think it was that windy! I am glad I had it for some pictures after the wedding, but I wouldnt wear it down the isle again if I had to do it again. -
It took me quite a while to find the shoes for my dress, but I played off the beading on mine and found these (see below). The "silver" is cheapy looking and the material is a soft almost grey-like satin. I love that I can wear them with anything formal and they just made me feel so sexy on my bid day!

Allie, Many of our guests just snorkeled off the EDR beach and said it was actually quite good. My husband and I went with 2 other guests on a scuba excursion that we booked through Lomas Travel, but we did not organize a large group outting. I found that most people either wanted to relax at the resort or wanted to go and do their own thing with their significant other. After organizing all the events we had at the resort, I did not want to try be the organizer for a big group excursion! Plus with people coming in on different days, I didnt want to pressure people into committing to another wedding oriented event, since many people used it as their vacation.

We chose the Salon Dorado because it offered a/c; however, guests and mainly waiters are in and out of the space so much that the small amount of a/c that was in the space escapes outside. Also, since they dont generally use the room unless they are hosting an event, they dont turn the a/c on until the day off so the space isnt completely cool and has a slight musty smell. If we were to have our reception again, knowing what I know now, I dont think I would have it at the Salon Dorado. The columns were strange to work around, but I also thought the space was slightly too big for the 40 people we had. We were all very spread out and there was a lot of empty, random space near the entrance. The dance floor was a good size and right next to the bar and DJ, which could be good or bad LOL.

We had 40 people at our wedding and had our reception at the Salon Dorado. Below are some pics: This is taken from the dance floor looking at the entrance at the opposite end of the room. Here is a shot from the entrance looking towards the dance floor. Let me know if you'd like to see other pics. Most brides opt for outdoor reception venues, what made you choose Salon Dorado?

I know we didnt use our jacuzzi tub for anything other than dumping snorkeling equipment and soggy towels. It didnt look like the tub was all that clean, so I wasnt eager to jump on in... Using a public bathtub just kinda gives me the heeby jeebies! Of our 40 guests, I dont think any of them used the tub either, so if you are tight on budget or want to cut back in some areas, I think you could pass on the bubble bath.

Hi DW brides! I am selling my size 6 Sottero Midgley Adorae dress (http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?style=JSM1307LU&page=0&pageSize=16&keywordText=&keywordType=All). It's a fit and flare gown with sweetheart neckline and corset closure. Demir Stretch Satin provides sleek luster to this slender silhouette. Ruching envelopes the bodice and asymmetrically plummets below the waist, while the train pours into a gorgeous balloon hem. Since I know wedding dresses have weird sizing, this dress is a label size 6; however, I am 5'3.5" tall and weigh 120 lbs. and generally wear a size 0 or 2 in street clothes. Because of the corset closure, I would imagine it fits a wide range of bust/back sizes. I purchased this dress from Brides of Florida in March 2011 for $1,304.33. I put in about $400 in alterations to create a french bustle (bustles under and has color coded ties for easy bustling) and got the dress hemmed. I am 5'3" inches, but wore 4.5 inch heels and got it hemmed to my 5'7.5" wedding day height. I also spent about $200 on getting the dress cleaned so it looks 100% brand new with no scuffs, stains, or snags. Because of the current high quality of the dress and alterations, I am asking $1,100 for it. I am located in Washington, DC, but am willing to ship (buyer's expense). Below are some pictures of the model and me in it. The model below is shown wearing the "Ivory" color, which is the color I selected because their white is a "diamond white" which means it has shades of silver in it. Looking at my dress, I would never call it Ivory, but the manufacturer refers to it as ivory. Please let me know if you would like to see additional pictures or have any other questions!
