  1. Coquine - they look GREAT! I'm envious of your Kate Spades. And your wedding date is so close now!!!!!!
  2. what is keeping you from wanting to choose Trina as your MOH? Is it just that you are feeling closer to Erin, and she's been more helpful during the planning process? And Trina needs to back off about her husband being a GM (ok, maybe it's just that I think she needs to back off period). That just isn't appropriate!!! Idunno, I would lean towards not choosing a maid of honor between the two, and not having one at all (just 2 BMs). I think I would say it more like "I can't choose, and you both/all three are very important to me. thank you for standing up with me as bridesmaids!" and just leave it at that...
  3. Thanks Murmel! those are great ideas. Also - I found pics of the Gazebo 55, Blanco Gazebo and Fuentas - so we're all good there. Just enjoy your anniversary trip!!
  4. great website Stacy!! you gave me lots of ideas for adding on to ours as we get closer. I did wedding wire too - it's super easy. Ours is pretty simple so far. http://www.weddingwire.com/AllisonSteveMexico
  5. So we decided to go with a digital STD, and are calling and emailing our invited guests. What fun, what fun (NOT!!). We will get them to put their deposits down by 1/25, which will let us set the room block for the contract, and lock in the discount we got (we're at 30%, which is part of the urgency - the 30% is only offered through 1/31). Anyone who doesn't put down their deposit by 1/25 may or may not get the discount - apparently it's up to the resort. Am hoping our TA and supplier will be able to push them to add if we really, really need to. I'm still pretty unhappy having to go with a digital STD vs paper - of all the things about my wedding that are important, the paper suite was one of them. So letting a piece of that go is killing me. But, what can you do? adjust and move on... here's our digital STD
  6. That is sooo nice of you to offer!!!! If you have a chance, would you snap a pic of the Fuentas Gazebo, Tucanes and the Health Bar? those are the three that I'm not that familiar with. Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!! What an awesome way to celebrate.
  7. I can post my our logo - YAY!!! This was done by Little Bean Shop on etsy (sorry if it's huge!)
  8. well our flights aren't wrapped in - all of our guests are coming from different places, so it wasn't possible to get a flat rate. we're only trying to lock down the resort. the guests will have to pay for airfare in full whenever they decide to book the air (plus it's really high this far out).
  9. how did you guys handle having to hold a certain # of rooms? did you hold less than what you thought would be filled, or more? we're trying to guess the # in order to do the contract on the room block. we could have 10..we could have 30...
  10. Hey neighbor! I'm in Fort Worth too. We haven't decided what we're doing with regards to the dinner. We're both ok with just doing dinner reservations at the restaurant and going super low key. I like the floating candle idea too - but will they stay lit? or is it the LED lights that will float? I was thinking about getting some tea light candle holders and the little LED "candles" that flicker for decorations, then throwing some shells, starfish, etc. for the tables. For the ceremony, I am thinking ribbons for the chairs, small chinese lantern for the aisles, and a few medium/large ones on the chuppa w/ the white fabric. And parasols (paper/chinese) - two of those. dang, even that's a lot of crap to haul to Mexico!
  11. FYI ladies - ideeli has stilettos on sale today - Badgley Mischka, Ivanka Trump, Chinese Laundry & Sascha London. If anyone needs an invite, feel free to PM me your email and I'd be happy to share!
  12. I dont think I will have any official bridesmaids. My fi doesn't think any of his friends will go so he won't have any groomsmen. I like equal...so there you go. I will ask a couple of my closest friends to get ready with me in addition to my mom and be sort of "unofficial" bridesmaids. I am thinking about making some sort of card to send them to ask.
  13. ok, I'm going to say it's NOT bridezilla-like at all. Printing out that Pinterest board to use as a discussion point with your photographer, AND a shot list of the must-have-will-die-if-missed shots is a GOOD idea. Bridezilla is "these and only these shots". What's wrong with saying "full length photo of me alone in my dress", or "bride and groom at altar together"? These are moments that you can't get again (sure they can be recreated..but we know it's never really the same). Do it! My photog will hopefully be my good friend, who shot our pre-engagement photos - and even though she knows us, I will still go over the shots that I really want to make sure we get with her. and she wants that too. So I say go for it!!
  14. I was emailing with our (potential) photographer today, and said I'd need to run all of this by my FI. Then I told her that I expected the typical groom response of "whatever makes you happy". She said that's what she usually hears from her brides!!! Ah well, at least mine is somewhat typical. I try to solicit his opinion here and there, and he'll offer one (as long as I'm truly open to his opinion). For instance, I asked him if there was any part of the "traditional" wedding ceremony/reception that were important to him to keep in - meaning things like the garter toss, toasts, whatever. His response was "the part where they say 'you may now kiss the bride'". Kind of hard for me to argue with that one. Then he got upset when I said I wanted to be included when he picks out his suit.... argh! He wanted brown...and I want him in grey (I hate brown!). Boys..silly creatures sometimes.
  15. ah yes, the tears. sometimes you just have to pull them out!!! glad you got a date, and this month!! I have a feeling that once your surgery & recovery is behind you, you'll be able to focus 100% on wedding planning. hang in there girl.
  16. Yeah - $10 per vase really chaps my hide!! but then again, everything else (hopefully) will add up to less than a wedding at home would have, so if it's $10 for 5 or 10 vases...I might just chalk it up and go with it. if I had any faith in shipping to Mexico, I'd consider that route. My TA said she had to rattle some chains at EDR to get the wedding dept to reply today. still trying to lock down my date & time, get the contract finalized, etc. so we can move on. She emails me in the morning, and last thing at night to let me know what's going on. I love my TA! It sounds like everyone pretty much chooses Gazebo 55 for their location. Is that the one with the rock wall in a circle back against the ocean? and a cute thing I have to share: I have been working on our wedding website, and I sent it to my FI so he could take a peek at the work in progress. he's so excited that he sent it out to his friends...and then I had to fuss at him a wee bit b/c it isn't ready yet (doesn't have the final rates or all of the info, FAQs aren't quite finished, etc.). Poor guy..can't win with my OCD self!!
  17. Shell - your dress is beautiful! the embroidery & beading is gorgeous. wow!! And I'm with you - I already have my dress (well it's been ordered), but I still get excited looking at everyone else's dresses. (I'm addicted I think).
  18. good luck with all of that! I heard back from my friend, she said the lady she used was in Cambridge, but has now moved offices. My friend said all this lady did was handle the booking. My friend had to do all of the research, discussions with the resort, etc. So she really wouldn't recommend her to others... sorry I wasn't any help!
  19. a friend of mine who lives outside of TO used a TA for her DW (that's a lot of initials!). Let me find out who she used and if she'd recommend them.
  20. wow - what a variety of professions!!! Mine is sooo not exciting. I'm an insurance broker - we work with employers to manage the benefits they provide to their employees. zzzzzzzzz!!!! But it pays the bills, and I can't complain about that.
  21. must have been the Christmas for iPads huh?! FUN. I'm 303 days... and was working on our website earlier. Had typed out all sorts of FAQs and then lost it. grrrrrrr Our invite list is at 60. I'm really, really hoping only 20-30 end up going. Otherwise it's going to be way more expensive than I was planning on! Have also been talking with my friend who's a photographer to get a quote and see if we can afford to have her shoot our wedding. So things are moving along. it totally sucks that you'll have to wait that long for surgery. I guess no country really has healthcare figured out... I'm crossing my fingers that there's a cancellation and they get you in sooner. And NO PAIN ATTACKS ALLOWED, ok?
  22. welcome and happy planning!! I'm another Texan.
  23. 2 days?! WOW! sooo excited for you!! I'm at 303 days. And just excited that I actually have a date set!
  24. beautiful rings ladies!!! congrats on the holiday engagements.
