  1. the B&W party sounds like it was fun!! and your pics are GORGEOUS. your hair & make up do look great. do you think it was worth the price they charge? particularly for the make up.
  2. I'm sorry too!! I agree with murmel, you should DEFINITELY bring this up to Valeria, and Rafa if needed. They need to give you $$ back or make it right!!
  3. yeah, I think you can blame me for that one. I've had to escalate the recent issues I've had with Lomas to my travel agent, who contacted the hotel, and has involved the manager at Lomas. One of my issues is that my WC (Natalia) is giving me answers that are the opposite of what I was told via a chat session (and also contradicts what all of you have shared from your experiences). Needless to say, all is NOT well in the DW planning world right now.
  4. Amanda - I'm so glad to hear your DW went well!!! can't wait to see pics, and hear more details. pretty, pretty please?
  5. I'm wearing ivory, and will have an American manicure instead of french - it's an off white tip vs. bright white. I agree with JQ though - I don't think anyone will notice french vs. american or anything else! Shoes were a hard find for me too - but not b/c I wanted ivory. I wanted a blue sandal, and still haven't found the 100% perfect choice (I have something that will work, but isn't perfect. and I always take any excuse to shop for shoes!). I think you'll be just fine with silver if you don't want a pop of color in your shoes.
  6. Jessi - love your dress! it will be so stunning on you. Dazeydawl - your dress is so unique and gorgeous. Glad you just went for what you wanted! Cinnagirl - love your sophisticated dress!!!
  7. Yes it is!! I love, LOVE your dress. can't wait to see more of your pics.
  8. welcome back!!!!! and major bummer that your hubby had to fly off to work right away. looking forward to hearing about your wedding and EDR.
  9. so pretty!!!!!! I love the bright colors, and your cake is really pretty too.
  10. JQ - what a FIND! your mom is gorgeous, and so is the dress. and what a bargain. daaaaang. Quote: Originally Posted by JQLong We were lucky!!!! And....we found a bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Marked Down $138...(we were excited about this....) But she paid....$39.99!!!! I was AMAZED!!!
  11. I will put them in a box in our carry on - shouldn't be a big deal.
  12. I have to vote #1 also. A) it looks AMAZING on you. if you add less ruffles and remove the shoulder strap from #2, it's basically dress #1. So it seems you are drawn to that one. I like #3, it's more simple than the other two, but reminds me of a ballerina. which one made you feel beautiful when you tried it on?
  13. are places like Macy's out? They are having a sale on their linen suits right now. Brands like Tommy Bahama, Calvin Klein and Kenneth Cole.
  14. I got the pics for my real touch bouquet - and love it! here's the inspiration: I wanted white orchids instead of white roses in memory of my grandparents (they raised orchids, and we always had orchid corsages or headbands for any holiday or event). Here's what we did: his bout: and the corsage that will be for our mother's and his sister (his sister's is shown - it's a wrist corsage): I will be making a simple white calla lilly bouts for our fathers. The seller is KateSaidYes on etsy.
  15. We ran into that as well - the dresses for MOB were VERY matronly, or they were too young (bridesmaid dresses). My mom still wanted the top of her arms covered, but she didn't want anything too formal. It was harder to find my mom's dress than it was my own! We hit 3 different bridal shops, and everything she tried on was "too" something or other. Too hot, too long, too formal, too - whatever lol We finally went to Dillard's and found a dress there that she loved. It is a light/pewter blue, and dressy without being too formal. And it was fairly inexpensive too. I can't pull a picture from Dillard's, but here's the link: http://www.dillards.com/product/London-Times-Shimmer-Tiered-Dress_301_-1_301_502946177?splashlink=header_wapparel
  16. My FI is like lkterry's. If I ask him his opinion, he'll share it. Otherwise he doesn't really care.
  17. If all of our guests were staying the full week, I probably would have picked wednesday or something! I still ran into some issues with the resort trying to reserve the location for our reception - another group had booked it. After a couple of months they finally confirmed it as available for us (whew). I don't know if the other group moved to another venue or what happened. But we got what we wanted. My recommendation is to have an idea of the dates in mind, and before you book, confirm it's available with the resort. Then once it's all booked, reserve the spaces you want for the ceremony and/or reception as soon as you can make those decisions. This is especially true if you're looking at some of the more popular resorts for weddings - Dreams, Secrets, etc. I thought 10+ months out would be more than enough time to get the venues set up with the resort...and it almost wasn't. I'm just glad I can help answer a few questions during the planning process!!
  18. Yeah, so the tape runner adhesive didn't hold them - very unusual, since it's usually very tacky and works great on paper. I had to resort to diamond glaze to stick the straw flags together. just thought I'd share my DIY learning experiences! lol My FI has declared that if I expect him to dance with me at our wedding, then we need to take dance lessons. As in, he thinks we should have some sort of choreography for our first dance, so we don't look silly out there. Uhm, I'm find shuffling from foot to foot and swaying to the music... soooo first songs that are nice and slow and a good rhythm for a waltz? I have no clue...
  19. I'm originally from FL myself. And love Brooklyn too...ahh the city. good luck with the dress shopping ladies!
  20. Just an idea - we chose to get married on a Monday for the same reason. Folks can fly in Saturday, spend 3 nights, and go home on Tuesday. still a long weekend w/ 2 days off, but less traveled days, and (hopefully) easier scheduling for vendors on a Monday vs. a Saturday. Plus the added benefit of a short work week when they get back.
  21. y'all, it's a curse. lol with my dress - I was so terrified I wouldn't find a dress that was flattering (I'm a big girl!), and wanted to make sure I had time to shop EVERYWHERE. I was soooo wrong in my delusions thank goodness. So that's the story with the dress. Adesir - which borough are you in? My FI is from Manhattan, 100% city boy.
