  1. I don't know why the wordsearch is at the top, crazy post box was giving me trouble with that one...
  2. Absolutely!! This is gonna be pic heavy, I took pictures of most of the pages, so they should come up...in terms of wording things like the welcome letter, I googled it. And other info like the Show and Activity schedule, I asked the resort for and they sent it, no problems...I just colour-coded it to make it smaller and easier to read... Any of the clip art or other pictures (like the one of Saona Island on the cover) are all off of Google Images. Same for the Sudoku puzzles....the wordsearch is off of a Discovery Kids website that I actually found on here... Sorry, some of the pictures are crappy...
  3. Thanks for the kind words!! I haven't given much thought to doing a planning thread, but I might once I'm out of things to do... I guess it would have helped if I'd actually written what we put in the bags...so here we go: -Mugs, with names attached -Straws with removable spoon end (6 for $1 at Party Packagers) -Golf Balls -Pashminas with co-ordinating clutch (this has the blue ribbon tied around it) -Luggage tags with sharpie -Snack Pack -Our Welcome book (worked out to about $11 each from Staples, but so worth it!!) -Punta Cana info books x3 (all from the D.R. Tourist office in TO, FREE!!) -A deck of cards with a personalized label And then the "Wedding Week Kit" which had: -Spanish for Dummies pocket book -Nail file -Glade air freshener -Purell -Tums -Bandaids -Peptos -Moist glasses cloths (Dollarama, 20 for $2) -Advils -Blistex with SPF -Emergen-C -Halls -Tide SInk Packs -Temporary Tattoos I am so sure that I missed stuff, there's just so much!!!!! 5. Yay!! The OOT bags are finally done!! Everything is packaged and bagged and ready to be delivered to their new homes!! I will post pictures soon!!
  6. I found glasses wipes at Dollarama $2/20 pack. I had the same thought though...it's not something that most people think to bring. I know I never have and my glasses are filthy by the end of the week.
  7. WooHoo!!!! OOT Bags are almost done!!! Just finishing off the welcome book, finding somewhere to print it, then all done and ready to be delivered!!!
  8. These things look awesome!! I doubt if I'm going to use them as my veil is crazy long, but they have potential to be really useful...that's someone who was thinking Thanks for the tip Kellygrrrl!!
  9. I wish I'd looked harder!! That's an awesome price, ours were a last minute addition to the OOT bags...good bargain hunting though!!! I've used it when I've had a cold (my mom used it when she got food poisoning on a flight to India...) and it does just give a boost of energy to get you through a couple of hours...I like them...
  10. Hey ladies! For anyone who's interested, Superstore sells the little Emergen-C packets in a box of 30 for $17.99. They are usually about $1.89 each. I figure they are great if you start feeling run down or crappy after the flights...it's a boost of Vitamin C...
  11. LOL! We must be!! Have you been to Cozumel before?? It's awesome!! Chankanaab Park is definitely worth a visit, and Ramon Zapata Divers is a fantastic operation...and a really great dive!!! (You can actually check out his son's page on Facebook, Pete Zapata, and he's one of the dive masters...) Great tip on the gym bags too!!!
  12. I think it would depend on the age of the kids...my recommendation is ask Mayte, she can answer your question the best... I only have a 20 month old coming...
  13. I'm a fan of the corset back because it does give a little bit of wiggle-room in terms of weight-gain/loss...I have 4 days of good eating and drinking, I will need it!!! Plus to me, it just has a romantic look to it... And I always knew I'd be a Maggie bride and most of her dresses are corset-backs Quote: Originally Posted by mrsrepp ok, question time: the very first wedding i was in (but none since then and i've been in a LOT of weddings), the bride had a lace up back and those of us that were her attendants vowed to NEVER have a lace up wedding dress for our weddings as it took us 3 times to finally get it right. but i see so many of you with lace up dresses and am now wondering if that's the way to go. thoughts? comments? would love to hear why you chose to go that route. thanks!
  14. I think this is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Don't worry about it looking too big, we've all been there....It's perfect for a beach wedding!!!
  15. Hi Norma!! I know that I'm getting to the point where there's not much left that I can do until I send our choices and such to Sandra, but it feels like there's so much more!! Plus we're doing the reception at the Jellyfish, but that part is pretty much done... That being said, OOT bags: everything is bought, just have to assemble Place Cards: know what we want to do, have everything to do them, just have to do them... Welcome book: so close!!! How's all of your planning?? Maybe I'll see your wedding
  16. Welcome Darcy! I know responses can be a little slow from Mayte, but as your date gets closer, she will respond faster.... Yes, we did have to put a deposit, it was 10% of our total cost. This is done through a wire transfer, Mayte will send you the information when you are ready... Our final head count will be sent probably closer to a month before, around the same time as the resort needs all of the same information... I think we got our invoice from Mayte and made our deposit some time in July or August, but I had been back and forth with her, figuring out what we wanted...(and waiting to get responses...) My best advice to you is to always go with your gut, it's your wedding, after all!!! Good Luck!!!
  17. This is gorgeous!! If you love it, go for it...don't compromise on your dress...then you'll have no regrets Quote: Originally Posted by beachwed2013 Last Try. If this doesnt work I give up! This is the dress I love, but I am getting pushback from family. Help!! Thoughts??!
  18. Hi Nicole...trust me when I say, choosing your resort is probably one of the hardest parts of a destination wedding...we are getting married at the Elegance, and I have heard that both the Elegance and Colonial do amazing work (they share co-ordinators...). A friend of mine just came back from her cousin's wedding and it looked beautiful. It took us forever to choose resorts, but we couldn't be happier with our decision. Good luck and don't be afraid to post any questions that you may have, we are all here to help each other!! Caitlin
  19. I'm 3 months today!!!! So much left to do!!! Quote: Originally Posted by kks2012 Yay, me too!
  20. We haven't been yet, but here's what we are planning...first off, instead of a guest book, we are using a Diver Down flag for our guests to sign...that being a unique thing for us, we decided that instead of doing a slide-show or a couple of our fav pictures, that we would do a photo book. This can stand up on the table by the flag set-up, so people can sign and check it out all at the same time...Our other option was to bring a cheap digital frame down and load it with pictures...then it's more mobile too... I believe (please double check with your TA or someone!!) that the DR is one of the few countries that does not require a "residency" prior to getting married...be patient with Mayte...she's the probably the busiest person on the planet, but once you have her attention, you will have it all...try emailing her again (I notice you are set for 4 months from now...try putting URGENT in the subject line...before anything else)...good luck!!
  21. I actually picked all of the font and the picture from Factory 21 on ebay....if you search "destination wedding travel mug" they should pop up....I think we had our proof within a day, and then all of the mugs within 2 weeks... Amanda...I will deifintely be giving the heads up about the sunscreen thing!! Thanks for the warning!!!
  22. Hey SS2012, thanks very much, I'm glad my mom thought of it...I've put in a picture of our mugs (nested inside each other, from Factory 21 on Ebay) and then the tag for my mug...it's not the best picture, but it's off of my BlackBerry...you'll get the general idea....
  23. I understand where it gets hard, but you just need the mantra that this is not your BIL's wedding, it's your wedding...it took me a while to stop thinking of my own brother's wedding, but once I did, it made my life so much easier!! Don't stress out, it'll all work out for the best!!!!
  24. Hey Ladies!! I just want to mention...for those of you that are looking for a way to label your mugs for individual guests, here's what we did... I went to Michaels and bought the little alphabet beads, and waxed cotton cord in our colours. So we spelled out everyone's names onto the cords (green for guys, turquoise for girls) and then tied them onto the handles. This makes it soooo much easier around the pool...plus then they are waterproofed!!!
