I am looking to book a photographer for Jamaica 11/11/11. Most are booked already. Roan Robinson has the date available but i was wondering if anyone on this site has already used him. Were you comfortable with him? How long did it take to get your pics? Were there hidden fees? Does anyone have pics to share? Thanks, Casey

Reception Timeline?
meBonidie2be replied to ssleenyc's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
However you decide to do it, I would make a change somewhere. It def seems like things are getting crammed together. I would puch the reception time back. What happens if you are running late for the ceremony? You will never be able to relax! Good Luck and Congrats! -
i really like the idea of puttin pics on the tables.....I dont know if i will have my pics done by then with only three days between the time we get home and the AHR. All of u out there planning still.....dont do this to yourself!

I did post card style invites (postcards.com) for AHR to go with the theme of DW. AHR will b three days after we get back so i had to send invites out before hand. FRONT: Casey and Brian Join the celebration November 19,2011 BACK: "Upon return from a caribbean ceremony the newlyweds would cherish a night of celebration with their family members and closest friends" "The reception will commence Saturday the Nineteenth of November at six o'clock" Then where you would normally put the address of the person u r sending post card to I listed the Venue name and address. I added RSVP info, "adults only please" as well as "semi to formal attire" I posted this because I had a really hard time coming up with mine and i hope this post helps a noob. I will post a pic soon, they should be coming in the mail this week. BTW I ordered personalized stamps that say Jamaica and the day we will be married. I also ordered sand colored envelopes (envelopemall.com) that came in today and i LOOOOVE them Happy planning!

I would suggest still having a professional DJ depending on how formal your gig will b. He shouldnt have to worry bout that stuff on ur special day. If it works for you gys that is awesome. I would not want to share my husband with a dj booth on that day ya know

So I just started looking for a photographer for our AHR. The problem is I dont really know how to shop around. I tried looking though old threads for my answer but that is the problem...they're old news. In the other threads they talk about how things are changing with digital photography. Therefore, I need current advice. I am looking for a list of questions to ask all the potential photographers we are meeting in the near future. Any advice BDW members could provide would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance!

Depending on how many ppl you have you shouldn't need one. My FI and i booked ourselves as well as 11 other ppl ourselves over internet. It's so easy.

the little girls dresses are for AHR. we are staying at an AI all adult resort. The Jewel Dunn's river beach resort and spa. My FI found it when we were looking to go on vaca back in January. I live by lists. The problem is latelt i have been working on all these to do lists instead of just doing it. lol I have always been that way. I procrastinate by organizing and making lists. I have an apt with a new dress shop today so hopefully i can get this all worked out. We have our first tasting with the caterer for AHR today too....Yeah....progress!

I really wish i would not have asked our nieces to be flower girls (six of them ages 2-12). It has been a fiasco. Cant get anyone to agree on anything. So i guess words of encouragment are all i really need for that. on a dif note.....I really wanted to be able to get those Jamaican Guides. I dont think U.S. brides can get them. Do you knw anything about them? I still need to decide on cermonial wording and need to write my vows. I cant believe how difficult all this has been. I wish we would have given ourselves more time!

All things Jamiacan

So just a little update.... I decided to skip invites for those coming to Jamaica because we asked them personally and already had everything booked. I am working on OOT bags and it's alot of fun. I still need bags themselves and havent been able to fing the ones we want. I am looking for a canvas type bag that can be worn like a bookbag. My FI and i always carry them around. IMO they are alot more user friendly than tote bags. ANY CLUE WHERE I CAN GET THESE? I ordered my invitaions for AHR post card style with a jamaican stamp in top corner on the back. I used a really cool picture from the resort where we are getting married as the background. The venue address is on the lines where the person's address who is receiving the postcard would usually be. I can't wait to see them. They were super affordable and fun to design. www.postcards.com. They have a sister website www.luauinvitaions.com (where my sis is getting the shower invites from) that offers envelopes on their site. I have to order envelopes seperate for AHR invites. Then my sis will do her beautiful caligraphy to send them out. Love her! I'll let you know how the quality and everything is when i receive them. They always answer the phone right away and are really nice ppl. Oh BTW we are just having ppl RSVP by call/text or facebook. Most ppl hate this idea but it works for us. -
Glad we could help you make a decision....Now on to next, right? lol

I agree with the less going on the less headaches. I decided to try to get our nieces involved in the AHR and it has become my latest reason for my love of wine. Trying to get six different girls and their mothers to agree on a dress is torture. If i had this to do over again....I would skip it

Hi there. Congrats! Don't stress. I have moved around my whole life and always knew i would have a hard time coming up with a bridal party. Beyond that I was the MOH in my best friends wedding and my sisters. They are both coming to Jamiaca with us so I had a really hard time designating one of them. Therefore, we chose to skip titles. All the people that will be there with us know they are there beacuse they are really special ppl in our lives. I wouldnt pick someone just because you feel like you have to. As far as the she wants to get married situation....I am dealing with a very similar situation. My FI brother's GF wants to get married and she is soooooo jealous (They will be in Jamaica too) I simply over look it. Yes it took a minute for me to feel this way, but you are not part of thier relationship. Dont let anything ruin your day or bring you down. If she says any snide remarks....i choose to pretend i heard nothing Don't let her get the little jabs in. Good luck with everything! casey

My FI and I visited The Jewel Feb of this year. When he proposed in May we decided on Dw that night and had 10 ppl booked at the Jewel within a week. We are getting married there 11/11/11. I cant say anything about the other place but our room at the Jewel was sooooo nice. We had two bathrooms. Two ocean view balconies. A really nice mini bar in our room. The surrounding area was really safe. We left every day. The food wasn't fantastic but oh well. The fact that it is AI is awesome for a wedding. That way ur guests know what they are spending for the most part. We had a fantastic time. Happy planning.....

Unique Ceremonies
meBonidie2be replied to Christine's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I am so glad i stumbled across this thread. I get so teary everytime i have to think about the actual ceremony. I know i am am going to be crying like a kid in a theme park that is too short to get on the ride they just waited an hour for. I am going to pass on the sand ceremony for a cpl reasons 1- is has been done and done and done 2- i dont think it will look good when we get home 3- i beleive there are better symbolic ceremonies (when i think about the sand i dont get the teary reaction) Hand Ceremony I am highly considering this. I want to have my FI read all my research on cermonies and see what appeals to him. Does anyone have different scripts for the Hand ceremony? Stone ceremony- Every room in our house is decorated with items we found on the beach. We spent a great deal of time this summer getting giant rocks with our tow truck to landscape the yard. THIS IS PERFECT for us. I cant wait to do this part. The only thing i dont like is throwing the stones. When was casting stones ever good? I really like the idea of collecting all the stones that are filled with love, good wishes and happiness. The stones will travel alot better and will be awesome keepsakes when we get home. I really like the idea of the hand washing. Anyone have a script for that? I wonder if this is done often enough that the resort would have the items needed to do it. -

This is an excellent question. Keep us from looking silly in the moment!
