  2. Congrats Riz!! I'm so glad everything went well for you. I told ya DJ All Music was pretty good - I'm glad that worked out well for you too. YAY! Happy Marriage!!! enjoy your honeymoon.
  3. woohooo Lindsey! Wishing you a very, very happy wedding-moon. Enjoy every moment.
  4. Hi RaeRae, Welcome to BDW! Many brides (including myself) choose to do the symbolic ceremony in Mexico, and do the legal (paperwork) in their hometown. Where do you live? The legal requirements for marriage differ by countries, and within the US, even by state or county. Here in TX, it wasn't difficult to do the legal part, just a few steps and time invested. We had to go to the county clerk's office to get our license, book an appointment with a Justice of the Peace to legally marry us, and then return to the clerk's office to file the license/certificate (could have mailed it in, but I needed certified copies anyway for the name change). We did this a couple of weeks before we left for Mexico. Our wedding in Mexico was the symbolic ceremony, and we wrote it ourselves. the minister was selected by the resort, and he followed our script as requested. We also had a certificate to sign as part of the ceremony, so our guests didn't even realize it wasn't legal. That part was super easy! Hope that helps.
  5. you can also do the gel cups - they can sew those right into your dress!
  6. I would seat his father & his SO first. Then his mother. Will there be another (close) relative of hers/your FI's who could walk her down the aisle? If not, maybe he can do it? My husband walked his mom (and his sister) down the aisle, even though she is remarried. We had his step dad simply take his seat at the front with the rest of the guests. Once my FI escorted his mother, he took his position at the front of the aisle. Then my mom was escorted by my brother, and then my father walked me down the aisle (we didn't have a wedding party). We chose not to include his father in the processional, as my FI is not very close to him. hope that helps with some ideas! I would do whatever works best for you guys vs. worry about perfect wedding etiquette/order.
  7. woohoo!! congrats on selecting your resorts ladies!

Hi Janey, welcome to BDW! You're going to have to sit down with the bride and have a heart to heart about funding for the shower/party. be honest about what you can afford and what you had in mind. tell her (repeatedly!) that you have saved and worked hard and really want to celebrate with them, but the difference in her thoughts and yours are worlds apart. ask her to brainstorm with you on ways to accomplish the grand soiree she wants - financially, logistically, locations, etc. are they going to pitch in? families? it's not going to be an easy conversation, but maybe you'll find she doesn't expect you to pay for the whole thing (which - by the way is completely unrealistic!!!). good luck!!
  9. Ditto what Gail said!!! Francisco was the shuttle driver that my girls loved - he's FB friends with all of them now. And Victor from NYC was our favorite bartender - we can't wait to see them again! don't be nervous Lindsey. it will all be absolutely wonderful. go enjoy all of your planning and hard work. most importantly - enjoy your wedding day and honeymoon in paradise!
  10. it's pretty darn windy on the beach so the breeze will keep you cool. and the water will be nice and refreshing for a break while you're there. on your wedding day - just expect to be hot. it's the dress and the excitement. you'll be gorgeous no matter what!!!
  11. what a beautiful resort!! I really love all of the venues you chose, and the decorations are lovely. You are a beautiful bride too! Congratulations on your marriage, and thanks sooo much for sharing the photos. Wishing you all the happiness!
  12. Dawn - congrats to you both! Your photos are beautiful. You are such a gorgeous bride!
  13. those photos are awesome Gail! what matters is you had a wonderful day - and it sure sounds like you did. you look amazing! can't wait to see (and hear) more!
  14. So interesting that they are charging you based on the items you are bringing. I guess this is one policy we'll never quite understand!!! but hey, as long as it works out less for every bride, how it's calculated doesn't really matter. I had steamed the chair sashes in my dryer (on the quick steam, low heat setting) before I put them in my vacuum-pack bags because they were pretty wrinkled when I got them. We didn't steam them again after we got there - just handed the bags over to the onsite WC and her team. I was pretty careful when I bagged them up after the steam cycle though, trying to prevent wrinkles (creases weren't a big deal to me). I honestly didn't notice any issues with them!
  15. well I was curious that you were spending 10 days there before the wedding, but figured hey - party on! lol ok, so 9 days. still not bad!!
  16. WOOHOO! 2 days to go!! and totally know what you mean about the decision making.
  17. What day do you guys actually leave? I think we had about $300 total - $150 for the WC onsite meeting, and the rest for tips or miscellaneous stuff (airport food, etc). I wish we'd had about $300 after the WC fee, just in case. They do have an ATM at the resort (it's where the excursion desks are located, near the main lobby), but of course the fees are crazy.
  18. ditto what Gail said - ours was gone before we finished our formal photos. Quote: Originally Posted by mstigger We did not, and not because we didn't want to........the minister they had for us was AWESOME, she did such a good job but she was gone before I could even look twice!!
  19. hi CA! etsy seller KateSaidYes designed and put them together for me based on my inspiration. she was wonderful to work with! My bouquet was $120, each corsage (3 flowers) was $14 and each bout (2 flowers) was $10 each. arranging flowers has never been a skill I've had, and I was scared to death to attempt it on my own for my wedding. in the small world category - Orlando (area) is my hometown!
  20. these are amazing Nattie! I just love all of the happiness and love your photographer captures. special memories!!!
  21. it's an awesome story Lindsey!! mine kept threatening to do the Princess Bride ceremony - "do you?" yes "do you?" yes "MAN AND WIFE". in the end, he came up with really awesome vows that made all of us teary eyed. meanwhile, my vows were the ones that had a bit of silly in them. I know your ceremony will be awesome! and SOON!
  22. Hi Jenny, I wrapped my bouquet in tissue paper, and had it in my carry on bag (roller bag) with some other fragile stuff. The bouts & corsages we had were also wrapped in tissue in the same bag. They traveled really well!! I put them in our checked bag on the way back, and they were still not crushed at all. They are pretty resilient! You can see them in the photo below.
