Very Rough-Draft on OOT bags..
AllieH replied to MissBubbles205's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I like how it's all coming together!!! -
Hey Shan, Yes - I'm completely OCD with the planning. If it's any consolation - my FI does not even HAVE his suit yet, much less any shoes. He's told me he wants to wear an "ecru or bone" linen suit - which frankly I'm not thrilled about. I don't know what color shirt he wants, or tie, or shoes, or whatever. Letting it go.... he's a grown man and I suppose he can pick out his own clothes. Can't wait to see your e-pics!!! so cool! Adesir - ohhhh a trip to DR next week sounds LOVELY. I'm really wanting a trip to lay on the beach asap. Yeah, not happening for us unfortunately. The most I'm hoping for is a night at a hotel locally that has a nice pool lol We did the email STD also. A friend of mine designed my invites (she did my STD and all of the paper stuff for the wedding), and then we had it printed with 123print.com. I was going to use VistaPrint, and had a couple of groupons for them. But I found that VistaPrint didn't have the sizes I wanted and it was just a pain to use. 123print.com was super easy, had standard invite sizes, and they came much faster than the stuff I did order from VistaPrint (with in a week!). I get 15% and 20% off coupons from them pretty frequently, and it's still really affordable. Hi Kelly - welcome to the roll call!! You are cruising on the planning too.

I found them one day on pickyourplum.com - they send out daily deals on various craft supplies or home deco. I think they were 50 for $4 or something silly like that. Way cheaper than I found on any website, and I just got lucky that they were offered in the blue & orange colors that fit perfectly. They aren't thin, and feel like decent quality. I've seen them offered a couple of times since I bought them, and pink is usually one of the colors (a soft pink though, not a bright pink or fuschia).

Yes, I have a chart I created and used when I was comparing resorts. I just created it in excel based on things we were considering and things that were important to us. I used non-group pricing as a comparison, going with the assumption that group promos would be better (they were). I also did a ton of research on the resorts here at BDW and on TripAdvisor. And end the end I chose the resort that resonated the most with me during all of that research. if you want to PM me your email, I'll be happy to send it to you.

Show us your wedding dress!
AllieH replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
wow - that's a stunning photo!!! and your dress is gorgeous -
I started some of my DIY projects today, and started with the small one: adding little flags to my striped straws. I have light blue & white, as well as these orange & white ones. I finished the blue ones and started on the orange, and that's when the adhesive ran out. These will go on the bar to be served with the beverages during the dinner/reception. e orange, and then ran ou

I decided to hem my dress to flats, and still wear wedges for the ceremony. I will sink in the sand with the wedges anyway, and having it a touch shorter will keep the hem out of the sand (mostly). and I'll be comfortable in flats or flip flops later in the night. When I walked with the hem pinned wearing the wedges, you really couldn't tell it was hemmed higher or "wrong". I've been to weddings where the poor bride is holding up her dress at the end of the night because she kicked off the heels, and I just don't want to deal with that.

Hi Chiquita! I was kind of like Jill - at first I wasn't thinking we'd pay for a private reception, but I've changed my mind (errr, we've changed OUR minds..?). I'm still not doing a DJ though - just going with the iPod for party music. we are using the dinner reservation as a rehearsal or welcome dinner - I'm trying to move it from a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding, to a welcome dinner the first night everyone is there. We will have our photog for 6 hours, but many of my friends are photography nuts so there will still be plenty of evidence of the later hours of the celebration. the private dinners are anywhere from $20 - $35pp, and that includes the open bar. remember you are paying for the additional set up and extra staff just for your event. Where I'm finding the extra costs is around decorations for the reception. At first I didn't really want them, but then I do - I want personal touches, etc. but I'm finding ways to do it fairly inexpensively, and still small/easily packed items to take with us (and minimizing the outrageous fees from EDR). The main thing is for you to do what will work best for you & your groom. There are no rules on a DW - what some of us do may not work for others. I had a friend who had 12 guest, and it was a very small wedding. They didn't take a lot of extras down, and had a dinner reservation in one of the restaurants. And it was PERFECT for her. That's all that really matters!!!

YAY another November bride!!! how's your planning coming along? I won't freak you guys out with my lists again, but I did have a fitting for my dress (way, WAY ahead of schedule), found my jewelry, and have all the stuff ordered for my invites. I am doing a semi-DIY invite - got the invite, rsvp and registry printed online, and then bought pretty envelopes, making a sash for the invites and envelope liners. I may also add some sort of badge or pretty closure to the sash, but we'll see! 6 months from tomorrow for me! how is everyone else??

ok - I know you ladies will appreciate this bit of silliness: I got my personalized hanger today that says "mrs. moore". i got all giddy and teary eyed at the same time. holy crap! I'm going to be mrs moore in 6 months!!! I say silly b/c we've been engaged since last July. I have my dress, I've even done a fitting. I have a pile of wedding stuff (including the invites) in my craft room. but yet, that darn hanger is "the moment" when it all became real. what was the moment for you guys?? is it just me..?

so wait. first they screw up your color, then they tell you they damaged your hair so bad they can't fix it? and they CHARGED you for this? call the salon manager and talk to them. at the very least, if they are afraid to damage it more, they need to give you back your $$. or offer to help you get it healthy again and then fix the color for FREE. sorry, I'm steamed on your behalf!!

this one is good news. whew. this one? it sucks. I'm sorry - I know what it's like to be worried about the older dog, and the "is it time" question. tied in with the "we're leaving for our wedding" question... Take one day at a time, and talk with your vet honestly on Saturday about what's going on. My old girl also had the vestibular syndrome, and she went through the geriatric wasting as well. So I've been there and it's awful, no matter what. See what your vet says, and then talk to your dog sitter too. I would be honest about the "what if" question for your dog sitter - if something should happen, how do you want him/her to handle, and talk with the vet he/she would take your dog to while you're gone about your preferences. it just sucks, and I'm sorry you're having to face this, especially at this time.

Yeah, that's just not right. I'd be fuming, and pull out the Bridezilla here. I guess all you can do is hope she gets back to you, and if she doesn't, confirm it once you get to the resort (and then demand compensation for the lack of response). Do you have a travel agent who can help? I emailed her today as I am getting antsy to have everything finalized and I got an out of office response!!! Apparently, she and the entire Lomas Wedding office our out of the office for the week visiting resorts... 1) Shouldnt she tell the brides she is working with, especially those with weddings in the next couple of weeks, that she will be out? 2) What am I going to do?!

Stina - sorry you had to go all Bridezilla on them, but glad they made it all right for you in the end. TheWolforts - so soon now!!! and 20% - wonder why they wouldn't tell me that when I chatted with them?? Jill - I still haven't had a response from Natalia to my epic email of questions either. I guess when she wants decisions from me she'll reply... and not answer any of the questions I've asked.

well crap - Idunno Jill. here's what Natalia told me: The cost of a day pass to attend the Wedding has a price of 72.00usd per person, This day pass has an 8 hrs lasting. In case this is not the wedding, the price of this day pass is 80 usd. Please note that the day passes must be 18 years or older, with ID presented at the front desk. In case you host a Private dinner reception ( for a minimum of 4 hrs) and you pay for the outsider guests to have dinner, the day pass is waived. Please note at least 80% of the total of the wedding group must stay at the resort in which the wedding is being held. --- So it is specifically a private dinner reception, or maybe if you do the "4 hour event" it will work? I'd still ask!!!
