  1. Was there any tulle under your dress for puffiness? Usually that is what weights down the dress. I personally would just hack that out of the dress to take off the weight. I'm going with a mermaid dress in shantung silk, its thicker than chiffon but still very light. There is no tulle under this dress. My TTD dress is made of chiffon with bling and it is light as air! 5. Brendee, I'm so glad you posted this. We are 6 months and some change out till our wedding day and NO One from my side has booked. Not even my parents! I sent out my STD 9 months in advance, my invites 8 months in advance. My RSVP date is three months out before the wedding day. Come end of February I am sending out an email / call to my family and friends to make sure they are going or not going. If no one goes, if it rains or shines, I'm still getting married. I know as brides we like to plan ahead and know whats coming but try to relax. I hear there are better travel deals 1 - 2 months prior to departure. Not sure if this is true or not...

  9. Hi Ladies!!! I wanted to give you all an update on what's been going on with my dress picking. Its been a heck of a ride let me tell ya! So a recap..Dress A: This is my dream dress. I felt sexy, sweet and flirty in it all at the same time. I knew it was the ONE… but I didn’t buy it. The dress was $2,500. The numbers on the dress wouldn’t allow me to enjoy wearing it...for just one day even though it was my wedding day. I went to every bridal store in the Dallas area and tried on about 30 more wedding gowns, each pretty gown I compared it to The One. I realized NO other dress could hold a candle to it. I made up my mind, the next day after work I was going buy THE DRESS. The Next Day Comes... Ok, I have my dress set to buy after work. Now I need a wedding photographer for bridal and groom portraits on the beach. I have been reading up a TON of wedding blogs & forums on here. Brides ranked Del Sol Photography as the #1 to hire. My brother and uncle are photographers too, their work is beautiful so the wedding is pretty much covered but I still peeked at their so called "ranked #1 work". My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw their Underwater Trash The Dress photos. Here is a sample… http://delsolphotography.com/blog/content/galleries/?gal=456 The last shot is my absolute favorite….so HOT. Their style is sexy, sweet and flirty...AND I WANT THIS! It is just something you can’t buy in Dallas, Texas. I emailed them for a quote…and it was as a little more than Dress A. This time I didn’t hesitate. I booked them as soon as I could. Now what the heck was I going to do about a dress?!... I'll deal with that later. Come next Monday on my lunch hour I decided to go back to a dress shop I’d previously been to JUST TO LOOK. Their dresses are high end and my dress budget just went to Del Sol Photography. LOL! Dress budget now is $1,000. That day the salon was starting to pack up their sample sale dresses from over the weekend. I LUCKED OUT! I found this Justin Alexander dress for $300. It was spot clean and fit me like a glove! The onsite seamstress said that since it was also a mermaid dress she could make it a low back and put ruffles in it like my Dress A for another $285! My dream ceremony dress only cost me $585, I couldn’t believe it. I told dress shop owner that I am having 2 receptions after and can’t wear my ceremony dress for the underwater and she pulled another Justin Alexander dress from the sample rack. I nervously asked her how much it was…$150! I wanted a V-neck or sweetheart neckline so the seamstress said she could do that for $65. Two dress, one lunch hour = $800. Hallelujah!!!! Thank you ladies for all of your advice, in a way I got both dresses
  10. Hi CaseyMichael, I didnt' know if you knew this or not but Jasmine's Bridal Shop is on facebook. Like them on FB and you can see their premium work. I found my dress as a sample sale dress but before that I was about to order from them. I've read every page of this thread and they seemed to be the sought after company to order from. That 2nd dress is beautiful! Hope this helps
  11. I LOOOOOOOOVE Pinterst! This afternoon I figured how to make my redneck wine glasses for at home reception. VERY useful indeed. I have my beach wedding inspiration board and two at home receptions on my page. We should all follow each other to share! My screen name is the same. Julietisurs Give me a shout out ladies! Congrats on your wedding and engagements
  12. His family is from St. Louis and my family is from Souther California...and we live in Dallas, TX. There is just no way we could do this at home. I think you are right, I may have to do this before the ceremony. Thanks for your help! Quote: Originally Posted by 780chick I have read about brides doing it before and after the ceremony. Doable though. I also noticed a bride do it right before the reception. They just had two chairs and some tea set up and did it right before dinner. I didn't want to take up more of our guests day by adding on another event and my fiancé does not want to see me until I'm walking towards him. Soooo since there are family members on both sides that aren't going to Mexico with us, we will be doing the tea ceremony the week before we leave. This will give our families a chance to get to know each other and be part of the wedding a little bit if they aren't going. We are just going to serve some appies and drinks afterwards. We also had a small engagement party of 150 already lol. No AHR though. Maybe a small BBQ though.
  13. Hi Dianep, Did you end up using Funever for your wedding photos? Could you send/post some picutures they took? I'm thinking of using them for my Gran Porto June 2012 wedding
  14. Hi Labebita, I am glad you started this thread. My WC sent me their website. http://www.funeverphotos.com/ I would love to see more of their work as well.
  15. That is lovely! Thanks for sharing.

  18. Hi Atemec513, Sorry to respond back so late. I did end up using them here is what I sent them to print: Their high resolution printer did not print out as well as this pic. However, their prices are unbeatable. If they printed my invitations with this quality, I would be upset. For a Save The Date, it was money saved for me. I would use them again. I found another printer called UPrint.com that printed my RSVP postcards beautifuly. Prices are not bad. You ought to try them out.
  19. Brooches were the bulk of the cost. All my family and friends to help me collect the brooches for several months before I started this project. On Facebook, I post a picture of a brooch bouquet and wrote: "Does anyone have any rhinestone or crystal brooches, pendants, pins or rings they don't want or need anymore? I'm on the hunt for them to create this brooch bouquet. The bouquet requires about 50 - 95 brooches. I currently have 7...*sigh* 88 to go. Also if you see them on sale somewhere please let me know. Many Thanks!" Be sure to hit your flee markets & Goodwills. I hit the jackpot when I found a vendor at a flee market selling brooches for $1-$2 each. I bought the wooden dowel rod at Home Depot- $8 it only comes in 3 feet long - if you dont have a electric saw at home I suggest you buy it here they will cut it for you on the spot. Everything else I bought at Hobby Lobby. The entire project cost me $85 and a whole lot of hours trying to figure it out. The resort's standard bouquet was $100, but I wanted a keepsake. Its a great way to carry a bit of your family and friends down the aisle.
  20. Rmariono, Thank you for post this!!!! Its a great tip. I am wearing barefoot jewlery for the ceremony and high heels for the reception.
  21. Hello Brides! I few months ago I heard Miranda Lambert carried a brooch bouquet down the aisle. I had no clue was it was...I googled it and thought brooch bouquets were the neatest thing! I was on the hunt for one until I found out they ran for about $300 up to $1,500 on etsy. My Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget Begins....I'm going to have to make it myself. I looked up as many tutorials on this myself. It turns out there are two methods to a brooch bouquet. You may use: 1. floral tape and wires or 2. use a Styrofoam ball After many many tries using floral tape & wires I ended up frustrated and used a Styrofoam ball. The floral tape and wires made my bouquet lumpy and uneven. As many times as I tried to fix it, it just looked like a HOT MESS! Here are some pictures of my finished brooch bouquet with the Styrofoam ball. Back Side aka "his side": Front Side aka "her side": Close up of my side: Top view: Bottom view: Materials I used: -Styrofoam Ball (6 inch) -Wooden Dowel Rod (8 inch) -Hot Glue Gun -3 real touch green hydrangeas -Satin Ribbon -Corsage Pins -Spray paint (optional) -about 50 brooches (from eBay, local flee markets and sammoon.com) 1. Using a large kitchen knife, I started off cutting 1/3 off the Styrofoam ball. *Note* if you like a more round or ball looking bouquet cut off 1/3. If you only like a dome shape you should cut 1/2 off. 2. I'm a bit anal and did not want to see any part of the white Styrofoam ball so I spray painted it silver to begin with. You may skip this step if you like. 3. Layout your brooches of how you would want to see them on your displayed. 4. With the flat side down on the table, start to hot glue them to the Styrofoam ball. Position them as close together as possible. Hold each brooch to Styrofoam until glue is dry. 5. Start to cut the petals off the hydrangeas like this.. 6. Hot glue the petals to fill in the gaps between your brooches. Continue doing this around the ball. Make sure you are rotating and balancing colors and textures. 7. Once all spaces are filled, LET IT DRY. Once it is dry we can start making the bouquet handle. Use scissors or knife to make a 2 inch deep hole in the middle of the flat side of Styrofoam. Fill the hole with hot glue, then insert the wooden rod. Hold until dry. 8. Cut leaves off the hydrangea stem and hot glue to base of brooch bouquet. 9. Wrap the handle with satin ribbon. Secure with pins and hot glue. Done! I hope this can help some brides out there. Let me know if you have any questions!
  22. Thanks Tori! I have been looking high and low for inspiration and found this wine bottle cutter video on youtube. It came in today and I'll be giving it a whirl tomorrow night. I'll certainly let you know if its worth ordering! I bought giant conch shells and starfishes off ebay and will surround them with half wine bottles and candles like this.
