  1. Hi Mrs. Robinson, I am also doing the Ultimate package. We are not using the photographer either so I asked Jacki if I could subsitute something instead. She said she would give us $100 credit towards something else, but I was kind of hoping for more! So I may actually still use the photographer and have them photograph my guests during the cocktail hour. For decorations I plan to bring down chair sashes and table runners, but I am so stuck as to what I want to do for centrepieces. I plan on having real flowers for all the bouquets and bouts. I thought about using the bridesmaids bouquets in a vase for the centrepieces and bring my own vases. But I don't think I really want to pack vases, so maybe I'll just rent them from Dreams. Oh well, I still have plenty of time to decide.........
  2. Thanks for the heads up! I really wanted to include nail polish wipes, but I have yet to find them for a reasonable price. I also bought my Tide sink packs from Rexall awhile back, and they were the cheapest price by far
  3. Has anyone decided what they are doing for centrepieces? I see that DPA charges $60 and up for a floral arrangement, and I'm not sure if I want to pay that price, but I feel like the tables need something! I was thinking about bringing my own, maybe table lanterns, but it will be troublesome to pack those. Would love to hear what you ladies are planning on doing.
  4. Great review, thank you for taking the time to come back and post it! It is so helpful to hear other brides positive experiences
  5. Wow I can't believe that someone would do that!!! You should totally send a message to a moderator and explain your situation and maybe they will kick the person off of here, because in my opinion they don't deserve to be here! And I hope they read all these posts and feel like a dumb*ss like they are!!!
  6. Very helpful information! I don't think my resort requires me to have a 'long version' of our birth certificates, which is a huge relief as the process seems time consuming!
  7. Thanks to all the lassies who posted about this. I think I am just going to bring my marriage certificate home and have it translated here, as I have heard horror stories about people waiting 6 months or longer to receive it in the mail from Mexico!
  8. Hi kpelecha, wow you must be getting so excited as your date is coming up so soon! We are also doing the ultimate wedding package which provides nice decorations for the wedding gazebo. Have you seen any pics of it with the decorations? As Julie Carson said the FB page for DPA has some great pics of recent weddings at Dreams. We have decided to bring down our own chair sashes, table runners and lanterns as additional decorations. Dreams charges $6 per chair sash, and I have found them online for $1.19 per sash! So even though we may have to pay a bit more to bring down an extra suitcase for the decorations, we will save more in the long run. Good luck with your planning
  9. Awesome pictures Kat you and your husband look so happy, and I looooooooove your dress!!!
  10. Hey Manda123, we are also having all acoustic guitar covers for our ceremony. Check out Jason Mraz's I'm Yours by the Guitar Tribute Players, I love it and it will be my processional song We are also using Somewhere over the rainbow by IZ for the bridesmaids, great choices!
  11. Hi Katie, welcome and congrats on securing your date at Dreams!!! This forum is a great resource. When I first joined I read through this entire forum, it took some time but honestly I found the answer to so many questions I had without having to by my WC. We booked an external photographer. We are using Lincoln Lehmann from Moments that Matter Photography. I was originally just going to go with the resort photographer but after seeing some of the pictures from other brides weddings, I was not very impressed. It definitely an added expense that we originally didn't budget for, but pictures last a lifetime so out of anything I decided it was worth it to splurge! Ourselves and a bunch of our guests are avid divers so we are definitely planning at least 2-3 dives! There is amazing diving in the Mayan Riviera. From what I've read on Trip Advisor it bests to go to one of the local dive shops in Puerto Aventuras (about 5 min walk from DPA), as opposed to the ProDive on site at DPA. Prices are supposed to be much more reasonable. The are is known for cenote dives, which are huge underground caverns, and you don't need to have your advanced certification as they are not considered caves. Also, some of the best reef diving in Mexico is off the coast of Cozumel. Cozumel is about a 20 min ferry ride from Playa del Carmen (which is a 20 min drive from DPA). Most dives shops in the area will either take care of all the transportation, or even bring you out there themselves. But I have heard that it is totally worth it to dive there, so we are planning on it. Feel free to ask away, I definitely did when I first made an appearance on here! Allie
  12. It sounds like I'm in the same boat as everyone else! I did Insanity from October to December and got great results, but since I finished that I haven't done anything so I think I put back on everything that I lost! I'm just under 6 months away so I hope I can get serious again starting now! I plan on renewing my gym membership since it's winter, and working out 5 days per week. I eat way too much sugar so I need to cut that out of my diet.
  13. Thank you to everyone who has posted there list on here, I have definitely found and added many songs to my list! I will post as soon as mine is complete!
  14. Amazing video, you and your husband look sooooooo happy! I LOVE your hair!!! It is exactly the look I am going for. I was wondering if you have any inspiration pictures, or actual wedding day pictures that you wouldn't mind posting?
  15. Thanks for the advice lavenderlux. I have not seen the travel sized ones at my local walmart yet, but maybe they only carry it in the spring/summer, I will definitely keep an eye out for them. I will also check out well.ca, I have never heard of that
  16. Hey Ladies, I have read the reviews on TA too and was a little worried, but for every bad review there are 10 good ones! And I figure that it will be an amazing trip because of the company, and not because of the setting. Also, just think of the reasons you chose to get married at DPA. It has one of the most beautiful wedding gazebos in my opinion, and there are many other great features! Anyways, I'm sure we will all have amazing trips and weddings Oh quick question - is anyone getting legally married at DPA? We are planning on it as my FI is against getting legally married before we head down. I'm just a little worried about getting the marriage certificate, as I have heard some brides say that it can take months to receive it in the mail
  17. Hi Ladies, I am new to Vistaprint and looking for a little advice! I am trying to make business cards for OOT bag items. I have uploaded some pictures through the 'make your own card', and it keeps telling me that the resolution is too low and the picture appears too grainy. The photos I have been uploading appear good quality until they upload to VP. Anyone else have this problem? I'm worried if I order them they will look like sh*t!
  18. Thanks for the email Alison It kind of seems that some of those pictures weren't even taken at DPA! I have no idea what I am going to do for my table settings/decorations...........
  19. Hey Ladies, has anyone found individual packages of bug-repellent wipes in Canada, or are these an American product? I definitely want to include these in my OOT bags as I have heard that mosquitoes can be bad in the Mayan Riviera in May! Thanks and Merry Christmas!
  20. Mrs.Robinson, that's awesome that you now have Jacki too! Alison - I sent you a pm with my email address, can you send me that email that Jacki sent you please? Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
  21. I absolutely LOVE your dress! Very similar shape and style to mine When I went searching for a wedding dress the sales consultant told me that anything goes these days for destination wedding dresses. You should buy whatever you like best and what you feel the most beautiful in regardless of where you are getting married. So I think that you absolutely made the right choice, and I think that it would look amazing done up with turquoise accessories, and I know a lot of girls on here are doing a bright hair flower as well!
  22. Hi Rebecca, Wow that's so exciting!!! What wedding package are you doing? Do you feel ready!? Well you will definitely have to check in with us when you get back and tell us all about it!!!
  23. Hey Redginger, I don't know where you are getting married but keep in mind that most resorts will not allow you to "toss" anything that is not natural for obvious environmental reasons. There have been some brides on here who purchased fakes flower petals and they were not allowed to use them. So whatever you decide on it's probably a good idea to check with your resort first
  24. I love fuchsia! My reception decorations will be damask and turquoise with pops of fuchsia! It has been so much fun looking for things for my centrepieces and so on in these colours.
