  1. I wouldn't know where to start looking or advising him where to look. Groomsmen will be wearing white button downs and khaki pants (shouldn't be hard for them to find on their own?) but what about the groom himself? I want to go for this look without the tie: And any recommendations for footwear?

Outside vendor services (photography, florists, decor companies, audio visual companies, entertainers, etc) are not permitted on permises. we will provide our couples with a variety of in-house services to choose from. A penalty fee of $388 USD will be charged per vendor per event to the couple´s Wedding bill. Palace Resorts will not be claimed responsible for any such required services I wonder what this means... like .. if we DO hire an outside vendor, that's the fee we will pay?
  3. Will be wearing my Christian Louboutin Pigalle Plato in Nude Mini-Glitter =) No idea what dress I will have yet LOL
  4. The best advice I was ever given that saved me a lot of grief was "Don't post anything wedding related on Facebook." Nothing. Period. When people ask, just say you're in the planning process or that you'll keep them posted. I understand the excitement, but keeping everything on the down low will help with snarky comments.
  5. My amazing TA just hooked me up with Janina Mendoza. I'm hoping things go well and will be writing a lengthy review when this is all over as well. *fingers crossed!*
  6. We're thinking of doing a TTD at a cenote while we're in Cancun, do you need a permit? Where can we get one? We'll be staying at Moon Palace, where are some nearby cenotes?
  7. Now that I'm thinking about it we will likely tip our WC (depending on how much she/he seems to have together), live music, drivers and maids/wait staff. Depending on service, I may write a referral/recommendation letter for my photographer and travel agent. Unless the officiant is Neil Patrick Harris himself, I don't see a reason to tip for being there $20 and reading a script. I also think that if I were working, any tip greater than $20 is already pretty generous. You know how much stuff I can get with $20!? XD Thinking out approximate breakdown will be WC - $50 Live Music: $20/person
  8. I'm in Ontario. So from reading this forum, we can print out the marriage app online, fill it out, sign and take it to City Hall. Can we do the civil ceremony the same day? Do I have to find someone to marry us? How/where? Does Ontario require witnesses? What's the procedure there? FH mentioned that we could do it before and they can "post date" the certificate to the date of our ceremony in Cancun... is this true or is the date on the cert going to be the date we did our civil ceremony?
  9. We are staying at Moon Palace and will be heading to Le Blanc for the honeymoon, but I hear that Beach Palace has a nice beach area (less seaweed) than Moon Palace. Is a day trip in order? =)
  10. Hey there, I am Asian, FI is Caucasian. I discussed this tradition with my mother (since it would've been for her) and she told me to skip it. I think you should ask your parents what they think. My mother is not very traditional and said something along the lines of "I don't want you to kneel to me" and "it is unnecessary". We will be incorporating SOME asian touches to the wedding, possibly having a chinese banquet style engagement dinner at home, but we are foregoing most of the traditional rituals for the wedding.
  11. There seem to be a lot of Canadian brides here. On the Service Ontario website it says: "A marriage licence is valid only in Ontario for three months from the date of issue. If the marriage licence is not used in a wedding ceremony within this time period, it expires." So what if I plan on doing a symbolic ceremony in Cancun and get married when we return? Can we apply and register on the same date?
  12. Thank you, ladies~ If we can call ahead before we go, that might be our best bet. As for the dinner reservation for 35, anyone know if we'd be allowed to bring a projector or something for a slideshow? And are you ladies planning to wear a "reception dress" to the dinner?
  13. Anyone know if we are allowed to just show up to restaurants with 20 or so people? My family is pretty clingy and I'm sure they'll want to have a few meals with us... I know we get one free reservation (we want to use that for the reception) but what about other meals/days?
  14. This is a great question. I'm also planning a wedding at Moon Palace in 2012. I'm assuming if I use the "dinner reservation for up to 35 guests" that comes with the wedding package means I won't get to play a slideshow or anything like that or hire entertainment. I don't know if I will get to choose the restaurant and I'm also assuming that the restaurants already have their own music playing?
  15. I've been seeing a lot of people bouncing this idea around. What are the advantages and disadvantages of getting married here in Ontario, Canada vs in Cancun, Mexico? And for those of you who decided to get legally married here, did you do it before or after? Why? I heard people doing it before but others choose after because of some issue with passports etc.
  16. If so, when will you play it? During the reception? What if you're just using a dinner reservation? Where could you put the slideshow then?
  17. How are some of you holding your "cocktail hour" in the lobbies of your hotel? Are you just showing up in the lobby with booze?
  18. I've had really bad experiences when I have traveled when it comes to racism. Happened in Europe and southern US. Some are subconscious and people don't know they're doing it (eg. Greeting me with "Konichiwa" or telling me where the local Chinese buffet is) to blatant physical interactions (eg. People deliberately walking into me and staring me down). My DFH is also Caucasian. We've been together 10 years and grew up together (same culture, values etc). Our families are quite different yet we are ALWAYS perceived as the "yellow fever" couple. In turn, we get the same treatment. I've never been to Cancun or even Mexico before. For those of you ladies who have traveled here, how were you received when you were there? Was service any better/worse than you anticipated? I've looked at some links of local Cancun photographers and a lot of the photos they chose to display in their portfolios are quite ... well "monochromatic". I am thinking of bringing my own photographer who is also based out of Toronto and whose portfolio reflects a diverse client base. Racism is everywhere, I'm just hoping it won't be as bad as my past experiences. Thanks in advance!
  19. So you can't take wedding photos there or just not photos AT ALL?
  20. We're thinking of having our wedding mid week (on a Wednesday). MP policy says we have to be there 3 business days prior before 12 noon. (which means Saturday)... I'm worried about trying to grab a flight to get there before noon direct from Toronto to Cancun. =( Are we going to have to fly out Friday night and spend the night at the airport?
