  1. For the AHR we will have about 225 ppl. I was going to have my dad make me a sandbox to put everyone name in prob attached to a starfish. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND STARFISH OR SAND DOLLARS IN BULK AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE? The cards will say there name and table number. ARE YOU DOING ASSIGNED SEATING OR SIMPLY ASSIGNED TABLE NUMBERS?
  2. I found the most awesome stuff i needed for my OOT bags at Michaels last night! I wanted to do the welcome letter and an invitiation for a welcome cocktail party as a message in a bottle. I found the most perfect glass bottles with a cork stopper for only $1! It must have been meant to be cuz i needed 7 and they only had 7 : ) I wanted to find a way to organize all the "first aid" type stuff. I found plastic bags ($3.99 for 20) (i cant remember what they called them) to contain the tide pens, sanitizer, tums ect.. They had the PERFECT cardstock with starfish beach theme. I plan on using a piece of cardboard inbetween the folded cardstock over and staple to the open end of the plastic bags. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND STARFISH OR SAND DOLLARS IN BULK AT AN AFFORDABLE PRICE. everything i have seen has been WAY too expensive.
  3. Yeah same here. If they are a cpl then they get one bag with things for both ppl in same bag. I may have a room with singles together, but they will get their own bag.
  4. IMO it depends on how formal everything else is. What will you and your guest be wearing? What is the menu like? Paper napkins are not that big of a deal as long as it doesn't seem out of place. Hope this helps Happy planning!
  5. Hey there fellow Jamaican Brides : ) My FI and I will be tying the knot 11/11/11 at The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort and Spa. We chose to skip a reception at the resort b/c we are spending over 15k to have one at home. We are planning to leave the resort with all our guests after our 4:00 ceremony to have some awesome sunset pics over looking the ocean. Sunset is at 5:35 so pics will surely be over by 7 if not before. What are we supposed to do after that? Are the newlyweds supposed to spend the rest of the evening with their guests? (everyone at the DW will also be at AHR) Any suggestions on a nice place to go around Ocho Rios for dinner or drinks? There is also the option to just hang out caually and celebrate at the resort without the reception fees b/c it is AI. Any advice would surely be appreciated!
  6. I think I just changed my mind about our live music choice ; )
  7. Congratulations! Happy planning.....don't stress
  8. Ah great I'm so happy for you. The day was a success! Congratulations. Looking forward to pics : )
  9. I can't wear heels. It just wouldn't look right considering my FI is 31/2 in shorter than me. Can anyone suggest a place to find great flats?
  10. It is coming down to the DETAILS! IYO, Should I have my parents announced at the AHR? Considering there would be no announcements for his family, I feel like it will be all about me and i hate that.
  11. Anyone already married or getting married in OCHO RIOS...... If you chose to have an AHR instead of one at the resort, what did you do after the ceremony? We will take some pics but then be done by 5:30. We were thinking about taking our guests out somewhere, but where? Senior frogs is sooo much fun. It just doesnt seem appropriate for the wedding night. Then again, maybe?
  12. Purple Unicorn, I hope your AHR went fantastically well! Can't wait to hear about the details!
  13. Cheapcarribean.com is a great site. We booked though them the first time, but for the wedding we booked everything directly though the resort and the airline. At this point, i am glad we did because now one person cant go but a dif person wants to come. Changing names on room and flights is much easier when you book direct.
  14. Was this bride someone that Roan led you to?
  15. Alain was very short on FB. Roan took alot more time to answer my q's and all. We still talk everyday. I am so close to sending the deposit. I just wish i could see more of his work and have personal reccomendations from BDW brides that have already used him.
  16. I found the fans you were talking about and i really liked them. I like the detail and everything on them. Brian didn't like the way u had to hold them open. We ended up going with batterypowered $1.50 fans from wal-mart. I don't think they look as nice but hopefully they are functional.
  17. So we have started on OOT bags. I did some of the basics tylenol, tide pen, tums, bath poofs. I put stickers from Michaels on the hand sanitizers that say "spread the love, not the germs". I put stickers on the wedding travel tissues (also from michaels) that say"for happy tears". I got these awesome waterproof bags for cameras, cigs, ect. from stein mart for $5.99 a piece. The candles i found at michaels were only 50 cents a piece and came in a tropical scent! I would like to as you ladies have suggested and simply add a gift to these bags for each person. I have already spent over 100 on 7 OOT bags and i have yet to get the bag, thermal cups and personized gifts. My brain is burnt out lately I dont know what to get each person to make it special. For functionality I am looking for drawstring backbacks. Does anyone know a website that has no minimum orders as well as no print set up fee. I tried to get some nice custom thermal cups and the total came to over $400 for 8 cups. I would love to find a website for thermal cups with no minimum order or print set-up fee. Advice for any noobies: It is really easy to get carried away with OOT bags. Set a budget first. Make a shopping list and carry it with you at all times. Consider that all the items you give your guests need to A) be used at the resort or be able to fit in their suitcase on the way home.
  18. I am so glad i found this thread. It will be a giant help! I can't decide if i like the flip flops or not. My problem is we don't even know where we are having the actual ceremony at the resort. You don't decide until you get there. It seems the attire would change if its on the beach or one of their other beautiful locations.
  19. These are so adorable. I wish I would have found those cards BEFORE i asked my FG and JB!
  20. So I have quite a few ppl that don't get along coming to the AHR. We will have between 175 and 225 ppl. Is there usually a way the room is supposed to be sat. His family on one side my fam on the other? I don't even know where to begin!
  21. Me too! I had never heard of them before. Those pics would be so awesome to look back on!
  22. Alain Hottat is also available....PLEASE, help me choose!
