  1. Great info - thanks Angi!! I can't tell you how helpful it is to hear from the past EDR brides - thank you SO MUCH for hanging around this thread and sharing!!!
  2. PM headed your way! I'd like the starfish & sand dollars please.
  3. You aren't alone!! As of now, we aren't going to have a bridal party either. I have some of my best girl friends planning to come, but the FI isn't sure about any of his close guy-friends. I didn't want to have to ask anyone to buy a bridesmaid dress or suit or whatever, or offer to pay for one really. So we are planning just the two of us at the altar. I will probably have a couple of my girls and my mom getting ready with me though, and I'm sure he'll have some of the guys who end up going with him (or his mom).
  4. thanks Tia! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now if I can just get the photographer nailed down...
  5. This is GREAT info. Thank you!! I did finally find it on the website where it specifies casita for the free wedding. I'm kinda of leaning towards the same decision you made. I'd want to swap out a lot of the purchased wedding package anyway (we aren't doing a legal ceremony, I don't want fresh flower bouquets, whatever). So we're just waiting for the price of the casita to add that to the contract so we can do this stuff up. and I agree - their policy on the free room does stink. but it sounds like most of my guests are planning on 3 or 4 nights. Only a few have said a week is what they want to do. Fine by us...
  6. ok EDR brides: so EDR gave us some new info today. in order to get the free afternoon wedding, we'd have to be booked in a Casita suite for 7 nights. It really doesn't specify this ANYWHERE on the website (morning vs. afternoon wedding, Casita vs. EDR room). has anyone else been told this? our intention was to book the free wedding for 4pm, and we would upgrade depending on how many guests we have in our final count (20? great, we'll upgrade. 50? FABULOUS. let's work with the freebies). we were thinking of staying in a Casita suite regardless, but didn't want to be locked into that just yet b/c of the cost. (again..20 guests? upgrade suite & wedding. 50 guests? freebie and basic suite).
  7. Lindsey - you are gorgeous!! thanks for sharing your salon experience. I am thinking that I'm going to do wind chimes for our favors. I'll hang them around the chuppa for the ceremony, then have our guests take them for the reception.
  8. sooo glad you asked these questions. was wondering the same thing!! I really want to wear my hair down, or half up, half down, but am worried about the humidity-frizz factor. and make up...I'm so clueless about wedding (photography) make up.
  9. Happy New Year!!!!! Ohhh the kitchen aid mixer. are you a big baker?? I've thought about those, but decided I probably wouldn't use it enough. Our Christmas was good - my FI surprised me and got me an iPad. I've coveted one since they came out, but just couldn't pull the trigger. Just savoring the last bit of the holidays. We're both off tomorrow, and planning to go to a basketball game tomorrow night. We have picked our date, and are just waiting to confirm it with EDR. Should get all of that tied up next week!!! Hey Nikki guess what?! WE'RE GETTING MARRIED THIS YEAR!! I'm a dork..I know.
  10. oh Catherine - GORGEOUS!!!!! I just shared this with my girl posse who are driving me NUTS with their endless questions about the resort & wedding.
  11. you must be so excited!!!! great photos - y'all are so cute and happy together.
  12. I've seen some cute BMs carrying pinwheels - you can easily DIY these. get paper you like from the craft store, blingy brads, some thin dowels, and voila! you could assemble them when you arrive.
  13. Tammy - I'm using a different TA. Is it ok to attend, or is this just for BDW brides who book through your agency? Just wanted to clarify, didn't want to crash the party
  14. I'm deputizing a friend to carry it for me. pressed powder, lip stick and breath mints. plus an emergency dress-fix kit (safety pin, fashion tape, etc). I will lose track of it, no doubt!!
  15. TheWolforts - thank you so much for the advice (and for confirming our choice!!!). 4.5 months to go - so exciting. Love your centerpieces - are you bringing them with you, or renting them? and the invites are lovely!! I really like the scroll work on the side, and the starfish too. Lesli - I think my FI is going to order from studiosuits.com - I sent him that link this weekend. I want him in a gray linen suit (he of course doesn't get a lot of input!). I think you're right about it being good to order early. Just in case... I have my dress picked out and ordered, and lots of ideas for other details. But mainly waiting to sign the contract for the resort, lock in my wedding date/time, and get the save-the-dates done/sent. My closest girlfriends are pestering me for the details - they won't let me give them any surprises. so that will be tricky to figure out - I don't want to tell them EVERYTHING of course.
  16. FWIW...we have (already) changed our minds. or rather, I managed to convince my FI that the JP here in the US will just be paperwork. We won't exchange rings or vows when we do that. Just sign the papers needed to file with the County/State. Whew...needle avoided (plus the need to be there 3 business days ahead of our wedding date, and the pre-scripted ceremony).
  17. Past EDR brides: do you remember which brands of liquor they keep at the bars? I'll be asking my TA to confirm, but also thought some of you might remember too. I'm working on finalizing our quote, and it looks like I'll be an EDR bride too!!!
  18. late breaking news...my sister has decided it isn't practical for them to go to Mexico for the wedding. so it looks like I'll be an EDR bride!! will be working with our TA to firm up prices and dates, then moving forward with our Save-the-Dates and website. bittersweet of course, I'd rather have my sister there. but it is what it is, and we'll be getting married regardless!
  19. that's a really cool venue Nikki!! my friend's sister did a DW to Cabo, got married at a restaurant there for something different. they loved it! it's definitely something to consider - an offsite venue. no worries about the speedo photo bomb.... not even chicken nuggets? oh my... we will have to consider that if the kiddos go (though that doesn't look likely at all). how was your Christmas??
  20. I love this idea!!! I adore wind chimes, and it would make a great favor. plus hanging them around the chuppa would be pretty.
  21. should be an ok date as far as the weather. we are going with early November so that we don't get into the holiday craziness. while it's still technically hurricane season, it's pretty rate to get one in that area in November (though they did have one Oct 27th this year).
