Congrats, Jamie!!!! I heard that Secrets is an amazing resort! I used Yankee Candle Company - Sun and Sand. It was the diffuser oil, and I put the corks in a baggie with the oil overnight. I liked it because it totally smelled like the beach to me (and sunscreen). People seem to get the idea! Had another person comment on it today. Gorgeous detail on your dress!!!!! Very pretty silhouette, too! P.S. I second that nomination! -
Just wanted to update ---- some have already recieved our invites!! My FI has recieved 3 texts so far; here's what they said: 1) "OMG!!! Just got your wedding invitation in the mail!!! Holy $@#! that's adorable!!! Nice work u two!!! I love it!!! 2) "Got the invite today. That's probably the coolest invite we've ever got. Good job. We are not gonna be able to make it though. Thank you very much for the invite and thinking about us." 3) "Holy $#!%! Such a cool wedding invitation!! How did you make it smell like hte beach!?" So there we are!! SUCCESS --- at least from an excitement factor, which is what we were going for! Now, hopefully, they will check out the website and get even more excited and book. I mean, it must be good if we got 2 "Holy $#!%"'s, right?!? Hahaha. Plus, I'm psyched that someone thinks they smell like the beach! I scented the corks like WAY to early (like 5 weeks early, haha), so that's awesome! A HUGE thank you to MrsWeiss for taking the time and energy to start this thread with your INCREDIBLE idea!!! I couldn't have done this at all without you. Here's to praying for a lot of bookings!!!

Oooooooh ---- love this!! Great timing, too, as I'm figuring out the decor aspects of things. Makes it easier to see how everything matches and comes together. P.S. Haven't emailed you back in FOREVER because I wanted my next email to show you some ideas I've come up with, too, like you showed me.... but I have to collect them first, LOL!! I haven't forgotten about you at all! Just still collecting them. Just wanted to let you know, Feb sister. -

So the invites are SENT!!!! The post office said that they came to exactly $2.56 a piece, which means I could put exactly four 64 cent wedding stamps on them ---- perfect because I could put two on each side of the recipients address. HUGE CHECKMARK!! Double-checked my website, and it's good to go!! Now to pray about bookings, along with some of you other ladies who've already sent your invites. So excited to hear feedback. Multiple people at the post office commented on how they loved them, and that was only the outside of them! P.S. Thanks again Coconoir about the note of the $88. I love how you phrased your Booking page, so I used a lot of your ideas for my page and revamped it, hoping that I'll get a lot of bookings. I hope that's ok! If not, let me know. -

LOVE these --- look so "classy" yet laid back with the sandals. Maybe my groom will wear this, and the groomsmen will wear the same but without the suit jacket? Hmmm... Thanks for sharing --- is Pinterest.com geared towards weddings or just photo organization? (Just checking before I delve into another site that kidnaps me, like this one, LOL!) Any inspiration photos are really helping me right now. The beach balls are cute! Thanks!!! I love the Amber package. I'm thinking of somehow combining the colors of the Amber and Sapphire packages. My colors are: What does an upgrade of a package include? Congrats on getting enough bookings for a Cocktail Hour!! Any pics of tips on making your own boutinneres? That's an avenue I've thought about to cut down on cost, but I'm nervous about it. Congrats on booking your make-up/hair & photographer!!! Big checkmarks!! I've booked Octavio, too! I'm really excited. I also heard great things about him, and his prices are awesome --- that's why we'll be able to do a TTD! Woo hooo!!! -

Can't wait until our guests start booking and we can start getting a head count and know if we will qualify for a reception. Working on: - Ceremony decorations ----- anyone have any inspirational pics of beach weddings with the huppah/aisle/chair decs? - Flowers - Groomsmen attire ---- what's everyone doing? pics? - Hair/Make-up (waiting for MP to get back to me once AGAIN on whether I can use Resort Credit... asking Iliana now, hehe) Happy Planning! -

Perry 1217 - Many thanks for the info and inspiration to not give up. I'm going to PM you to see if you can email me the attachment (I can't open attachments on here yet). Alaharri - Thank you. Celebrating your progress and purchases!! Will you post your Pre-Travel Boarding passes? I'm thinking of doing something like that and sending out Luggage Tags with them to get people excited. With the fabulous things you've posted thus far, I'm excited to see what these look like!! -

Alaharri - Do you mind sharing who it was that told you? I've had two people tell me no (because I wanted to double-check). I still don't want to give up on it! Will save a lot of money!! -

Congratulations, Summer12!!! What did you wear? I'm going to change my name after we have our symbolic ceremony in Cancun, too! -
When I just responded to Lucy at MP again saying how disappointed I was that we couldn't do sky lanterns, she apologized but insisted that we're too close to the airport. Since you have the go ahead and you've already bought them, would you mind sharing your experiences after your wedding to confirm you sent them?? Then, maybe us brides after you can find a way to make it happen, too!! Frustrating how we get told different things sometimes...

I'm still deciding what I will wear for the courthouse official secret wedding, too. I'm going to save the wedding dress for the MP wedding, but I still want to wear something special and white. It will be February though, and it's already turning winter... I may just go to my fave store - White House Black Market and see what cute things they have! (Still have $10 off coupon for my bday! haha) If you want your FI to be surprised both times, what do you think you'll wear? -

Yes, my coordinators said that I couldn't use resort credit for the wedding salon services... have any other brides that have asked heard differently about this? YWS2012 -- love the shimmery designed envelopes your using! YAY for being able to send yours out!!! Jamie -- really excited to hear what you find out. I've also contacted Adrian (found his info) and been talking back and forth with Melissa's manager, Edgar. The prices are pretty high for our budget, but I know what you mean about it being a really special day and just wanting to do it. Are you doing a TTD? BEST WISHES for your dress shopping!!! I just went with my MOH and we made a fun day out of it --- sushi & martinis, then went out to have fun. And lo and behold, I found mine at the first place we went (after trying on like 8)! TED - Yes, I switched from civil to symbolic. We decided to get married in the US first before going so my Granny could be included. Since we switched, I've also found out it's saving us hundreds to do it this way, too! Plus, our friend will be marrying us at MP so we can do our own script and blessings. -

Me too, Jamie -- I've been researching this myself. I originally wanted to use MP's salon because I thought the resort credit could apply towards that. Now, I've found out that we can't use our credit towards wedding salon services. These are some good things I've read in reviews on here about the MP salon (below). I'm also considering hiring someone outside the resort -- was looking at Sara Tamargo who uses MAC, but she doesn't have many pics up on her site (saratamargo.com). Also, I asked for prices from Melissa from MVP, who seems like she'd be GREAT, I'm just not sure if I can rearrange our budget to book her. (If you want her prices, PM me.) Also heard good things about someone named Adrian who uses MAC (but don't have any further info unfortunately) and someone named Fernando Fuentes whom I haven't researched yet. I hope some of this helps. I'm curious to also know what you find out. Would you be willing to share some of your findings with me? I absolutely loved Doris. From the trial to the day of, she impressed me with her work. She was very sweet and nice. I brought in pictures as examples and she knew exactly what I wanted. I was a little nervous for makeup since I didn’t have a trial but for the first time ever, I didn’t look like a drag queen. I brought my own makeup and lashes and she used a mix of mines and hers and it was perfect. The heat did mess with the lashes because by the end of the night, they were coming off. But my makeup stayed on really well and I was really impressed and felt really beautiful the day of my wedding. SALON A++: I got my hair done at the Nizuc salon by Maria. They wouldn’t let me choose who would do my hair, but I was very happy with Maria. I have a lot of hair, so my appointment took about 2 hours and 15 minutes! I am very happy I scheduled for an hour earlier than they had recommended! She did an amazing job. I brought several pictures, and she did almost exactly what I wanted. She did try to put in a bump at the crown (which I did not want and was not pictured) and was pinning the curls in front in such a way that it almost looked like a halo, but once we fixed that, it truly was perfect! My only complaint would be that it didn’t hold up very well. Curls were falling out before I even go to the ceremony, so I’d say bring lots of hairspray and extra bobby pins for touch ups. Our wedding was scheduled to start at 3:00 so I booked my hair and makeup for 11:30. My appointment was booked with Alberto, and he did a fabulous job. He did my hair exactly like the pictures I provided and was able to cover up my peeling forehead with a great makeup job. -

Welcome, LadyDi!! I'm not sure about the answers, to your questions, but they did give me the email address of the company that does the catamaran tour, who I believe would be able to answer your questions. If you'd like it, PM me. Thank you SO much, Mochamakes. You've already answered a few of my questions, too (some that I asked you in another thread about your sashes/decorations- disregard those, haha!). Great review!!
