Havent been on here for a little while. Congrats to all the new Mrs. and thanks for all of the helpful reviews. I am so excited!!! I can finally start planning and putting together my invites....almost. I have a date set with my TA but she is just trying to confirm it with the hotel. January 14th 2013!! AND..... someone on here told me to take a look January and my rates went down from $1955 to $1720, and hopefully they will go down from there(thank you to whoever that was) I had a little bit of a scare last week, they dropped the flights from Calgary to Jamaica for next year so we thought they would do the same for Edmonton, and Jamaica would not be an option.(well it would if we wanted to go VIA Toronto and make it an 11 hour flight which would not have done).I am getting super stoked!!! This has been a GREAT week, I also bought my dress yesterday. I found my perfect dress while trying on dresses on saturday. with alterations it was out of my budget, $1725+$500 worth of alterations. So i decided to call around, and it was the same price everywhere I called but alterations were cheaper at some places. I had called a store in Red Deer to see if they would sell their smple size to me and they had just sold it over the weekend. BUT then the owner called me back and said that a girl had ordered the same dress and had come in to try it on and had snagged it and had wanted to re-order another one. They were going to send the dress back to the manufacturers but said she would sell it to me for $999, so I drove down there yesterday and bought me a dress!!!!!!You cant even see the snag at all. I LOVE IT!!!! and evern more since I got a hell of a deal!! Sorry for the long post, but I am super stoked!!!!!!!

These are the prices we were quoted for early March 2013, but they cant actually be booked until this feb because they are not even sure if Air transat will be operating direct flights out of edmonton in 2013, so we will find out in feb. We were really wanting to go when it is colder here to get away(jan-march). I dont think June would work for us, but its good to know the huge price difference. My self and my fiance and some others realize that Jamaica is not as cheap as mexico, but i think there intitial reaction to the cost will be to compare it to our friends wedding :|. My TA said it is definately possible for the rates to go down and that she will try to have some kind of bidding war betweeen air transat and sunquest( thats if they are both operating out of edmonton in 2013) Thanks for the rates you got and the advice!!

So we got our rates back from the TA and......eeekkkkk!!! $1955 for one week and $3200 for 2 weeks!!!!!!! This was ALOT more than we thought it would be, but the Fiance and I agreed that we would still pick this resort if it was $2000 or under, $2000 was our max.Our friends got married in mexico in May of 2011 and we paid $1800 for 2 weeks, so we are pretty worried that all of our same friends are going to be pretty upset about these rates(fingers crossed, the rates go down before we sent out invites!) Our TA is amazing and keeps us updated on everything, she says it may go down, but we cant book anything until mid feb because the airline may stop operating out of edmonton in 2013, so we will have to wait and see. I would just love to know now, so I can get started on my STD while I dont have a huge couseload for school. Thanks Kim, have you guys actually booked your date with the hotel, my TA says it may be too far away to actually book the date through the hotel, but I had told her that I have seen a couple of brides on this forum who look like they are already booked in 2013. Good to know about the rates in Jan-feb may be cheaper, we figured we would go more around march-april cuz it would be cheaper, but I guess we will have to see what the rates come back like. where are you guys flying out of. And what are the rates that you got, if you dont mind me asking. I am getting so excited, but i dont want to get too ahead of myself and find out the rates are too high.

WOW!!! I have spent almost everyday of my Christmas holidays on this thread reading through ALL 304 pages!!! I have learned so much from all of the future and past brides on this forum. My FI and I got engaged in May of this year and knew that we wanted a destination wedding. We really wanted to go somewhere different, and wanted costa rica. We found it was far too expensive and not alot of AI resorts there. We then started looking at Cuba and Panama, anywyas long story short the BGP is where we want to get married. I called my travel agent up and told her this was the place! so we are just waiting to hear back with some rates so we can set a date.We told our TA anytime between Jan-May of 2013(whichever is cheapest and still good weather) We are so set on this resort, I sure hope that the rates come back resonable(fingers crossed).We will find out in the new year. Hi everyone, I am new here! well sort of, I have been snooping around wonderful forums for ideas for the last few months, when time permits with school. But I am done classes for winter break, and it wedding planning crunch time! I am so confused as to where to plan. We originally wanted Costa Rica or Jamaica, but is too expensive, then thought about Panama and then Cuba, but I have heard horror stories of trying to get your own photographer into Cuba and getting really nice pictures is very important to us. So we looked back at Panama again and my fiance does not like the look of the beaches there. They are very rocky and not very clear. If anyone has any suggestions and could help us out, I would really appreciate it. Ideally something like antigua or bahamas would be nice, but is too pricey. We were hoping to find something under $2000 w/ taxes. Also Dominican and Mexico are not an option for us because we have recently been there for our friends weddings and we typically have the same guests and they would like to go somewhere different.(as would we) I know I sound picky, but i am hoping someone has some suggestions for me THANKS!!!
