  1. I would guess it should be soon. I ordered min on Oct 29th, and it came in Jan 31st. The waiting is hard!!!
  2. This is essentially the same process we went through with our TA. We did an electronic Save the Date/Book Your Room, with a non refundable deposit (ours was only $50, but packages don't include airfare). While the electronic version wasn't what I wanted/planned, everything worked out fine. I would go ahead and send out your STD-BYR type notice (whether electronic or mail). 90 days is plenty of time (we had 2 weeks!).
  3. your dress (and you!) are beautiful! congrats on your wedding. looks like you had perfect weather.
  4. ashbrooke - I posted these for the other girls to see. if you want me to take them down, say the word and I will! I think everything looked lovely! I like the arrangements on the gazebo, and the petals on the runner. there were some serious waves while you were there. was it windy? did they set up the chair pads, or were those extra?
  5. They do still charge the outside vendor fee, unless your photog is a guest for 3+ nights and then we got them to waive it. I've heard the vendor fee for other types of vendors (DJs, etc) is $800. but our contract only had $500 listed specific to photographers. We aren't planning to bring in any other vendors though. Quite a few of my guests are not coming as a couple - several girls are rooming together, and then I have a few who are going to be singles. I figure with the group from the wedding, they will find someone to hang out with and it'll be ok.
  6. we started letting people know about 14 months out, but the STD didn't go out until about 11 months before. I would have rather sent them at the 14 month mark so people could save, and I could get an idea of how many rooms to block ahead of time. So I say go for it!
  7. I've been working with Natalia. The first few weeks while I bombarded her with questions and we got the formalities set up she was great. She replied in 24-48 hours. Right now we're waiting for her to confirm the locations for the ceremony & dinner/reception, and it's taken 3 weeks. She keeps blaming the resort, but then tells me it'll take a week to hear from them. Ok lady - it's been 3!! Time to get pushy on that particular topic (I'm nervous that they will schedule something else in the places I want and I'll have to get leftovers). Anyway - I would up the persistence, and if you need to, contact the hotel and tell them Lomas isn't being responsive. Stina - I'd be in freak out mode too. Can I help you with anything?? I wear an 8, otherwise I'd totally take you up on those sandals. I'm still drooling over them lol I had a friend of mine design the mad libs for us, and then printed them with vista print group on I had (though they take FOREVER to print & ship..). I can see if she'd be open to doing one for you if you'd like. I keep thinking we're going to skip OOT bags too since we'll be hauling plenty down as it is. And I just don't know how much they really get used. I'd rather do a nice favor, cocktail hour or something like that vs. OOT bags. Ashely - many, many good wishes for a long and happy marriage!!! thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are trying really hard to keep the pre-ceremony legalities on the down low. I will take your advice to heart. and Tupac right after dinner is really kicking it into high gear fast! lol can't wait to see your pics (if you are willing/able to share them). what were your arrangements? where was your ceremony & reception? what was your favorite restaurant? I'm nosey!!!
  8. We ended up buying a dress off the rack from Dillard's of all places (but I don't think you guys have them up there in NJ?!) we tried several bridal shops but the "traditional" MOB dresses were too formal, and too expensive for that matter (the ones she liked we'd have to hem, and then make a bolero for it on top of all that). here's what she ended up with: http://www.dillards.com/product/London-Times-Shimmer-Tiered-Dress_301_-1_301_502946177?rr=true you may want to try Macy's off the rack, or even Norstrom's. The dresses we found were in their special occasions dress department, but weren't special order.
  9. absolutely. Our group booked in late January after we sent out our electronic STD and "book your room". We had to do that in order to firm up our room block and get the promo rate at the resort. We are still planning to send out formal invites as our date gets closer. I don't think the formal invites are required or even needed at this point. When I think wedding, I think invites and I don't want to skip it just because we chose to get married in Mexico. So it's a personal choice for me. I will include them with more of a pre-travel brochure or info for those who are going (and will still send invites to those we asked to go but aren't able to join us).
  10. You made an excellent choice - it's a beautiful dress and looks great on you!!
  11. That'll be a nice way to include them Stina. and I'm totally envious that you found those starfish sandals - they are AWESOME (from the Show us your shoes thread). We just steamed & folded the chair sashes I got from another BDW bride. Whew!!! I promptly put them into space bags and set them in my office/craft room/wedding collection room. If any EDR brides after my date want 100 orange organza chair sashes (and 4 orange pin tuck table runners), let me know. Would be happy to leave those behind with your name on them. I also ordered the base for the invites, and our guest book (wedding mad libs!). checking things off the list... how's the planning going for you guys? Stina - need any help with anything?? Your date is coming up soon!
  12. I found my shoes! sorry for the crappy pic (cell phone). Kenneth Cole wedges, found on sale at the outlets. the footbed is cork, and the wedge is actually wood.
  13. I'm a big fan of a pop of color in your shoes, so I vote pink!
  14. oh Nikki - it's STUNNING. sooooo freaking amazing!! I teared up a little for ya. YAY for finding THE DRESS!
  15. We are getting married here before we go, and trying to keep that quiet (just us, paperwork, blah blah blah). Folks are already asking us if the Mexico wedding will be legal though - we've just said "yes" and left it at that lol No AHR for us. We really don't have a lot of friends or family in this area since neither of us grew up here. The whole point of the destination wedding was a result of our friends & family living all over the country and they'd have to travel no matter where we chose to have our wedding.
  16. I've seen those as well. When I clicked through to the site (UK based retailer), they are sold out.
  17. I had the same thought. The ruffle at the top seems a bit high impaired to the designer dress. Love the back!
  18. Hey Jn! Congrats on choosing edr and your date. I'm doing a traditional dress - no flowing chiffon for me. Not flattering on my body and just not my style. I've accepted the fact that I will be sweating in my dress. But will be beautiful so worth it. I think my fi is going to wear linen. Not sure if he's going to do a jacket ( in which case I'd encourage short sleeved shirt so he can ditch the jacket later) or long sleeves and a vest.
  19. Living Social had another one today in Dallas/Fort Worth! Let me know if anyone needs the link and I'll pull it from my email. $10 for $50.
  20. I am still undecided about OOT bags. leaning towards not doing them...but that could change as we get closer. what about Tide to go pens? or a cup of some sort?
  21. hey Jaime, have you tried on dresses anywhere else? if not, I'd suggest making a run to David's to try some more on. See if any of those shapes or styles give you a feeling that is different from the one you've tried and liked (but not loved). It could be that the other stuff with wedding planning not going so well is getting you down, and it's tough to envision your day or be excited about it. here's a tip - ANY dress will look good on the beach. seriously. if you like it, wear it. it's your day. so don't stress that it needs to be a "typical" destination wedding dress. there's no such thing. if you like a blinged out ball gown, then it's PERFECT for your day. if you like a chiffon flowing sheath, AWESOME. as far as knowing it's "the one", from my own experience I had that moment. not the teary boo hoo factor - that was all my mother. but the "I love this dress" moment. There were other dresses I liked, but the girls in the shop were pretty firm with "like isn't good enough". And they were right. So I say keep shopping until you find what you love. the dress that when you put it on, you can totally see yourself walking down the aisle. forget preconceived ideas or other's opinions (I know TONS of brides who ended up with a dress that wasn't anything like what they originally thought they wanted - me included). I hope that helps, and wish you all the best!
