  1. Thank you ladies! I just realized that I have 5 months to go. This time last year I was trying to figure out how to announce our big news. Time sure does fly!
  2. My FI and I are purchasing the clothes for our attendants. My bridesmaid and I went on a lovely excursion to David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo. We went to David's first. The experience was nice and my girls liked two of the dresses. They tried these two dresses on and said they felt like the fairy witches from Sleeping Beauty. We went to the Alfred Angello and the experience was the worst. The customer service was horrible, their select was not that great, Things were falling apart and my girls were somewhat deflated by the experience. I'm so happy we went to David's first. I decided to go with the red dress but my will be in turquoise. I purchased them yesterday and informed my Bridesmaids that this is one of their gifts from us.

    Monogram

Signatures by Sarah, but she is not taking orders until January 3rd.
  4. I like the way your starfish looks like a sand dollar. Did you use the exacto knife to cut out that corner area?
  5. I wanted to do Running of the Brides earlier in the year but didn't have enough time to plan it. I found out that it was happening in October. I purchased shirts and then did screen printing and added some bling bling. The finished products come out to $2.50 per shirt. I purchased headbands and mardigras beads. That was an addition $2.
  6. Thank you, Ladies. I finally have a wedding date twin!!!! Thanks so much and same to you! So, since we decided on a destination wedding I decreased the brides maids from 6 to 3. I was trying to figure out a way to invite my brides maids. I was going to get them custom made cards by one of my friends. They were $10 but then I happened upon these really nice envelops. I purchased a drawing pad that gave the aged paper feel/look and some scrapbook stickers of beach scenery and flowers with some heartfelt words. I think all together is came out to be about $12 for all the supplies.
  7. Hello Ladies, So I tried to find a blog but was unsuccessful. I'm not really that organized but I'm better with doing things as I go so I think this would be good for me to have a place to chit chat, vent and celebrate. Where to start... My FI and I met in college our sophomore year in 2000 but we didn't actually get to know each other until 2007. We would see each other in our social circle, chit-chat here and there but never anything serious. He would give compliments and I would take them. Around that time, I was a serial dater and not open to a relationship. One day, we were at the same event (me volunteering, him attending) and he says that he became infatuated with me from that day. He asked me out, I thought he wanted to network so I told him he could hang out with me and my girls. He cancelled, because something came up and then tried again.. I finally got the hint that he was TRYING to date me and I agreed to the date and it was the best last first date, ever! I got all my " I don't do" I don't like" and he answered all my questions and then asked so when is the next time you're free? Fast forward 3 years later he asked me to marry him while we were celebrating our dating anniversary at a winery during a private dinner. We kinda "sat" in being engaged for a little before making the formal announcement. We announced our engagement on New Year's Day of 2011. http://animoto.com/play/bKKahGER6gb6xLCN01yjpA Tried doing the wedding planner, expensive dress, nice city wedding but it wasn't our reality. My FI joked about going out of the country and I agreed. He's learning that I make hair brain schemes a reality. We did some research and decided on a cruise wedding and I found this site. So far we have: Taken our Engagement photo shoot: I absolutely enjoyed our photographer We sent out our STD in August. Found my dress at Running of the Brides (just realized it was a convertible dress!) and have decided on the bridesmaides' dress. I'll be back with pics.
  8. They will be wearing Turquoise dresses.
  9. My MOH and I worked on a pomander during some best friend time. I think it came out well. Will have to change the type of wire and maybe put the loop on before the tissues. But I think it will work.

    DIY Adventures of a

My attempts and adventures of being crafty and budget savvy.
  11. Random surprise: I tried on my dress that I got from Running of The Brides for my mom and I was telling her the alterations I wanted to make (one of which is making it a convertible dress). To my surprise, it is ALREADY a convertible dress. That is so awesome! Now I don't have to pay $300 for that and I can just get the regular alterations done. This $750 dress is getting even better and better!
  12. I just saw details regarding the tissues pomanders in Brides.
  13. The day before our wedding day! I see that you are new here, Enjoy! It is the best resource ever!
  14. Yeah, I swear this DW idea was the best one ever! The stress is a lot less than the state side idea. I went to the dress designer website and david's, picked out the dresses I like. It was about 6 or 7 dresses from each. Called to ensure they were available and knocked them out in one day. I also took pictures of them in all the dresses.. front and back view so I could reflect on which one I thought look nice on all of them. I'm having my MOH go back and try on a dress that we missed (still trying to decide if they will wear the same or different dresses) and another BM try on the two dresses again with heels on. So I should have the BM dress decided by the second week in December. There is a unique ceremony thread and wording thread which is very helpful. I'm going to work on it then give it to my pastor for her to give a personal spiritual once over.
  15. I'm getting the wording together for the invitations and going to do some printing run throughs this weekend. I have to choose between two bridesmaid dresses. Already put deposit on caterer for AHR. Working on ceremony wording. I want to send the invitations out by January 2.
  16. Ok for some reason it did not post the content from last night. We are going to go with the flowers offered with the package and I will bring some bling and peacock feathers to spruce them up. I'm thinking about making tissue paper pomanders (December Brides magazine) and have my bridesmaids carry those or make peacock wrist corsages and boutonnieres.
  17. I plan to go with the flowers that come with our package for my FI and I ( I think I will bring feathers and bling to add some personality) and make pomanders or peacock wrist corsages for the bridemaids and boutonnieres for the groom's men.
  18. In Maryland there is currently a deal going for an hour BD shoot with Three Boudoir. I'm excited because I have already decided to go with them before the deal! A huge savings from what I was originally quoted. Awesome!
