  1. I absolutely love the idea of writing them together and having the officiant have us repeat them. I am running that by my fiancee. We are also having a symbolic wedding. I originally was going to have my brother officiate the ceremony but I think thAt would entail him getting ordained or something. Are you guys having the resort set you up with a officiant? We are using the Israel version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It's so pretty. Thanks about the song Yellow. It's my fav song and I'm a huge coldplay fan so it's a win win.
  2. Hi again! I told Ana that we would want their dj for the reception. I asked her if I could give him or her our playlist and she said yes. I guess this a complete gamble but im thinking how bad can he possibly be? Lol. Also when I was at the resort the dj by the pool area plays music till 1 am. They were pretty good. We are having our dj for only three hours during our reception 7-10 pm. I figure if people want to keep partying they can continue their festivities by the pool area. We are also getting a mariachi band for the cocktail hour on the beach. When we were there, we saw them playing for a wedding at the villa marina and they sounded awesome! It really got their party going. I do have to tell you that if you are planning on getting married on the beach, I would go with the private beach on the far end of the resort. Yes it is next to that house with the not appealing to the eye gate but it's better than having random passerbys watching you get married. You don't want those people in their bikinis and board shorts in your pics either. Lol. We watched two weddings when we were there and one was over on the public beach part and there were little kids building sandcastle not even five feet away from the ceremony. The one in the private beach, we were only able to see it happening because our suite balcony faced that part of the resort. Very intimate. Also, just a lil warning, make sure they have the right songs for your bridal march. My fiancee and I started cracking up when they played the song that plays when your done getting married while the bride was walking down the isle!!!!! For this reason, I am putting someone other than the resort staff in charge of this task. My wedding party is walking down to Coldplay's song Yellow and I am walking down to Somewhere Over The Rainbow and we are walking out to Michael Franti's Say Hey. Btw, are you girls saying your own vows? I'm nervous about that. Lol.
  3. Wow! Those Save the dates are amazing!!!! And kudos to you for doing it all on your own! I will keep all of you posted what I end up doing. Hey Lauren!!! :-) you can totally stalk me! Lol. Thanks for the door hanger tip. Didn't even think about that. That is good for us to know. I certainly won't be doing that.
  4. Hi guys, I do plan on using yellow, pink and orange paper lanterns. The theme of our wedding is Island Chic. Yellow is my fav color but there will be hints of orange and pink in there too. I think the terrace is good enough and we wont request a dance floor, I figure we will just use the space on the lobby terrace. From pics I have seen, it is big enough. When I was with Ana she showed me pics of how other brides used the paper lanterns on the terrace. They were hung from the wooden beams. They looked really pretty. Tropic Lover can you post a pic of the DIY boarding passes for your save the dates. I want to try to cut corners with as much as possible. AnaS, when Ana gets back to me with prices I will certainly let you know. If it too expensive, I plan on just going to Walmart and getting it myself. Great idea! Thank god for Walmart. I wonder if you can preorder the vases from Walmart and just pick them up. When I was at the resort, my fiancee and I made friends with two of the girls from the sales office. I might reach out to them and ask them for help since they live in the area and know vendors. I will let you guys know what they recommend. We just booked our wedding photographer. It was hard, since they all seem amazing! but we ultimately ended up going with Juan Navarro. I am sooooooooo excited! and can hardly wait for July! I am sure you girls feel the same! Sandy
  5. Hi guys, I havent been on here in a while. I am loving all of the centerpiece ideas! I emailed Ana pictures of the centerpieces that I wanted and she told me she would get back to me with prices but I havent heard from her in awhile about it. I am hoping they will not be expensive either or I am thinking about doing it myself. Here is a pic of what they will look They will have yellow rainbow orchids inside instead because my wedding color is yellow. Instead of the rocks at the bottom I am putting sand instead. Let me know what you guys end up doing. I also dont know if ana sets them up or if the florist sets them up. Sandy
  6. Hi Tropic Lover! Wow, that thread you sent me was amazing!!! So cool. Did you use the company for invites? Brian and I have not decided but we actually might go with a photographer from Vancouver! His name is Rick Collins. His work is amazing. He was referred to us from a teacher I work with who got married in Mexico a couple of years ago. I remember seeing her pics when she got back and being blown away!!! My beau is coming home tonight so we will discuss it this weekend.
  7. I dont think it's at all weird. We plan on getting there a couple days before our guests. I want to put them together before guests arrive. I also don't think it's lame that your excited bout putting them together either. I am so excited bout all the little detail stuff to do. I am a kindergarten teacher so I love all those little creative projects that make things special. :-) btw, I wanted to tell you that we are putting out maracas at the ceremony for our guests to shake at the first kiss! Isn't that the cutest?
  8. Thanks Ivan for the advice. The wedding coordinator at the hotel said if you bring your photographer as a guest there is no fee, that is why I looked into that option. Some photographers in our area especially are up and coming and are usually looking to build up their portfolio and would be open to the option buti do understand your point of view. All in all, we have decided to go with a Cancun based photographer. They know the area and know the routines of destination weddings best. We don't know which one yet. Waiting for my fiancee to get back from a trip to decide. Very excited. Both of our options look extremely professional and amazing. :-)
  9. I just got a package pr ice from sascha and his prices look fairly reasonable. Thanks also for the Juan Navarro lead. He looks great as well. . Waiting to hear back from him. Aim also looking into just bringing a photographer from the states and bringing him ir her as a guest. Do you think it would be reasonable to bring them for a 4 night 5 day vacay with us and maybe they wouldn't charge us? My fiancee and I have free rooms at the resort because we are h10 members and so essentially it would cost us nothing to hire a photographer and bring them with us. We would just be giving up oneofour free rooms to them instead of a family member though. Agh, so much to think about.
  10. Thanks! My maid of honors dress is a soft butter-y yellow. I couldn't find that color scheme on the site though. Lol. I just went with that theme. Our theme is island chic. Lots of yellow, pink and orange. Our flower arrangement is yellow rainbow orchids in those tall vases filled with water and a floating candle at the top. I sent the pic to Ana and am waiting to hear back to see if they can do it. Thanks for the advice about picking it up myself if they can't do it. They are fairly simple to make. I have thought bout the welcome baskets, I think we are going to fill it with mini size lotions, SPF, bug spray, aloe Vera etc. We are also going to put this really cute door knob hanger that you can download from Martha Stewar.com. They are designed so that your guests can hang them on their hotel room door and they know you can find them. We are also printing out our guests room numbers so everyone knows where to find each other. Hotel info and restaurant info and excursion brochures will also be in there. I also want to write each guest a personalized thank you note to be put in their room when they arrive. I will be hitting up the dollar stores of course. Lol.
  11. Btw, I forgot to send you the link to my website! It is www.weddingwire.com/szeluga It is not finished. Just need to spell check and wrap up some loose ends. I just viewed yours. It looks great!!!!!
  12. I heard sascha Gluck is amazing too! Is he reasonably priced if you don't mind me asking. Btw, I read in some earlier posts that you can talk Ana down to 200 for the outside photographer!!! Always worth asking. Thank you for all of the advice. I think it is awesome that we can connect on here and help each other out. As far asthepatron bottles, I'm sold but it will take more convincing with my beau lol. I love the spice favor! I've seen some labels on them where you can say "keeping it spicy!" iwill email you the link. What is your email again? Lol.
  13. Btw, thank you for the weddingwire website advice. Our website is up and running. It was soooooo easy. . Even for a non tech friendly girl like me. Lol.
  14. Btw, thank you for the weddingwire website advice. Our website is up and running. It was soooooo easy. . Even for a non tech friendly girl like me. Lol.
  15. What are you doing for favors? We were thinking of doing mini silver patron bottles but my guy thinks it might be inappropriate for some guests. I dont know. I kind of like it. Let me know what you guys are thinking. Also, do you know if Ana will show you what things will look like before the big day? I am nervous, that the wrong flowers will be displayed or the wrong table color and then I won't be able to change it. I think I might be acting crazy. Am I the only when thinking this? Lol
  16. Are you using an outside photographer? If so, how was the resort about it? Also, I am getting nervous bowt the flower arrangements? They seem awfully expensive. Can I go with an outside florist?
  17. Hi guys, Thank you for all the helpful advice on prices and outside vendors. I am thinking of going with anoutsidephotographer. Has anyone gone with Elizabeth Medina? She looks amazing! Sandy
  18. Thanks for the contact with the make up artist! He looks amazing. Tell me about the prices if you end up going with him.
  19. Here's an idea. Friend me on Facebook and look under my album named Mexico 2011. I just imported the entire lot of pics. My name is Sandy Borie. Otherwise it will take a long time to send you all pics thru email. did you send out invites already? You said you had a website up and running. I am so not technology friendly and am thinking of creating a Facebook page for our wedding. If you don't want to share the restaurant then do the terrace. It is closed off to guests. I mean people can still look thru the lobby but who cares right? They are going to be smiling away about your fabulous wedding! You will be soooooo incredibly happy that you won't care.
  20. Hi Tropic Lover! Yay! So happy we are only a two months apart fromthebig day! I have tons of pictures and will send you pics. I just need your email. we really enjoyed the SEnsai restaurant but wouldn't recommend it to host your reception. villa marina was a bit fancier and right next to the beach.. Very romantic. They serve surf and turf. We saw a wedding party there one of the nights we were there. Are you planning on having reception at the pool area next to le crepe restaurant? Ana said they only do that for really big parties because it would mean that they would have to close it off to guests for the night. We are having our reception on the terrace. It was not bad windy when we were there at night. It was just right in July but ask Ana about May wind. I do recommend that you hold your wedding ceremony on the ocean coral side. It is a lot more private and will avoid the chance of random beach goers watching your ceremony. It is roped off. We are having our ceremony there followed by our cocktail hour on the beach just steps away. Feel free to ask me anything else. Remember, we are in this together. Also, one more thing. . . They do not let you have your reception at their nicest restaurant called Fusion, this is because it is exclusive to H10 members and once again this would mean that they would have to close it off for guests but if you are a h10 member, I would recommend it for a rehearsal dinner. Hope this helps.
  21. Getting married on July 13,2012 at Ocean Coral!!!! We just got engaged six days ago at the resort on the beach. The resort was absolutely beautiful and Ana was so incredibly accommodating. I am so happy we have a forum to help each other on this journey. :-)
  22. We just booked for July of 2012! so extremely excited! We just got engaged on the beach at the resort and are excitedtobetraveling down with our friends and family for the wedding exactly oneyearlater. Can anyone email me pics of their wedding at the resort? And point me in the right directions as far as the extras? I know they charge you more to go with your own photographer but am weary of going with whatever the resort gives you. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!
