  1. Hello Again ladies!!! KimmySue or anyone else that has done this...I saw in pictures that you had striped straws and little banners with your date on the straws for the drinks at the cocktail hour...I am assuming you did this and not the resort...correct? Thanks!!
  2. We are getting married in May in Riviera Maya and having a regular, formal reception back at home on July 6th. Since it is a holiday weekend I want to send out Save the Dates for the AHR. We are inviting a lot more people to the AHR than the Wedding (already sent out save the dates for the wedding!) My question is how should I word the Save the Dates for the AHR? I need it to be short and sweet but I want people to know that it is just a reception. Thanks for the ideas!!
  3. I am also deciding on a rehearsal dinner or welcome cocktail hour. We aren't going to have too many people with us so I feel like we probably would be going to dinner or to get drinks together anyways so I don't know if I need something scheduled. Also, does the resort print out menus for the tables or do I have to do that?
  4. Caroline - I am using Wendy as my travel agent and she has been awesome! I am not having too many people attending the wedding but those that are and that have been in touch with Wendy all agree that she is great.
  5. Thanks all the love! I thought it was just gifts but I wasn't sure if what else! I don't think that I will have anything over $300. I may make sure that I keep it that way!!
  6. Thanks Kim! I know that all the love said that they got stuck in customs so I wasn't exactly sure what I had to declare going into Mexico. I am trying to not bring too much stuff with me just to make it easier. Good to know about Angel...I wasn't sure if I had to bring my own makeup or if she would have everything that I would need!
  7. Another question! For those of you that had paper lanterns...how many did you bring? My reception is going to be on the terrace. Thanks
  8. @kimmysue and all the love, Both of your pictures are beautiful!! I am surprisingly very calm about everything but then again I still have about 6 months to go!! I am, however, getting nervous about customs and declaring items! What exactly do you have to declare? Just gifts? Also, this is probably a dumb question, but does Angel have makeup that he uses or does he ask that you bring your own? I have my own makeup but I just didn't know if I needed to bring it for him for the wedding! Thanks ladies!!
  9. So glad that you asked this!! Also, have you printed programs for the guests with your timeline? Have fun at your wedding!! It is sooooo close
  10. These are all still available! Let me know if you are interested
  11. I would also like to see some programs people have had. Thanks in advance!!!
  12. I agree that most were over $2000. We booked Gonzalo Nunez and we are paying $1700 for 6 hours of coverage. We will receive all of the rights to the pictures. His pictures are very good and he has been incredibly nice and answers emails very quickly. melissa80 - I want to do a signature drink but I have no idea what to do and what to call it! Keep me posted if you do one.
  13. I believe Pilar told me that all I would have to do is pay the day pass, which is $50 or $65...I can't remember the exact number but I know that it wasn't anywhere near $350. Maybe once you are done there and face to face with Ana it might be easier to negogiate some things. Good Luck!
  14. We aren't techically bringing a photographer, I booked Gonzalo Nunez. He has been absolutely fantastic! We will have him included in our count for dinner and I think we just have to pay $50 for a day pass for him. I struggled finding someone who was in our budget but Gonzalo not only has great photographs but he is also had the best package for the price that I could find. I haven't had my wedding yet but so far he has been nothing but great! Good luck!
  15. I have Pilar as my WC. I didn't really have to do much, I just asked. I am not using the resort photographer and I am not having a band play during the ceremony (I think that is what they changed in the package instead of having a DJ.) Who is your WC...it seems that Ana doesn't let any switching but so far with Pilar I haven't had any issues. Good Luck!!
  16. I can't help you out with the taste testing but I would love to see pictures when you get back!! Also, has anyone used the DJ from the resort? It isn't included in the 2012 package but I'm not using the photographer so I was able to get a DJ for 2 hours. Was the DJ good? Were you in touch with him prior to the wedding to figure out the music that you wanted played? Thanks for the help!!
  17. This isn't really wedding related but I have 3 nephews that will be coming for the wedding and my sister was asking about Milk and drinks for the room. They are younger so they still have milk before bed and wasn't sure if this is something that they can request have stocked in the room. What has been everyone's experience with taking young children to the resort? Thank you!
  18. I have done everything through Pilar. She is usually pretty quick to get back to me. I am not using the resort photographer or the band during the ceremony so I was told I can get a DJ for 2 hours instead. There are a few other things I may try to swap out...like instead of a private transfer get a free trail hair and makeup run...I also think that things will add up quickly for centerpieces...I do not need a bouquet so I may try to work out something for that. What has everyone done regarding the OOT bags? I don't want to have to have too much to bring on the plane with me but I don't know what I can get down there! Any suggestions? Thanks

  22. Thank you! I am not having a bridal party so I wasn't quite sure how they would do that! Thanks for the help...I am sure that I will have more questions!
  23. Hi Everyone!!! I just noticed this thread! I am getting married May 17, 2012 at Now Jade resort in Mexico! Congrats everyone
  24. Hi everyone!!! I was wondering what other brides did for their music walking down the aisle. Did you just play a song from an ipod or did you have a guitarist or band? If you played it from your ipod, did you play the whole song or did you somehow cut it down? I don't know if I can afford to get a guitarist (which is what I wan!) but I am not really sure how to do it with a cd or ipod...I feel like letting the whole song play through might be too long? I was going to email Pilar and ask her what other brides do but thought I would ask here first. Thanks!! P.S - Anyone else getting married while I will be down there? I am getting married on May 17th and will be there from May 14th- 21st!!
