  1. Hey ladies, I'm getting married on May 22, but since we are doing the legal marriage here I actually wanted to incorporate the sand ceremony into the legal one we have here. We have sand from Bermuda where we got engaged, and I'm hoping to be able to incorporate sand from the area we will get married in. Is anyone willing/able to bring back a bottle of sand for me? I live in Calgary, so I can pay you back for shipping costs if you're not from here. Thanks so much!

  3. I've used Flight Center before for personal travel, and after a horrid experience I vowed never to use them again! Are you able to contact your Airline directly to see if they can help out with the issues?
  4. Hey Canadian brides! A couple things: 1. I didn't want to do the work twice but I finally wrote about my DIY Boarding Pass wedding invites, you can check it out on my Blog. If you need the templates I used please don't hesitate to PM me. All my supplies are from Canadian stores, so if you need any advice just ask! 2. Does anyone know a good place in Canada to get a flower for a wedding hair up-do? Thanks ladies!
  5. PM me your email address and I can send you what my travel agent received from the resort. On another note, I didn't want to do the work twice but I finally wrote about my DIY Boarding Pass wedding invites, you can check it out on my Blog. If you need the templates I used please don't hesitate to PM me!
  6. I'm back on the wagon! Just under 200 days to our wedding, so I'm needing to get myself toned up and bikini ready! Hopefully I will be able to maintain momentum through the holidays!
  7. Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't heard from Eugenia for a while.... On a positive note, I finally bought my dress!!! Took a trip to Vancouver to visit my best friend who is my MOH and I actually went to try on a Maggie Sottero "Reese" from a BDW.com bride! It fits, just needs some minor alterations and its good to go! So happy that stress is off my mind, I was totally cutting it close if I had to order one for our wedding in May! Here's a couple pictures, please don't pay attention to the fact that I look like crap!
  8. How does one get her hands on this magazine? DestinationWeddingsGuideCover.pdf
  9. Edible starfish? Where did you order them from, I have been searching for something similar for hours and hours!
  10. Hey ladies! Just noticed this thread, I'm May 22, 2012 at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum in Mexico. Invites are sent out and I'm finally starting to get some RSVP's. I'm meeting my MOH in Vancouver next weekend to do some planning and dress shopping! Looking forward to hearing from some May brides!
  11. In my personal opinion, wear what you feel comfortable in and what you'd like to wear. Whether its your first wedding or tenth, its still your wedding and you should follow what you want to do versus the etiquette imposed by others. (PS just because its a second wedding doesn't mean it should be any less special)
  12. We're staying in the Tulum section, but getting married at the Akumal beach location (not the hammock one). What day do you arrive? It may be nice to have someone to turn to with such close dates, feel free to email me at [email protected] to chat more!
  13. Hey! My date is May 22, 2012 as well! Which location are you getting married at?
  14. Hello! Thanks for the summary, its fabulous! I'm getting married at the Akumal Beach location on May 22, 2012 but we're staying on the Tulum side. Thanks again!
  15. All you girls are such an amazing help! And yes please if you could send me the info for Tulum restaurants and wedding options, my email is [email protected] Thanks so much!
  16. Hey girls, So I've finalized the departure, and now we officially have a wedding date! May 22, 2012 at 5pm. We're staying at the Tulum side, and our ceremony is at the Akumal Beach location (wasn't planning for that location, but now that we have it I am stoked!) My question is, being this far out do I contact my wedding planner or do I wait till closer to? And what sort of questions am I supposed to ask? Thanks for all your help!
  17. A little FYI on bug bites, I tend to react to any bite with a big red welt. So, if you get a few and don't want this to ruin your pictures take an allergy pill such as Reactine right after you get bit. Clears them right up!
  18. Hey, dunno why my first quote didn't work! But my previous post was for you!
  19. Awesome! We will for sure have to have drinks in Mexico! Let's stay in touch over the planning process, feel free to PM me or email me at [email protected]! ~Maja
  20. Wow! This is excellent, the most detailed Playa del Carmen and Mexico information I've seen! You have just saved me hours and hours of research! Thanks!
  21. The deposit isn't for the wedding ceremony, but for the trip itself with my Travel Agent. Our deposit hold 30 seats/rooms at the quoted price for 90 days so that our guest can start booking their trips!
  22. We just confirmed and sent in our deposit for the GBP Tulum, departure May 19th, 2012! I requested a May 22nd Wedding Date, but they only have 2pm available.....thoughts, is that too early? Anyways, I couldn't be more excited! But if anyone out there has any advice to pass along in what to ask, and how to get things started I'd be so very grateful!
  23. Time to crack the book then! Lol I've actually found its a great way to get my FI involved, at the start of chapter 2 where you can choose the words that you want to describe you wedding, we did it together and I was very pleasantly surprised with his answers, it was fun!
  24. My friend had her wedding in Mexico this past January, and she just gave me the secret to her wedding organization, a fantastic book! It's titled "Destination Wedding Planner: The to Ultimate Guide to Planning a Wedding from Afar" by Alison Hotchkiss. The chapters basically take you through the process of DW planning, and it has neat little pockets to store papers, pictures, receipts, etc! I found it in Canada at Chapters for $24, and if you need me to send you a picture of the front cover please PM me your email.
  25. No AHR for us either, no time to try and plan that much, plus we want to save money to redo our deck next summer! I've stayed in the Mayan Riviera a few times, we love it and chose it for our DW because it has things to do for all types of people!
