  1. Yasmin is right - this is preferred by most vendors (US or Mexico), so you're ok! We paid for all of ours before we left too. And then had a few changes when we got onsite, and paid the difference there. So no worries.
  2. another thing to think about - when booking deeply discounted rooms, it's highly unlikely you will get the nicest rooms available, any upgrades, etc. the discounts are used to fill rooms, so someone who pays a higher price will get priority/preferential treatment vs. the discount room guest. I would ask your travel agent or the WC about lower rates based on what you're seeing published elsewhere. maybe the resort themselves are running a special (and do your own research too about incentives/group rates).
  3. Oxana, We didn't have any outside vendors, but I am really surprised they are charging you the outside vendor fee + more for an assistant. I'd have a hard time justifying that cost in your shoes. Let us know how it turns out!!
  4. here you go: I would have a pair of flats or wedges as a back up plan. Then you can try walking on the sand in the heels and in your alternate shoe.
  5. I wore wedges for my wedding, and switched to flats for our reception. I think walking in heels on the sand would be very difficult. They do rake it down fairly nicely for events, but it's still sand and it'll shift on you. And it probably depends on which gazebo you choose too - some are closer to the sidewalk, so less walking in the sand than others. The gazebos that are in the Casitas section are closest to the sidewalk. The presidential gazebo, white gazebo, chapel terrace gazebo and gazebo 55 are a little further. If you are using the Mexican Gazebo or the Chapel itself, it'll be just fine as those approaches are all sidewalks.
  6. Yes - we did the wooden runner. I liked the way it defined the aisle and added some contrast. We got it because of the way it looked, not because it was super functional and meant I didn't have to walk in the sand. We had them place it all the way towards the front so we could stand on it during the ceremony. My ankles will sometimes twist if I don't have something solid to stand on - it was safer for me to do the wooden runner vs. fall while standing during the ceremony (I know...I'm not at all graceful!). We still had to walk in the sand a bit from the sidewalk to the beginning of the wooden runner. I'll find a pic that shows that (they are at home..). You can see the runner in the photo below.
  7. wow Lindsey. WOW! Gina & Tony are incredibly talented, and I just love all the moments of your big day that they captured. you & DH are soooo dang adorable together.
  8. Our wedding sort of blew up in the living room. The big canvas is from Canvas People. The others are DIY with prints. The clock was a wedding gift, our cake topper is under the glass cloche, and two of the paper fans from our ceremony provide the pop of color. The framed word art was on our entry table at the reception, and the glass with sand & shells is similar to what we had on our tables. the whole wall
  9. it's a great idea! I wish we had done this. my photographer mentioned she nearly knocked over a particular guest who was pretty aggressively taking photos to get him out of her frame. of course, it turns out he was taking video, and stitched our whole ceremony together for us - so I can't be too upset about it!
