  1. Tru.... I wish i had an excuse to wear my princess prom gown again. lol
  2. did you have it in the OOT bag? I am not sure if the passport booklet thing should go out before the trip or what
  3. So you are not doing an AHR it will be at the resort? I was also confused about favor per person vs. per couple. Decided what your going to do? I really wanted to do something original as well. The more i think about it the more i dont want to do the seating pic frame. I was thinking i might do beach theamed wine stoppers for AHR. My FI says that is gay for guys so.....gender specific favors?
  4. Thanks JayKay I have so many ppl that don't understand why i would have both dads walk me down the aisle. Someppl just think it will be awkward. My dad is totally cool with it and my stepdad cried when i asked him.
  5. Thanks for the link. Those cookies are so cute and look delicious
  6. I kinda thought if the TV was shoved off in the corner when ppl got bored (its a 6 hr reception with a flimsy timeline cuz we dont like rules or want ppl to tell us what to do) they could watch it. If they get distracted in the middle it will be looped so they can go watch again. ........opinions?
  7. PurpleUnicorn thanks for your response. It's getting close to your AHR. Are you ready? Excited? I am getting married in Ocho Rios "The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa" on 11/11/11 (I'm wierd with numbers). We were there in February. Brian said he wanted to go back before the end of the year, but we were not engaged then. Its nice that we are going to a familiar place and staying in the same room as last time (which was amazing). I feel as though it will help calm our nerves. It seems as though we can all look back and think I should have done that or not done that. But at this point it seems like you are really happy you didnt wait to get married. Stinks the bon fire wasn't on the beach. So you had to make those choices before you got there? Thats good advice to take their package and tailor it to your needs. I hope they are flexible. I can't wait to get down there and start planning b/c it is really hard to understand the WC over the phone. I talked about those water bottles and i dont know if its a good idea. someone said get labels and have the hotel get the bottles. I really dont want to have to worry about labeling water bottles when I get to paradise ya know. I am an impulse shopper and i am really worried that i am going to overspend on OOT bags. As far as the jewelry and shoes ect. do you wear any of it now. I think it would be cool to say "i was going to wear this in my wedding". So sry to call u out, but WHY would you wait til the night before to write your vows(which is totally something i would do BTW) New q's: Did you send out actual wedding invitiations for those going DW. Then on top of it send out invites for AHR? How did you get your invitations?
  8. OK so yes i am a terrible speller and spelled vows wrong. I am sure any communications major/ editor could tear my posts apart. lol JayKay when you were wrote your vows did you guys do it together. I feel like i don't want FI to know but we live and work together so he would prob see it somewhere.
  9. I just started think about this so i'm super excited i found this thread. I really don't want to fo traditional but i dont know if a song that had lyrics is appropriate either. I might go classical. hhhhmmmmmmmmm?
  10. This song is perfect! Jason Mraz is totally appropraite and appeals to more than one age group IMO. good call!
  11. This one is really hard for me. I told Brian he is in charge of music. Sometimes we get really into it and just sit and DJ all night. We have been keeping a list of songs that we would like to hear but not one of them has popped as "our song".
  12. Thanks! I know it will make planning a lot less stressful and way more fun.
  13. Oh thanks! My mum actaully found the Caves. It just bums me out that thier rum bar will be closed the whole time we are staying. Bummer. I'm sure I'll get over it. Details are why I wanted the DW. I figured it would be a great thing for them to say here are your three choices pick one. Ahhhhh i wish I could get that for the AHR!
  14. Just thought I would start a fresh thread hoping to hear from those that have already wed in Jamaica or those that are almost done planning. Would you have done anything differently? What do you think in the end you wasted money on? Did you have an AHR? Did you like ceremonial wording? Did you write your own vowels? Those are all i can think of right now, but I am sure I'll come up with more!
  15. Hey there. Just thought I would introduce myself and get a fresh thread started. I am newly obsessed with this website and all the wonderful ppl on here that love to share their great ideas. My FI and I will be taking 11 of our friends and family members to Ocho Rios 11/11/11 to do the damn thing! We stayed at "The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa" in February and loved it so much. When Brian said he wanted to go back before the end of the year I didn't know it would be to get married. I thought since we will both be nervous that a familiar place might help to calm us down. We are even requesting the same room. I have never wanted a summer to be over so bad in my life! Brian is the best thing that could have ever happened to me. After the ceremony all guests will head home and we will drive across Jamaica to "The Caves" in Negril for our honeymoon. Feel free to tell your story, share advice, or ask away.... Should any veterans have stumbled across this please share some of your expeiences and mostly what you would have done differently.
  16. Oh God knowing my fam I will b spending way too much on alcohol. But thats why we chose a AHR venue that is BYOB. That way at least we know we are not being charged $60 for a bottle of Captain. I looked into this really awesome venue here in Pittburgh called The Church Brewworks. It was $30k just to rent the space!
  17. The mad libs are such an awesome idea. Thanks for sharing!
  18. My FI has the projector and laptop and such so i was going to have the slideshow go on all night. Do you think the wedding video should play that way? I was thinking about bringing a TV DVD player and having the video run the whole time too. Overkill?
  19. purple unicorn maybe we can just start our own thread so it can be public and others can comment. I'll just call it Jamaican weddings or something. I still need to get to 150 posts so i can get that damn things to do list i need so badly lol.
  20. wow! that is such an awesome price for those fans. Thanks for sharing!
  21. I love the slippers idea. I can never have enough water when i am in the sun, but the only thing about that is the extra weight. Think it would make that big of a difference? What are the sand dollar cookies?
  22. Thanks for your responses ladies. I am actually having both my dads walk me down the aisle in Jamaica. I havent decided if it should be half way or both the whole way. I don't think i will decide until we know how wide it will be. I guess i will do whatever seems less awkward. What do you think? As far as recognizing those that have passed, my FI and I discussed having a table with candles, flowers and pictures. However, that was for the AHR. Do you guys think we should do something along the same lines for DW? On the DJ questionaire it asks names of parents and all that for him to announce. I feel like I shouldn't have MOB or FOB announced. Would/should they recognize his deceased parents?
  23. I get my ring cleaned every time I am near the jeweler but it's nice to know the at home methods. I don't know if I would have thought to have it cleaned before the wedding. Guess that's another thing i have to plan for between Jamaica and the AHR.
