  1. that's what we've heard/read - but the food quality trumps the beach for my husband. he's already decided where we're eating when we're there! (planners much?! noooo)
  2. or do a day after/rock the frock photog session when you get back home! I'm still looking for an excuse to put my dress on again...
  3. @@JenniferM - it really is an amazing resort. the only thing I wish was different is that the beach was nicer - and you could swim on more of it. but, that's a small thing. we were actually debating between ED Maroma and EDR, but decided for the value we'd go back to EDR (for the 3rd time in 19ish months..but who's counting...). we seriously looked at islands and resorts all over the Caribbean for the June trip - all inclusive, resort only, etc. from Aruba to Jamaica to Grand Cayman. Tammy (@tammyhost) found a screaming hot deal for us at EDR, and we decided that we shouldn't mess with a good thing. and I fibbed - our first look was scheduled for 2:30, not 3pm. so we had about an hour from the time we finished up in the salon, which wasn't nearly long enough!
  4. thank you so much!! it was SUCH a dream day. You are so welcome @@JulieAnne - I can't wait to hear about your wedding - just a few months away! We are going back to EDR in June to celebrate my birthday, that's how much we just LOVE EDR.
  5. This was one of those things I didn't think about prior to the ceremony! There was a table I could have set mine on, but I just handed it off to my mom in a "what do I do?!" moment at the beginning of the ceremony. My photog has a great shot of my mom watching the ceremony holding my bouquet as a result, so win-win!
  6. aaanddd we're going back to EDR! this time in June to celebrate my birthday. Can't wait!!! Thanks to Tammy at WTA for helping us book!
  7. yes, absolutely. You'll go over the layout for the reception when you meet with the onsite wedding coordinator.
  8. definitely get your WC to make your appointments before you go. that way you can insure you get the times you want. I had ours bumped back an hour from what the WC suggested, and SO glad I did. the WC should book you in the Casita spa - it's nicer - but just ask when you're talking with him/her about it. I didn't get my make up done at the spa, just my hair. So we had 3 hours total from the time we started at the spa until the first look was schedule. The hair appointment took 90 minutes, then we got back to my room and ordered lunch. we started on my make up, ate lunch, and then before we knew it 3pm was there. we rushed through getting the dress on and going out for first look - running about 20 minutes late (that was fine - the only thing we were late about was cutting out some pre-ceremony coupls photos of us). the cart was back at our room waiting for me, but had to take my DH to the ceremony site instead, and then she called a 2nd cart. fun times! moral of the story - just leave more time than you really think you need.
  9. Hi there! We did our hair at noon for a 3pm first look, and 4pm ceremony. Just mom & I got our hair done, at the same time. We *barely* had enough time when we stopped to eat lunch. I did a rehearsal with the stylist, and it took an hour. On my wedding day it took closer to 90 minutes (my hair wasn't MOVING!). So plan at least 90 minutes if you are doing an updo. You will be split up - there's 3 chairs in the Casitas salon, and you may be in the bridal suite. There are a couple of bridal suites in the Casitas which you can request. but not sure how the set up is in the EDR spa. And I don't know how many stylists they will have at one time for you though. Be sure YOU get yours done first, then your moms and maids. And figure in cushion time - you'll need it. Hope that helps!!
  10. Congratulations!!! What a wonderful way to honor your grandmother. Since AS Jamaica is part of the Karisma family, Lomas will be your wedding coordinators. While the resort will be new, Lomas is very experienced in planning and executing amazing weddings at their Mexico resorts. They pride themselves on service and making dreams come true. I have no doubt that you will be in VERY good hands with the Lomas team who will work with you to throw a dream wedding in Jamaica. Can't wait to hear about your experience!!
  11. I don't think you'd be able to fit 2 round tables for 10; but you should be able to get them to set up long tables for you - even one long table for all (with you guys in the center).
  12. those are good options!! choose what you love - that's the bottom line. don't worry about it feeling like a concert. choose what has meaning to you. Vitamin String Quartet has some great wedding music, mostly modern or rock, not country. I walked down the aisle to their version of Bruno Mars' Just the Way You Are - super fun. Cross My Heart by George Strait is one of my all time favorite country love songs. Make You Feel My Love - Garth Brooks Me and You - Kenny Chesney Valentine - Martina McBride
  13. We got a small cake from our local bakery to celebrate our 1st anniversary, put our cake topper on it, and called it done. From what we've heard, the year old frozen cake is pretty gross anyway and you won't want to eat it. Then factor in the international shipping - and I'm not sure they'd like sending baked good internationally anyway - it's a recipe for disaster. here's our anniversary cake:
  14. they brought the balloons and glow necklaces with them. it was just enough for us to enjoy!
  15. Hi Lolita - we had DJ All Music for our EDR wedding in 2012. We were very happy with them! They stuck to our list, the MC did his cues exactly when we wanted them, and we really had no issues at all. We were glad to have booked the DJ, as we were originally planning to go the iPod/speaker route as well. It made for a fun party! Lomas had videos of their DJs on their website if you want to check them out. http://www.weddingsbylomastravel.com/gallery/video/Dj-Music You would need to ask your Lomas WC if they will allow an outside DJ. They seem to have limited the types of outside vendors allowed.
  16. Hi there! I would expect them to push back on holding stuff now for a March wedding. They won't want to be responsible for it - getting lost, taken, broken, etc. It never hurts to ask, but I wouldn't be surprised if they say no. I had about 40 total paper lanterns in various sizes I think, and they surrounded Tucanes really nicely. here's how it looked with our decorations: We did the LED throwies and they worked out fine. We took our table runners down with us, but they were the pintuck type of fabric that doesn't really show wrinkles. We also had our chair sashes, which didn't show wrinkles either. For the sashes, we had steamed them and folded them flat, then put them into the space bags for transporting. It worked out really well! If you have satin linens, they may show the wrinkles more, and it might be worthwhile to get a travel steamer (or try to employ the steam function on the in-room iron). It'll all come together - don't worry!!
  17. it depends on where you want your updo to sit - higher, or lower. if lower, you can do either above or below, if higher, then probably below. I ended up doing both - had it above my knot, and when it fell out the WC tucked it underneath. I liked it both ways! let's see if I can get the image to work...
  18. Weather in November is overall great! Not too hot, not too cold. You'll be fine in Tucanes or on the beach. If it's too windy that day, they may suggest you move the reception to another location if you pick the beach. We were there in Nov 2012 for our wedding, and then this year for our anniversary. We had more rain this year than last, but it never lasted very long. Fuentes Gazebo is a great location. There's a photo on the official thread, plus links to Miriam's photos of each of the venues - scroll down a bit for the ceremony locations post. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/73076-official-el-dorado-royaleel-dorado-casitas-royale-thread/ They pushed for the 10-15% rule when I was married there. But ask your WC to be sure - we had 4 come onsite, which was over 10% for our wedding of 35, and it was no problem. There isn't a fee for the day of your wedding, if you host a private dinner event, but if they come on property another day (for welcome or rehearsal dinner, etc.) they will have to pay for the day pass. The rule is they can come on an hour before the ceremony - no idea how strictly they enforce that. Enjoy the bride's dress rehearsal!!
  19. hi there! what a GORGEOUS dress! I think you can still use the colors you'd want, but I'd go a little more sleek and simple with the bouquet. I'm not sure you can dress down that that dress, other than being barefoot! it's totally glamorous. that isn't a BAD thing, just go with it - it is a dreamy dress!!!! just because it's a beach wedding, doesn't mean you can't wear that fab dress. keep your hair loose and down, and accessories simple. rustic might be a challenge given the glam factor - but that doesn't mean you can't pair a casual-elegant look. take a look at Style Me Pretty and their casual-elegant category of weddings for some inspiration. here's one I like: http://www.stylemepretty.com/australia-weddings/2013/12/19/spicers-clovelly-estate-wedding/ and I love this beach wedding too: http://www.stylemepretty.com/florida-weddings/marco-island/2013/12/09/marco-island-wedding/ bottom line? be you. do what you want for your big day. employ the "so what" and just go for it!!

  21. Hi Nomie, here are a couple of threads on AS: Azul Sensatori Brides thread Official Azul Sensatori Thread thought they might be helpful!
  22. thank you!! and you are so very welcome. I think it'll be a call when you get down there - either indoors or out - depending on how windy it is. or it may be a call on hair-up or hair-down, veil or no veil. you can modify, and either way it'll be beautiful. have I mentioned how much I love this resort?
