  1. Thanks, Lindsey! That's definitely good to hear. I thought I was going crazy. And, congrats on booking the date. SOOO exciting!
  2. Hi ladies, We're booked for 9/2/2012 - I think. Did anyone receive a contract back from them or them acknowledging your deposit and wedding date availability is the only thing that happens? Getting a little nervous. Thanks. Anne
  3. Chrissy, Your pics are GORGEOUS! Congratulations!!!! It definitely makes me feel a little better since they don't give an option to bring your own photographer. I'm curious to know, if they ever sent you a price list for what additional flowers (for instance, the bridesmaids bouquets) would cost? Or were you able to customize that part and get the price lower?

  5. Hi Sophia, Sorry for the late reply. I'm still trying to figure all the wedding sites out. I'm Sikh/Hindu and my fiancé is Jewish/Christian so are leaning towards a symbolic ceremony or possibly either a sikh or hindu ceremony right before a jewish or christian ceremony so we don't offend either side of the parents. If we end up going the symbolic ceremony route, we are trying to figure out if there is a way for us to include elements of our heritage into parts of the ceremony, rehearsal dinner, reception and maybe a mehendi/sangeet night - just starting out in the planning process so looking for ideas of what other Indian brides did and are planning on doing especially in a destination wedding in an interfaith situation. Are you ladies having a rehearsal dinner and then one big wedding or are you planning multiple smaller festivities leading up to the wedding? Are you planning a mehendi event? If yes, are you flying in your own vendors or were you able to find someone local? I was told a Sikh ceremony couldn't take place outside a gurudwara. Did you find a work around that? For your friends who did the Hindu ceremony - did they fly in vendors or were they able to find someone local for the mandap setup and pandit for the ceremony? Like I said I'm just starting out so there may be tons of things I haven't even thought of so any ideas, suggestions, referrals, and tips are appreciated. Thanks, Anne
  6. OMG! I'm SOOO excited to have stumbled on this thread. We're planning our wedding in Sept. 2012 in Cancun area but the wedding planning is already stressing me out. I too thought planning a destination wedding would be more economical but the more research I'm doing, the more the expenses seem to be adding up. My fiance isn't Indian so we're still trying to figure out if we want to go with an Indian theme or make it our own with a fusion concept - leaning more towards the fusion theme at this point as Mexico doesn't seem very Indian theme friendly. We've just started the planning process so all ideas would be extremely appreciated. So far the resort we've settled on is Dreams Riviera Cancun. And, congrats to you ladies on your engagements. Hopefully you're a little less stressed than I am. Thanks.
  7. Ok, I realize this is waaay late in the time frame on this thread but I just joined and would absolutely love if any of you ladies could give me feedback on how things went for your weddings and what you all did - any ideas at all would be greatly appreciated. My fiance isn't Indian so we're still trying to figure out if we want to go with an traditional Indian theme or make it our own with a fusion concept. The only thing we've decided on so far is the resort and the date - Sept. 2, 2012 at Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa. We've just started the planning process so all ideas would be helpful. Thanks ladies.
