  1. Hey Ladies, just noticed this thread, my date is May 18, 2012 at Dreams Puerto Aventuras Resort & Spa, Riviera Maya, Mexico! Ok so is anyone else frustrated sitting and waiting for their guests to book!? We have 32 booked, 6 confirmed but not yet booked, and about 10 maybes. I know it is still months away but I need to know how much OOT stuff to buy. I'm just worried that the 10 maybes might try to look for last minute deals or something, not realizing that I need to know my final numbers at least 3 months in advance. Sorry, just needed to vent to people who understand!
  2. Hey, our OOT bags will be per couple as we are having around 45 people and that would be way too much stuff to bring down to Mexico if it was per person. Plus the way I look at it is that most of the items in the bag will be used by the women eg. pashminas, the bags themselves. I know most of my FI friends couldn't care less if they had a welcome bag lol! And I think we only have 1 single guy going, so he's going to get a completely different bag altogether. We will double up on the items that will hopefully be used by everyone such as the Bubba mugs So you would probably be ok to plan for 18-20 bags?
  3. Ok thanks for the info, I will definitely check people's out this weekend! Pretty awesome if I can get 2 rings for the price of one, my FI can't say no to that lol!
  4. Hey Shelly - Have you ever used crest white strips? I have used them a few times, they only take 2 weeks to do and honestly I notice a HUGE difference. I plan to do this before my wedding, and they only cost about $45 compared to the $200-300 it can cost for your dentist to do!
  5. Thanks for the tip Lindsay, I've heard all kinds of wonderful things about the Dollar Tree! However, the place I will be making a cross boarder trip to in Michigan does not have a dollar tree, but you never know what I may find
  6. Love your ring combination! I too am thinking about having a ring on either side of my e-ring, and was thinking about checking out People's. So it was actually $1000 for both, or did you mean $1000 per ring? My budget is about $1800 so if I can can too for that price that would be great! Oh and I'm looking for white gold not platinum, so that will save me some.
  7. Hey Ladies quick question! I am looking for little tube bottles of either Advil or Tylenol. I found them at Dollarama for $2, but I was wondering if anyone found them for cheaper in the states at either Walmart or an American drugstore? I'll be heading across the boarder just before x-mas when I go home to visit my parents, so if I can get them cheaper in the states I will wait, if not I'll just buy them now! Thanks
  8. Hey Ceciliag62! My TA is at Marlin Travel and honestly she has gone above and beyond to find us the best prices! My guests are paying $200 less per person than anything I have seen online, and because we have booked 40+ ppl, my FI and I get our room for free! I did a google search, there are 5 Marlin Travel's in Toronto! If you give them a couple different resorts that you are interested in, then they will contact their head office and establish the group rate. The only thing that was tricky was that to ensure the group rate the guests have to book relatively early. For our May 2012 wedding our guests head to book by the end of October; however, it was only a $300 deposit that they had to put down. Anyways hope this helps!
  9. Good choice on your final design, and what a great deal, can't wait to see a pic when you get them! Cecilia - welcome to the forum! Yes - it is very hard deciding on a resort, I struggled with this for a few weeks before I finally chose. I wanted a nice resort, 4 stars or better, but also one that wouldn't break the bank. But just remember that where ever you choose you're guests are bound to have a good time due to the company and not just the place! Have you contacted a travel agent yet? Because most resorts offer groups deals for any party over 10 people, and you would be surprised the amount that this could per person. So the Majestic Colonial might be within reach. Are you set on getting married on the beach? A lot of the resorts have gazebos and other areas where you can get married and then you wouldn't have to worry about going barefoot. We are getting married in a gazebo and even though I'm 5'8" I'm wearing heels because I want to be tall on my wedding day!!!! But wedges are also a good alternative and you can probably even wear wedges on the beach. I'm assuming that most wedding dresses are going to be hot when getting married in a tropical place, unfortunately it might just have to be the price we pay to look amazing! But you can always request that your ceremony is scheduled for later in the day. We are having ours at 5pm, which works well as the cocktail hour will take place directly afterwards, followed by the reception. Goodluck with your planning! Allie
  10. Looks great, I agree your guests will LOVE these! Thanks for the inspiration, I might do this if I can't get Bubba Mugs
  11. Ok starting to kind of get used to the intensity of month 2 of insanity, but I am counting down the days until I am done!!! I am looking forward to getting back to my old workout routine at the gym. How is everyone else doing!?
  12. An addendum to my previous post..............I am newly disappointed as it seems that the Suarey by Paris Hilton in turquoise is sold out everywhere in my size, or in any size for that matter! Oh well the search continues for the perfect shoe!
  13. Thank you so much for posting these links! I too am looking for turquoise shoes, I have seen the "charmed" one's by Paris Hilton but was worried that they would slide off as they have no back. But the "suarey" Paris Hilton one's have a back and I like them better anyways! Now I just have to find them in my size
  14. Hatfiehm - you look amazing and loosing 30 lbs since September is a huge accomplishment, congrats!
  15. I did a google search and I actually found it online at a website called affordable elegance, thanks though! I'm not 100% sure if I'm gonna go with a headband, but I love it!
  16. Oh sounds great, I can't wait ti see it as I have no idea what I'm going to do for programs! And by the way canadiangirl you are so organized and on the ball, my wedding is a month after yours and I haven't even thought about anything of these things! Just barely got started on my OOT bags
  17. Thottes - where did you get your headpiece if you don't mind me asking, I LOVE it!!! And I have a Mori Lee dress too! And I agree with the ladies that you should go with a simpler bracelet and/or earrings
  18. Thanks zahpeck, you definitely helped me decide on what OOT items I should be getting! Just a couple questions for the brides who are a little further along in the planning process than I am, and also because my WC won't answer my emails! - Do you guys know what the options are for location of the cocktail hour? Is it possible to have it a Barracuda Bar, or would that consist of a rental fee for Barracuda? - Does anyone know if we have the choice of round tables vs. rectangular tables for the reception, as I plan on ordering table runners for round tables. - If we choose to have to reception by the adults only pool, are kids allowed over there for the wedding? - And lastly.............did your WC give you a schedule of when decisions need to be made by. eg. when we have to decide on our dinner menu, flowers.......... Ok so I don't expect you guys to have all the answers, but if anyone can share any of this info I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks
  19. Thanks for the info on that AquaCait. We are also flying Sunwing, so I'll ask my TA if we qualify for the upgrade to elite. I'm already stressed about the extra money we are going to have to pay to bring our stuff down to Mexico. My FI is a huge kitesurfer and Sunwing charges $100 EACH WAY to bring a surfboard!!!!! FI informed me that he won't go if he can't bring his surfboard lol. We are also bringing all our decorations and OOT stuff down, so at least 2 extra suitcases. But whatever I only plan on getting married once!
  20. Wow...........only 2 days into month 2 and I cannot believe how much harder these workouts are. I thought I was well prepared after sailing through month 1 with no problem, but these workouts are so much more intense! I hope that I can stick with it.........but I guess I have come this far ;0
  21. Kat - I love your custom wedding cake topper, where did you get it????? I wanna have one made but some of the prices I've seen so far are crazy! Also thank you so much for posting the info about the wedding paper, I was going to order a bunch of stuff from vista print but this could save me sooooo much money!!! Everything looks amazing and it's so exciting that your wedding is less than a month away!
  22. Hey Manda123, we are bringing down all our own decorations and OOT bag stuff for 45-50 people so we plan on asking our parents to pack some stuff in their luggage. But we realize that we probably are going to end up paying extra and are willing to in order to surprise our quests once in Mexico. The way I look at it is that they are spending x amount to come all the way to Mexico, so us spending $50 (or more) to bring the stuff down there to thank them is worth it. A good thing to do now is to go to your airline's website and check out their baggage policy now so there will be no surprises when you get to the airport
  23. Butterfly - I actually like the palm tree design better, which is weird for me because my monogram design is a starfish. But I just find the palm trees are simple yet elegant, however whatever you decide on will look great on your mugs no doubt!
  24. Yes thank you Peach that totally helps! I have almost 6 months before my wedding, so hopefully they will go on sale within the next few months!
