    I was trying to be nice! The martini bar was our evening destination... or the beach bar or the bar by the casitas. We stopped by Guacamayas one night, and didn't stay long. I've heard others like it though - I think it really depends on the night, and the crowd!!!

    I don't think I'd call it a disco..but Guacamayas is the main location for night time entertainment. It's B2 on the map - right by the chapel, close to the beach.

    Hi MrsS! We had a similar situation for our wedding last November - 4pm ceremony, sun set around 5:30pm. Our photog flew through the formal shots with our family & friends, and then we had plenty of time before/as the sun set for couples photos (we didn't have a bridal party). Can you take bridal party and family pics before the ceremony? You could do them separately if you aren't planning to see MrS. before the ceremony. Then the only ones you have after the ceremony would be the combined bridal party, family, and then bride and groom. And if you're planning on a first look (which I highly recommend!!), you may be able to get a lot of the couples photos out of the way before hand. It does require bumping back your getting-ready time, but it certainly can be done!!

    Hi Jenny, When I updated the EDR/EDCR thread, I wasn't able to find a website with more info on Royale Photo to see examples. I would ask your wedding coordinator at Lomas if they can provide a gallery or examples to review. Caribe does have a website, where you can view some of the past weddings they've shot. I also included their link in the EDR/EDCR thread. Sorry I'm not able to offer more info!!

    holy OUCH! that is wack. would you be interested in trying to DIY? find a white hibiscus, silk, add the netting and such to a fabric-covered headband..?

    Hi there!! Caribe is still one of the preferred photographers at the Azul resorts. Royale Photo the other approved photographer, and it appears that Claudia Photography Studio has a couple of packages listed. They are still charging the $800 fee for outside vendors. While the El Dorados do have more photographers, both Caribe & Royale's options are outlined in this post in the EDR/EDCR thread which may be helpful.     here's a view of my girls at Cocotal for our welcome dinner - they did the big candle in the center (light brown in the foreground), white place settings, and the blue glasses. it's very simple, and you can certainly dress it up if you'd like

    WITH! It looks gorgeous on you both ways, but the bling really adds to the dress, accents your figure and the lines of the dress itself.

    The tiki torches are $8 each, and the beach candle bags are $4 each. My photog took a nice photo of Cocotal undecorated, so you can see how much you want to add (or not). I'll hunt it down when I get home tonight.

    Shipping to Mexico is notoriously unreliable even if you use a major carrier (FedEx, UPS, etc) and customs can/will hold stuff. I recall reading about a Mexico bride who shipped her dress, and it never arrived at the resort. Unless you're willing to take the chance that your items are never delivered to the resort, I wouldn't recommend it. I'd spread them out in suitcases, or plastic bins, and enlist some of your closest family & friends to help you by taking the goodies down with them. Are there items you could potentially purchase in Mexico, and avoid carrying them with you. OOT bags are one of those things that are a really great idea, until it comes to the logistics of carting stuff down and stuffing the bags. Especially for a larger destination wedding... good luck to you!

    If we were doing an AHR, I'd have some sort of guest book or something - it's part of the wedding/celebration, and you can do one very easily. You can do a shutterfly photo book of pics from the mexico wedding, and have space for folks to sign, or get one of your fave photos from Mexico matted, and have folks sign the mat.

    Nikki- I love the idea of a vow renewal! I'm hoping to get my husband to renew our vows (informally) while we're at EDR this November. it's a good excuse, right?? Gail - it's so nice that she wants to do this for you. I totally understand how it might seem weird though. I agree - register at Lowe's or HD! I would also put on the invites something about "no gifts please, just your presence is required!" She could do a simple print at home type invite on some fun stationary or paper - Office Depot or Staples will have a variety.

    congratulations!!!!! EDR is a beautiful resort, and the white gazebo will make an amazing setting for your wedding. the official EDR thread lists most of the preferred vendors, and choices for planning/customizing your wedding. the first post lists the topics, and also links to each post to make it easier to navigate and find the info you're looking for. I tried to organize and explain it a little better than Lomas Weddings website does (which has all of the official options & pricing). We used the resort's DJ (DJ All Music) for our wedding last November, and had no complaints. We really had a great time with them. My mom & I also used the spa for our updo's on my wedding day - also very happy with those services (I also did a rehearsal for my hair). We didn't use the make up services, or the florists - I brought fake flowers instead. That said, the flowers I've seen from EDR have been gorgeous (with the except of poor Jen's!). If you stick with their flower selections/availability, you'll be good. There are tons of flower examples on the Lomas weddings website.

    hmmm interesting dilemma! Questions for you: --how long are you anticipating your ceremony to be? --how much time do you need to get from the ceremony location to the dock where the cruise will leave? --what type of boat is the cruise on? would there be a space flat (and safe) enough for you to do your dance? if so, I think I'd probably choose to do the entrance as you & your groom get on the boat, the first dance and speeches immediately. then you & your guests can enjoy the DJ, sunset and cruising for the rest of the time. --can you host the resort cocktail on another day (welcome cocktail when guests arrive, or post-wedding send off)? If so, I'd probably choose to do it a different day - to your point, you (and your guests) will probably want dinner when you get back from the cruise, so rather than doing another cocktail w/ hors d'oeuvres when you get back, just go to dinner and then meet up at the lounge/bar/disco. the timeline: 3pm - ceremony 4:30 - 6:30pm cruise 7pm - 9pm - dinner (perhaps split) post dinner until-- meet up for celebration those are my thoughts anyway.

    Lindsey - the petite cake is so cute! I wish I had gone with that. we did the tres leches cake for our dessert - it was on the pick & choose lunch menu, and we substituted it for part of our pick & choose dinner menu. it was YUMMY. better than the cupcakes (they were ok, but not the greatest..that's all!) here were our cupcakes - totally cute - we just didn't need cupcakes and dessert!
