  1. One of my closest friends is a stylist for make up and hair. She recommended Sebastian for me (and she uses it herself) and I LOVE it! It ha GREAT hold without being sticky, stiff or smelly!! You can get it at your local Trade Secrets (for ladies in Canada).
  2. I designed our monogram. I know typically most couples have their last name as the middle initial, however, I took a page from David and Victoria Beckham's logo and opted to do a symmetric design. David & Yvonne B. ~
  3. ^ Thank you! Darn search function! I thought it was weird that I couldn't find a thread already made for it!
  4. Bookmarked! We are also doing an intercultural destination wedding at Moon Palace! Your planning guide has been invaluable!! Thank you!
  5. Whether you designed it yourself or had it made, show us your wedding monograms!! I designed our monogram. I know typically most couples have their last name as the middle initial, however, I took a page from David and Victoria Beckham's logo and opted to do a symmetric design. David & Yvonne B. ~
  6. My guests will be paying under $2k for sure for a 4 night's stay (all inclusive) and including airfare.
  7. I love this dress but I'd have to try it on in salons before I'd commit!! *bookmark*
  8. From a WC, I would expect fast communication, answers, for him/her to do the leg work (via calls, emails etc) in a timely manner, organization and speaking with enthusiasm. I know it's not a deal breaker, but everytime I open my email to see someone talking with !! like they are excited about MY wedding, I am put at ease. =) If you are NOT LOVING your WC, I'd request another. Key people play important roles in the planning of your wedding, if they are not as efficient as you'd like them to be I would find someone else immediately/
  9. They look beautiful! For the sleeve, if you've designed a monogram, maybe have it stamped or printed in the bottom right hand corner instead of just "now boarding" in script across the middle? =) Just an idea! I can't wait to see your finished product!
  10. I think this is a good idea, however, tread carefully! You want to be tasteful and respectful of the culture and not just incorporate superficial and stereotypical accents to your wedding!
  11. I'm struggling with this issue as well. I'm thinking of checking out authentic chinese malls or even Chinatown for these. Will talk to my mother about some intel and if I find some on the cheap, I will let you brides know!!
  12. If we were not having kids in the wedding party, we would be married at Le Blanc Resort & Spa~
  13. Thank you for this article!! I know I've chosen the right location for us, but had I seen this earlier it would've helped my decision tremendously!!
  14. I also went with all-inclusive for the cost efficiency because I knew people would complain. We sent out are STD a month ago (about 10 months before the date). Our invites will be going out early as well (around January). Our wedding is in June~
  15. Thank you!! Our engagement shots are scheduled for late Sept in Toronto. I really hope the weather isn't freezing by then. =(
  16. These are some of the reasons WHY we chose a destination wedding. It weeds out a flakes. Obviously if someone can't afford it, I won't hold it against them. I put all the snarky comments aside and just smile because that means that person wont be there to ruin the day in the end. Good riddens!
  17. We will be marrying at the Moon Palace and then switching to another resort from their chain but has a rep of being higher quality than the rest (Le Blanc) for the honeymoon.
  18. Mine is civil. I was told that regardless of civil/symbolic we have to be there before noon on the Saturday. =(
  19. We went through the same thing. Basically we have to leave at like 6AM to catch our flight and we're getting there JUST under the wire (at like 11:30ish). I'll probably have to jump into a cab to get to the resort before hand while FI grabs our luggage. FRUSTRATING!
  20. I'm in a similar boat but FI and I will be sticking to our guns. Even if NO ONE shows up, it's happening. WE'LL be there. WE'LL enjoy the trip. And WE'LL have an amazing time. Come hell or high water, this wedding is happening. I don't care if someone dies the day before. It's happening.
  21. It's not a coincidence, the animated versions have been recolored in photoshop. =)

A lot of people do ask why they aren't coming, and the answer we give is just that they don't support us so there's no reason for them to come. Several people have said, well you will never be able to make things right with them in the future if you don't even invite them. Honestly, before we started planning the wedding I told my fiance I could never have anything to do with his family and any children we had together would not be allowed any contact with them until they were 18 and could decide for themselves, and he completely agreed with me. I didn't say he couldn't talk to them, just that they couldn't be active in our lives or know anything about me or our children. I feel like unless something has happened to you where you can't have people like this in your life anymore you can't understand.... so sick of the, well they're family! comments... thanks for this thread and for letting me vent! Twelve days and counting! My father and his entire side of the family will not be invited or welcome.
