  1. Check out Marcia E. Roberts at http://www.jamaicanphotography.com/
  2. I think the fee for having the bags delivered to the rooms is $2 per room
  3. Hi Kivon820.... your wedding pics are beautiful! I was extremely excited when I saw your post, specifically because you had an extremely large # of guests, which is what seems to be creating major difficulties for me. We intend to have ~125 guests. Did all of your guests stay at the resort? Did you have to pay the extra $70 for those, if any, who attended your wedding but did not stay at the resort? Can you please let me know some do's and dont's with GPLH? I've been fielding them with a number of questions and I'm still not 100% clear on everything. 1. There have been some reviews where folks have complained about the time it takes for dinner to be served (up to 3 1/2 hr) and as a result money is wasted b/c after they eat folks do not get a chance to dance. I noticed in your pictures you had an opprtunity to. How did that work our for you with so many guests? Did you have a buffet or a la carte menu? I would assume that doing the buffet as opposed to the a la caret menu make a difference with the time issue. 2. Do they allow a cocktail hour? If so, was it held at the same location your reception was? How did you organize this for your guests or did you only do the post-ceremony cake and champagne toast? In addition, with your large # of guests, what package did you choose and in what locations at the resort did you have your wedding and reception? If possible, please provide me with as many details as you can. We're planning our wedding for either 8/4/11 or 8/11/11, and I'm going absolutely crazy! thanks for any help you can provide.
  4. Hi Leah22, I was only looking into th villas for the wedding ceremony and reception. I would prefer that my guests stay at an all-inclusive nearby, since for most of them it would be their first time in Jamaica. I completely understand your concern with the # of guests. Another major issue we're having is that we may have ~125 that will be coming, so you can only imagine what that would cost at Half Moon!
  5. @kenwedjam0902: I'm having a major issue b/c I may also have ~150 guests at my wedding. Can you please let me know how GBP handled such a large # of guests. Also, Where did you have your wedding (beach, gazebo) and was the space tight? Did you have a cocktail hour , where, and how was that handled? Is it $15 per guest for the open bar? Which private reception location did you choose? If Dolce Vita, did you have an issue with roaches? Can they do a Jamaican buffet there or are there restrictions for Italian food? Thanks for any info you can provide.
  6. Nothing yet. I've reached out to a number of villas and they are definitely less pricey than the all-inclusives, but now I feel as though I need to go and see them as opposed to just pictures on line. I looked into Half Moon, but unless I contacted the wrong place (someone from Rock Resorts replied to me), they quoted me ~$18,000 for 30 guests (Allure package), so with our extensive list, that definitely wasn't going to happen. Leah22 & mrsrobinson... what prices did you get? Is this the same place? My contact person is Danielle Dunfee.
  7. Thanks ladies. @Delgadot.. I started reaching out to multiple private wedding planners and received some good feedback this afternoon. I'm starting to feel less stressed now. Oh, and HH may still be a consideration. We decided to cut our guest list down... :-)
  8. Hi Atalanta, Thanks for following up. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place right now. My FI is certain we will exceed 130 and doesn't think it's a good idea to commit to HH :-(. I'm now looking into other options. If any of you know of any reasonably priced venues that will accommodate large groups, please let me know. Thanks!
  9. Thank you so much Atalanta. I've been IMing them all day and that option for the gazebo or aqueduct was not provided to me. They simply said they could not exceed the 130 guests for insurance purposes. Do you have an alternate plan in case you have more than 130 guests? I really like what I see thus far at HH, but would hate not being able to have it there b/c of cap on the # of guests :-(
  10. Hi Ladies. I'm also planning a DW in Mo Bay in 8/2012 and am having a hard time finding the venue. I just googled this villa, but I'm a very visual person and can't seem to find any pictures of weddings or wedding decor. It would be nice if we could see what the set-up is like. Do you have any pics or links to pictures that you can share? Thanks
  11. Ladies, I am so excited about this thread! My FI and I have been having such a hard time trying to find venues in Jamaica that will accommodate the # of guests we intend to have. Our guest list is currently at 220, and we are now praying that we don't have more than 130 guests, since HH seems ideal. We were initially opting for venues in Ocho Rios, but we recently decided to spare our guests the frustration of having to commute for 2 hours after arriving at the airport. Soooo. my 3 months of hard work finding a venue in Ocho Rios has now gone down the drain :-(. We're targeting 8/11/2012 as our wedding date, but nothing has been confimred yet. Once I contact the wedding coordinators I'll hopefully be able to move forward!! It's frustrating b/c I feel as though I can't do much of anything until we confirm the venue. Anyway, it's truly exciting to be on this forum and I hope we all can really help each other figure things out. Congrats to all of you on your engagements and good luck with the planning! Roxanne
  12. Tekeya, thank you much for sharing your wedding experience. You look amazing and the pics are FABULOUS! I'm so concerned about GBP now. We are expecting ~ 150 - 175 guests and I can't imagine them eating at a restaurant with roaches and other bugs. That would be such a mess!! As for the gazebo, was the heat tolerable or unbeaable. I've been to a # of destination weddings in the Caribbean and the heat can make or break it. Do you know if there are other options for the reception. We intended to have dinner at the Grill and then party at the gazebo. Thanks for any suggestions.
  13. Hi Ladies, I'm new to the site and am so glad I found it b/c I am losing my mind trying to make a decision on whether to get married at a villa or all-inclusive resort. The all-inclusives seems to be more expensive but less stress, and I don't handle stress very well :-). The main issue I have with the all-inclusives is that I'm completely against having hotels guests and other strangers witnessing my wedding or being captured in my wedding pictures. I would really prefer as much privacy as possible on our special day. The villas seem to allow privacy and the flexibility to create your own 'dream wedding', which I like. My target date is either Aug 18 or 25, 2012, but I feel like time is running out b/c I'd like to at least get the save the dates out by the end of October and I still don't have a venue.. Help!! :-) Based on your experiences, I really need some suggestions: 1. I plan to have 150 - 200 guests. Are there particular villas in Ocho Rios that can cater to such a large crowd? 2. Is it better to have a local wedding coordinator since they may be able to assist with vendor selections and the overall wedding planning? 3. How big are most of the villas? Could some of the guests stay there also (i.e. close family members) and then a shuttle could possibly bring all the other guests to the villa on the day of the wedding? 4. Are the villa weddings less expensive than the all-inclusive resort weddings? Thanks ladies! I'm really trying desperately to finalize the venue by the end of September.
