Hi TRW26, Our wedding is October 2012 and they won't let me do anything... That said, my TA is doing a site visit in 3 weeks- (she happens to be on vacation with her husband!!)- and hopefully I can get some contact info and someone good to deal with. I will be more than happy to pass it along if and when I get something helpful. I am worried about the same thing. There are 3 weddings the same day as mine! 4pm, 5pm and 6pm!! I'm at 36 guests and we are a year out still... I have my heart set on cocktails and dinner outside- if the other brides want it too? We're all screwed... I'll be in touch...

We are doing the same thing! Quietly, only legal, in Canada, and the emotional and 'real' deal will be in Mexico. The only problem is FI kept telling people and he is a horrible liar. LOL- so now ALL questions are directed to me and I am the one saying "We're getting married in Mexico." That's all people need to know.

HI! We're getting married at Playacar too! 10.10.11 Your best bet is a TA who specializes in DW. Mine has been going back and forth with Yesenia as well, and it has cost me zero stress. She found a great deal through WestJet, in Toronto, and all the info was emailed to my guest list with appropriate links for the palace resort website, and trip advisor etc... we also included all of the credit info per room at Palace. Don't try to do it yourself. You'll go crazy... Good luck

Thank you thank you thank you for starting this thread.... BM's girlfriend- seems as though she thinks the price for kids is too high... well, yes... it's not an amusement park for a long weekend... It's a 5 star in the Mayan. Your ex-husband can keep your son for the week, I would enjoy him there and there will be other children there, but I can understand the expense. Then of course she had the nerve to ACTUALLY say "You know, I just don't want our first family vacation to be around so many people." Ummmmmm- not about you. She is forcing her boyfriend to come alone and pay a pretty steep single supplement. He's the BEST MAN... Good family friends- wouldn't DREAM of missing our wedding... apparently Oct 2011 is too early to commit for Oct 2012... Not sure if they can get the time off... new job and all... yeah- Canadian Labour law would disagree with you... I guess what upsets me are the inconsiderate people... as many of you have mentioned. You know what??? IT"S OUR WEDDING. We went above and beyond by taking into consideration price point, proximity to town, proximity to the airport, amenities, beach, best time of year for most guests, child friendly etc... etc... It took us months! Had it been up to me? Super luxury all inclusive in St Lucia-but guess what? I abided by the price point people said they were comfortable with... AND! with all said and done? 15 months for $$ planning. Our TA found SUCH a good deal, that she is booking herself to come! We have 18 people booked from Canada and 4 from California- truth be told?? Almost EVERY single one of our must-haves is coming. The rest? Check it out- you missed the wedding of the year!

Absolutely agree. Most people who really matter will be there. I understand there are a few legitimate reasons for not coming to our DW, but when your future sister in law and family aren't coming... It just makes me so sad for my future husband. He only has one sister and she can't make it. I know he is upset, but doesn't want to make a big deal of it. Now there's talk of an AHR... Really?? This is why we are going to MEXICO! I will soak up the sun, the tequila and the love of family and friends who are there!! Best wishes ladies!

Hi! We chose Playacar Palace. 1. more intimate 2. GORGEOUS BEACH 3. walking distance to town and the Cozumel ferry that can take you across- beautiful snorkeling. 4. good food. 5. beautiful location for your ceremony You might want to check out Aventura Cove Palace- great stuff for the kids- big property and amazing spa. we were there in July and can speak first hand to the great staff, beautiful lagoons for lazy swimming- no tide- very safe for kids. they shuttle you between the Palaces if you so wish. I have been lurking for a few weeks and everyone is so helpful! I have a question, and forgive me if it has been answered. I want to decorate with starfish, but can't find in Toronto, nor a website that will ship to Canada? Have any of you found starfish in Canada?
