  1. Well, it's not completely finished, but it's getting there! Here's my DIY bridal bouquet so far. The white "ribbon" is paper in the pic just to see how it looks. I'll go get the white ribbon from Michael's tomorrow to do it for real. It ended up not being as big as I'd planned, but I still love it!!!! Not sure if I'll add the swav. crystals in some of the blooms or not. I kind of like the more natural look, especially with the burlap (which I LOVE). I will also need to get the end trimmed somehow so that there's only an inch below the burlap showing. I want it cleanly cut across. Any ideas on how to do this?? Home Depot?? (The stakes are wooden.) Will post the final pics! Hopefully I finish tomorrow. Then, it's off to make the bridesmaids' bouquets! Woo Hoo!!!! On a completely unrelated note to this bouquet.... Coconoir -- I found this pic in my phone as I was trying to upload the bouquet pic. I thought of you and your theme of metamorphosis with the butterfly!! My FI and I went to a butterfly house some odd weeks ago, and it was a completely magical experience. We even saw butterflies emerging from cocoons and others taking their first flight. I love how the pic says the Magic of Metamorphosis. I know your journey with your Hubby-to-be will be magical as you both take flight. Love!
  2. Did you use wooden stems when you made smaller bunches? I feel like the hydrangeas are difficult to use except in the bunch they come in. Great idea to make smaller bunches then tape them together!
  3. Thank you!!! It's still a work in progress. Will post more pics when I'm further along + bridal bouquets & groomsmen bout's. My BM's dresses are turquoise/teal. That's why their bouquets will just be the white & green colors.
  4. Praying for all you ladies having your wedding soon with everything happening weather-wise down there. Sending much Love and Positive prayer!
  5. Thank you for this info! It seems like this felt like a mini reception - I was worried I'd have to miss out on the special events at a reception like first dance & cake cutting if we did the dinner. Thanks for sharing!!! Glad it worked out so well for you!
  6. Congratulations!!! Glad it went better than you thought! Can't wait to see your review.
  7. Thank you so much for posting your tips!! I hope your day and stay was everything you wanted it to be.
  8. Oh, does anyone know if Hobby Lobby lists their wedding deals on their weekly ad on their website? When I look on there, I feel like I don't see them, and I'm not sure whether it's just that they're not having a deal or whether they never list the Wedding section being on sale.... Need to know so I can start making my bachelorette gift bags!!!! Anyone else doing bachelorette gifts?
  9. So, I'm feeling a bit frustrated since I've had multiple trials to make my own bridal bouquet, and I'm still having some challenges. I'm going for a round bouquet with these flowers and colors, but it ends up being SOO small!! I want the size to be about 3 times as big. I'm using wooden stakes and using floral tape to tape on the blooms at the top, so the problem arises with the stakes not being flexible. Going to head to Michael's (they know me by my first name now, hahaha) to see about getting some small styrofoam to put at the top to space out the flowers to make the round shape bigger. The good news is that I LOVE the colors, and that it's turning out exactly how I want there. AND the smaller shape here is going to work well for the bridesmaids bouquets I'll make (which will just be the white and green flowers). I'm going to put some pearls and swav. crystals inside some of the blooms and do a ribbon wrap at the bottom. Wish me luck!! Hope I can solve this today ---- been wanting to check this off my list for ages!!!
  10. These look fabulous, Coco!!!!! Check, check, check! What did you use the MS ballpoint-tip glue pin for? Never seen one of these... perhaps it's something I need to add to my tool collection! And thanks for the reminder to get my car inspected for winter, LOL!
  11. Thanks for all the info, Chelsea!!! These shirts look like so much fun. Soft shirts are definitely necessary though, haha. Appreciate the heads up on where to get some!! You ROCK!
  12. YESSS for getting your beautiful invites done soon!! So psyched for you! Send me a glass, will ya? Registering took so long for us! We did Target, BB&B, & Pottery Barn. He got tired of it all, l think, so when it came to Pottery Barn, he said I could do it by myself. TOTALLY fine by me because I could go to town on decorating our place!! He was particular about what he wanted at BB&B too, haha, but it was fun. But I left thinking..."who needs an automatic flosser??" HAHA!
  13. BTW, anudrm ---- totally purchased that Friskar's cutter last week. There was a kit where I got a circle cutter, oval cutter, 2 cutting guides, and a cutting mat for $44 at Michael's --- and with my 40% off coupon, I got it for $28! BAM! So excited I wanted to share it with you. Thanks for the tips on supplies!!! Can't wait 'til I get to use it on our Do Not Disturb hangers...
  14. Wow, you've gotten a lot done!!! I'm with you on the super tight budget. I've found out though that I can still have my dream wedding, I just need to pull out my creativity and innovation like it's my JOB! (and get lots of ideas from the FI) What's next? It seems like you're almost there!
  15. Love these ---- the boxes make them look like real kits!! Where'd you get the boxes from?
  16. YES - this site is a Godsend. I don't know who I'd talk to if it weren't for this site!! My FI seems pretty uninterested in the whole thing since he says the only thing he wants is to marry me --- and if I want a wedding celebration, that's fine with him. He has helped me do some DIY stuff (if I twist his arm, lol), and we got the groomsmen shoes last weekend, and are going shopping this weekend for his suit and more groomsmen clothes. But I have stopped asking him his advice on certain things in case he gives me his input and it's totally different than I'd planned on hahaha. But we've gone through our budget and he knows about all these projects. He's just trying to keep me balanced so that we still have a relationship during all this planning!!!
  17. Loving these, DIY projects, ladies!!! We have some talented ladies on here! Jamie - love how you made the fonts simpler --- they look AWESOME!! Great on that paper, too. Merrylee - You've been hard at work!! I think it's great that your FI wanted to make them with you, too! What a keeper!
  18. I'm loving your script!!! I hope you don't mind, but as I'm working on mine, I took some excerpts of yours as well. I like how brief it is. I feel like mine has a lot more since I incorporated 2 readings, the rose ceremony, and the hand ceremony!! But I love what it says. Now, it's time to share it with the FI and get his feedback/make any alterations.... then run it by our officiant!! Thank you for sharing your beautiful script.
  19. When I sent Marvin an email to both of these addresses, he responded to me in about a week. I highly suggest using both and typing a clear Subject so that it doesn't go to a spam folder. Hope you ladies hear from him soon!!
  20. Georgeous, summer12!!! Love these! Great work. Yesss - Hobby Lobby is fantastic for crafting, and I never pay full price either! Spent like 2 hours there yesterday for wedding stuff, LOL.... xo
  21. Dearest Jamie --- It's okay to feel disappointed, especially if you envisioned more of your friends there. To reiterate what other ladies have shared about this with you --- your day is going to be magnificent whether they decide to be a part of it or not. And it is indeed their loss. They will be wishing they had made the effort to go when they find out what an awesome event and vacation it was! It's hard to hear that your friends aren't going to join you, but you have several people willing to travel out of the country to celebrate with YOU!! Concentrate on that. I know you'll make it an awesome experience and love every minute of it, regardless of who decides to share in it with you! xoxo
  22. , Monica! Congratulations on picking MP! I think it depends how deeply you want to go into your DIYs and how much you enjoy them/have a knack for them... and how much time you have. Several ladies of here have shared STUNNING projects they've made themselves and GORGEOUS projects that they've hired professionals to do. Myself, I'm DIY all the way. And all I use is Paint (LOL). I wish I had photoshop, but i've honestly been using paint for years, so it's what I'm used to! I just use it with Microsoft Word. Welcome to the forum! And Happy Planning --- you've got a lot of awesomeness ahead of you. And we are here to support you all the way.
  23. What do you ladies think... I haven't had many people look at our website so far, even though we sent the invitations 3 weeks ago. I know this because when people ask me about hotel info, l say, "Have you looked at our website?" And their answer is "Uhhhh...." Haha. This troubles me because bookings need to be paid in FULL by mid Dec in order to count towards our bookings, apparently! Eeeeek! So, the FI and I have decided to send out fun postcards to everyone as a "reminder" to check our site, while keeping it fun. One side will have our old Cancun treasure map on it that we used as the background for our invitations, and the other side will be the postcard message. I'm thinking that the message will say something like: What treasure have you found on our website yet? - Easy hotel booking - New Packing List page! - Test out your Spanish skills... - All travel info you need Then list the website and password. I'm thinking though that it may not be enough incentive for them to look at the website NOW. So I was thinking of adding an RSVP deadline on there - maybe November 20th or something?? What do you think would entice them to look at our website without being all "Look at our website NOW" LOL!!! <--- without the angry face! 24. GOOD NEWS - I contacted the MP salon directly (I think it was Karla) and asked her about resort credits being used for wedding day hair/make-up. She said YES they can be used for this, contrary to what other coordinators told me in previous emails. I'm going with it! She also provided me pricing info, which I have below. Also, I recieved info on the fireworks companies and what services they provide & prices. Thought I'd post these in case anyone wanted to know. I hope this helps someone! Happy Planning! xoxo Here's what I recieved for the salon info: Here's the fireworks info for one of the companies MP recommends: MENU BEAUTY PARLOR MOON PALACE NIZUC AND SUNRISE.xls.pdf SPA MENU moon palace 2011.pdf Pyro-Palace2011Brochure.pdf
