  1. It is seasonal. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150268401625942.335236.93955695941
  2. Ours also said no outside vendors allowed. But we are flying in our photographers who will also be our guests at the wedding so there is no conflict.
  3. Does anyone have photos of both Tucan Beach and Capilla Beach up the aisle? I don't want to look at the ceremony set-up, but I'm curious as to where the bride would "ride in on the carriage" and walk down? I know one of the beach areas has a set of stairs ... is that Capilla?
  4. We were thinking Le Chateau but when I brought my FI in, they had recalled the linen suits that were on sale?! Weird. I think we'll stick to studiosuits.com. They've got several good reviews from here, seem more affordable and more customizable.
  5. I don't think system for ceremony is necessary (I think its included.) I don't think you can use the resort credits for reception or cocktail. I'm kind of sad we can use it on wedding items (we chose complementary).
  6. Lucy replied (she's very fast despite my wedding being next June!) The fire show dancers are $850.00 per hour. The resort credit can be used either for upgrading your collection, or for spa, golf, tours but not for both.
  7. Not sure if this will help any, but here are some of my Lucy's answers (she was fairly quick with answering emails): My comments are in red 1) Can we give the officiant a different script for the vows or choose non-religious vows (we have guests with many different religions and would like to keep it secular)? This can be done after the civil ceremony is done, as the officiant is very strict and sticks with the procedure 2) Can we give sheet music for the classical duet to play? Preferably send it prior, as I need to check with them if they have the songs or if they can practice them 3) What instruments can we choose for the classical duet? Information for entertainment is attached. * This was not actually attached so I'm still waiting for her to answer 4) How much for the Mexican Trio for the cocktail? It is also on the attached list * I've typed them all up below 5) When we arrive, do we meet the wedding coordinator or the same day? If not, Which day? We will plan your wedding and a month prior to your wedding, we’ll make sure to pass all information to the Wedding Coordinator on site, that way, you have 30 days to finalize anything, during that time, you can set up an appointment to meet with her upon arrival at the resort. 6) What is a difference between Capilla Beach and Tuncan Beach? (We want a beach wedding) The capilla is a chapel, and the Tucan Beach is an area on the Beach. 7) How long is the aisle runner and what is it made of? It is about 9-10 feet and it is made of burlap 8) Our wedding is ta 5pm, can we start cocktail at 6pm? No problem 9) Can we make reservation for the dinner? How much is an additional reservation for a welcome dinner? You already have a dinner reservation up to 35 in any of our restaurants included in the package. If you want an additional dinner, it would have to be a private event 10) How much are umbrellas for the cocktail hour and how big are they? I am sorry; you mean big umbrellas, or the ones that you put in the cocktails for decoration? * I specified the big umbrella, still awaiting answer 12) How often do shuttles run between Moon Palace and the other Palace Resorts? The only one goes to our resorts in hotel zone and it has a set schedule. 9. Are they not letting you use the resort dollars for items for the wedding? (Ie. Carriage etc)
  10. I got Lucy Ramirez. After reading your answers, I am kind of upset that she said you want use the resort credits for wedding items!! I kind of planned my whole wedding around that!!! =/
  11. If you're not superstitious or your family members are not superstitious, just disregard this. I was considering using parasols for my bridal party and brought it up to the family. I, personally, am NOT superstitious, but I have family members who are. Apparently parasols can harbour "ghosts", so many Chinese people do not take umbrellas or parasols with them when traveling. It's symbolic of bad luck, especially if the parasols are white. Just a heads up, ladies.
  12. I'm not sure, I don't really shop for pashminas myself so I don't have anything to compare it to. I'd say it is pretty soft, anything warmer would be a scarf? I checked a few in the greater Toronto area and they have them in.
  13. Thanks for the thoughtful accounts of your experiences. I appreciate hearing your perspective as a Canadian living locally in Cancun. I am hoping to never have to experience the blatant displays of racism I have in the past again (which has left a sour taste). I am looking at this wedding/honeymoon, hopeful that it will be a positive one. ~
  14. Sun Palace? I heard good things about the beach at Sun Palace, but I did hear the same things about this non-existent beach at Beach Palace.
  15. Thanks for the review! All this time I'm thinking Beach Palace has the best beach out of all the Palace Resorts... there is NO BEACH?!! =/ I have to do more research!!
  16. Definitely a good idea!! Don't forget misc categories like entertainment and insurance!!
  17. Popped by Canadian Ardenes today. In the back, they're selling pashminas 3 for $10. Not an AMAZING deal, but for those still looking, it's there!
  18. Racism can be subconscious. While someone my think they are being helpful, their words and actions can express and reveal embedded beliefs. That said, everyone has their prejudices, we just have to know when we are doing it. Having prejudice doesn't mean someone is "not good", it is just a result of what they were taught. As "minorities" it is common for many to simply accept it, look past it, or not notice it (as in your case). I'm sorry you feel that my post was "whiny and not super nice", though I believe it is a legitimate concern I've had through many personal experiences. I have studied social justice for years and know that it is much more comforting to think that we are over-reacting or misinterpreting someone's actions or words than to confront the issues. Racism is an uncomfortable topic, many are put off just by speaking about it so I can see where you are coming from. I always consider someone's good intentions even though it is a stereotype, a racial slur or an omission - but that doesn't mean it doesn't hurt or it is unnoticed. That said, thank you for sharing your experience and I am really happy to hear that it was pleasant. It really does help to put me at ease.
