I am back from my wedding! It was really an amazing experience. We had a group of about 40 and everyone got along and had a great time. We had a wedding, another couple got engaged, a wedding ring was lost and then found....endless laughter and many fun experiences shared! Of course, there were a couple of very minor, very tiny things that did not go as expected, but in comparison to what went right...I am the happiest girl ever! I am not going to list out all the goods and bads...because that is somewhere already on this thread. I will just list out a couple of things that I wanted to share: We had 20 rooms booked. My sister had a brilliant idea to get a directly of our guests from the wedding coordinator. This helped out so much as when plans changed, we could easily make a phone call and leave a message. When you get to the hotel, make sure you know what places are open on what days and for what meals. We had to switch our restaurants twice as one was no longer ope for lunch and another was not open on Sundays. No big deal...thanks to the phone directory we had. Since my hubby and I were so busy...we hardly took any pictures. Thank goodness 4 of our friends took over 500 each. We created a photo sharing site on shutterfly. We rented the Amp...even though we had a very detailed list of music, the people controlling the amp did not follow it. Whoever is your MC, make sure they are on top of those people. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! It goes by so fast.

Welcome to all the new brides. This thread has been super helpful with planning the wedding. Thanks to everyone who post ideas, shares their thoughts and is supportive. Planning a destination wedding was a little harder than I thought, but this thread made it easier. I am leaving tomorrow morning! Time does fly and I can't believe its finally here! Woo woo! Time to go get married :-)

I am getting firedancers for a 30 minute show. I booked mine through a company outside the resort. I am paying the $800 vendor fee but the dancers & vendor fee is less than the firedancers through the hotel cost. But sadly, I was the last person to be able to use this outside vendor as the hotel no longer allows that company in. I have quotes for other firedancers I found if you want to check them out. Zúñiga Productions in Cancun (www.decocancun.com) and Tibor (You can find our company on facebook: nomadcirquel illusions email: [email protected]). You will need to check with Azul to see if they are a vendor that is allowed in.

I had the same issue. I was shocked by how many people did not respond. I sent out a reminder a week before, then ended up texting/calling those who did not respond. I totally understand how frustrating it is! Especially since one of the people who I had to text was one of my bridesmaids and even she did not respond until 5 days later (btw her answer was that she was not coming, I wasn't really shocked as her lack of response said it all). Oooopss now I am venting. Anyways, my wedding is next week. And even though there have been some hurdles along the way, I am excited and happy to look forward and move past all those little things!

That's very interesting! I think they should be able to tailor the wedding to the couples wants. I am doing a symbolic ceremony, but wanted to add a reading and a different vow. I was supposed to have a conference call with my WC and the onsite WC, but do to some emergency at the hotel the call got cancelled. Whenever it gets rescheduled, I will definitely ask them about this. Quote: Originally Posted by JennyBenz Hi Ladies!! I requested English-speaker, so hopefully that works out =/ Also, just found out we can't change any details of the ceremony and if we wanted to say our own vows, we'd have to do it after the ceremony concludes- really?! LOL I don't want to do that, as it's silly and really thought they'd let us play a little with the words being said since it's our wedding, but apparently not! Any advice, what did you experience? I'd appreciate your help =) Thanks everyone!! Jenny

I have 19 rooms booked and paid my balance to the resort. I know that the resort has a deal going...Groups of 16 to 30 rooms receive: Bride & Groom Stay Free, 20% discount off room rates, 20% discount off private events. I received the 20% discount off the private events and rooms. However does anyone know how the Bride & Groom Stay Free work? I paid the travel agent for my room over 6 months ago. Does the hotel refund me for the room? Any information on this would be really helpful!

Personalized gifts are great. For my bridesmaids, I bought them all the same locket, but inside each locket will be a different picture and quote. For my best guy friend (who is standing up on my side) I got him engraved guitar picks. My fiance decided to get all his groomsmen boardshorts, but they are all different for each persons taste. After he bought them, I even guessed correctly which shorts were going to which groomsman. I feel like any gift someone gets you is always appreciated because it always feels good to know they are thinking of you. I am sure whatever you decide, it will be a great choice!

I went through the same thing. There were three things that I decided were most important to me. 1. I narrowed down by Style: What kind of style of photography do you like? I do not want a lot of posed pictures. My favorite pictures are the ones that are captured when no one know they are even being photographed. 2. Price. I had a budget...don't we all? After I found about 6 photographers I liked, I emailed them all for samples of their work and pricing. 3. Responsiveness: There were photographers who got back to me in a couple days and others who took too long. I am always willing to pay a little more for professionalism and consistent communication. Hope this helps!

Thanks so much! Doing all this stuff myself is fun for me!!! Yes, please feel free to incorporate everything I have shared. Most of my ideas came from searching places like Etsy and then putting my own twist on it.

I received the koozies and they looked exactly like the image. The quality is good, they do not feel or look cheap at all. I definitely recommend them.

Yes, I created on vistprint. I search for a coupon and received 50% off plus free shipping. For 48 koozies, it cost me $45. I will let you know about the quality once I receive them.
