  1. Phil Steingard stays at the ME and they do not charge him the $300 outside vendor fee. We looked for a long time and have booked Julia Eskin. She is from Canada and lives in Punta Cana (we are getting married at the Jellyfish but staying at ME) Katya Nova also does amazing photography (also from Canada and lives in PC)
  2. You have to go to the bank and do a wire transfer. We were charged for it and I read on here that other brides were too. We tried to avoid doing it that way and tried other ways...such as a direct transfer online and I think my fiance tried another way too...but there was no way around it on our end. Print out the information and bring it to your bank and tell them you need to transfer into Mayte's bank account. I requested that Mayte contact me as soon as she received it and that took a few days, but she sent me a confirmation email. Keep a paper trail of everything!!!
  3. I tried to edit the posting above and it would not allow me to do so.... BRAND NEW! Never been worn, tags are still on! White wedding dress for sale $550 http://www.edenbridals.com/5096_p_221.html I absolutely love love love this dress and it looks AMAZING on, so flattering to the waistline! I am wearing the same dress for my wedding but in off white, so now I am selling the white. It is a size 8 but sizes run true to size/larger. I typically wear between 8 and 10 (although sometimes I can squeeze a 6, 10 on me is typically for the bust). There have been no alterations. The beading is amazing and looks fabulous bustled. Seriously, I can not tell you how much I LOVE this dress! The only reason I am selling is because I decided I wanted the off white instead. Please feel free to PM me with any questions!

  5. We are in Minneapolis, MN. Our wedding is at the Jellyfish on Feb 3 so we figured most guests will go Feb 1 to Feb 5. My aunt did find a regular room at ME through cheapcaribbean but now they are not available. Our TA has been using funjet as a supplier. There defiinitely are Elegance Club rooms (which people might just have to suck it up and pay the extra! some were already planning that or have already done that) We have been behind the game on things and only recently sent out our invites (although I have been keeping everyone up to date via emails)
  6. MINI FREAK OUT! We had a contract on rooms ready to go and then decided not to do that and have everyone book on their own. Now, every search engine and what my travel agent has available is only the adults only Elegance Club!! Most of our guests would be ok with that but at least one will be with a child (wedding is February 2012) and cannot stay on the adults only side...Is anyone else having the same problem? My TA doesn't know if they just took the rooms back or if they are sold out, she is waiting to hear from the resort for more information. Please let me know if anyone is experiencing the same problem!
  7. Can you elaborate a little more on the dj? Haven't really heard from anyone about that aspect. Did you have dancing inside or out? Did you give him the songs on cd or ipod or just the list ahead of time? Not sure how we should go about it all...
  8. I would love to hear others opinions too as I really don't know!
  9. Do you know if they have beverage service on the beach (order a drink from a server from your beach chair)?? I found that some resorts do not and I hope that ME does!
  10. Hi Liz, I can't wait to hear about your experience in November! We are doing the same as you (staying at ME and wedding a Jellyfish) so I am excited to see what was great, good, bad or horrible (hopefully no bad or horrible!) Are you doing either a welcome cocktail hour or dinner a ME?? What DJ are you using? We are going to use the Jellfish DJ but have not seen any reviews on it... our wedding is Feb.3! it is all going to come up so quick!
  11. I am interested in the skylanterns also, although concerned on the environmental impact. Please let us know if Mayte says they are allowed. I know some resorts do not allow them. We want a bonfire and Mayte said we would have to see how windy it is that day because of the jellyfish roof quote name="Digado" url="/t/56479/jellyfish-restaurant/430#post_1670064"] I'm getting so excited! November will soon be around the corner (yippie!) I was just wondering if any other bride out there has or is considering doing a butterfly release at the end of their ceramony? I haven't heard back from Mayte in a long time, as she was going to be looking into the price to do this for me. Also I have just seen another bride blog about this, and I thought I'd share it with all of you (because I think it's such a neat idea) there are things called Sky Lanterns that you can purchise for a very reasonable price and they look amazing at night! www.theskylantern.com November brides, what's everyones status on planning? Can anyone share any neat/different ideas to incorperate into our ceramonies/receptions? Guest count is now up to 80!! GULP
  12. Phil isn't really our style either, which is why I want to search all options! Although he does do great work, we are just looking for a little different. I will email Katya. I wouldn't mind doing all our pictures at the Jellyfish but I really don't want the seagrass in the background and I would like some shots without the boats in the background that are in the water there. I will send her an email. Thanks! Originally Posted by MNtoMX Hi Tori! Do you have price list for Katya? I asked ME for clarification on if we needed to pay the $300 fee to have a photographer for only a few hours and they said yes, for any amount of time

  14. in your communications with Julia, did she mention where she will be staying? We are having our wedding at the Jellyfish but staying at Majestic Elegance. I would really like to book Julia but the ME charges $300 for any outside photographer, even if your wedding is not there. So, if we wanted Julia to come to the resort for a short time (2 hours) we would still need to pay the $300. I emailed her but I know she has been traveling in Asia and not sure if she is back yet. We could book Phil S. and not pay the $300 as he stays at the ME and I think has some sort of deal worked out. I really like Julia's work and maybe we will just end up booking her and not have pics at the resort.
  15. I am sure if you give Mayte a couple of hours notice before going, she will be there. She is a very busy woman, but does seem to be very accommodating. It seems like Mayte can do whatever you want for decorations, if she does not have it then she will find it for you. I am relying on this as I do not plan to bring down a lot of decorations. Place cards and everything are included in the set up costs. We do not want too much for decor, so I will probably just collect pictures from other Jellyfish weddings and say what we like and what we do not like. We were planning a resort wedding and came across the Jellyfish and SO happy we did! Saturdays might be booked already OR might have a DJ party type thing (I saw this on their website and facebook, I would assume Saturday is a popular night for that) When do you want your wedding to be? We wanted a Friday so guests have a day to relax after the wedding as most people would leave on Sunday. We had to change our day so that we could book a Friday.
  16. There was a bride who had her wedding at the Jellyfish and Sandra arranged a semi private dinner at Sea and See; however, that bride also did a site visit and may have worked something out at that time. I suppose a dinner at the buffet wouldn't be too bad. We emailed another photographer and asked if she was aware of any nice beaches that we could access for pictures instead of paying the $300 fee. I know the photographer is traveling right now so I will have to wait to see what she says. I know this is all going to come up soooo fast!!!
  17. Five months....that is crazy to think! I haven't even sent my invites out yet! (althought website is up to date) What videographer are you using? I would also love to go all out but we are also having a reception in Minnesota and all these costs add up! What photographer are you using for the ceremony?
  18. We will just miss each other! We arrive 1/30/12 and leave 2/6/12! I am so excited, but finding myself frustrated with the little details (such as photographer fees!) I just emailed our first pick photographer and asked if she is aware of any great beaches for pictures outside of the resort and not at the jellyfish (I don't want the seagrass in our pictures!)
  19. Hello! My fiance and I will be staying at Majestic Elegance for a week in the beginning of February and having our wedding at the Jellyfish Restaurant. We started planning a resort wedding and found that the times/dates we wanted were not available. Even though our wedding is not at the resort, we will all be staying there (approx. 35 guests) I wanted to know if anyone else was running into similar issues. I asked if we could have a semi-private dinner at one of the al a carte restaurants; Sandra (WC) informed us that they could book an area of the Flavors buffet for dinner. I know there was at least one other bride that had a rehearsal dinner at See and Sea for many more people (and had her wedding ceremony and reception at Jellyfish) The other question I had for other brides is in regards to photographers. I understand the resorts motive to charge for outside photographers to come into the resort if you are having your wedding at the resort. However, I do not see the motive in charging $300 just for a photographer to come in for a couple of hours to take photos at the resort before leaving for the wedding ceremony and reception. When I talked to Phil S. he said that he stays at ME all the time so they do not charge him. I was hoping to use another photographer; however, it appears I may not have much choice. Has anyone else faced this problem and what was the resolution? Couldn’t we just pay the day pass and get some shots before leaving for Jellyfish?
  20. This is truly unfortunate! I am sorry that you have to experience this stress, especially since Jellyfish is where you were engaged and it obviously holds a special place in your heart! One thing I have done, and a suggestion for other brides-to- be, is every time I email Mayte or put a comment on Jellyfish’s facebook, I put my name and “February 3, 2012 wedding†somewhere in the communication (often times along with my fiancé’s name and last name) This helps me be reassured that our date and names are very clear. I am still waiting confirmation that she received the deposit so I hope nothing goes wrong there as we booked our trip last week! The other restaurant referred to is Kukua http://www.kukuarestaurantpuntacana.com/ and also looks amazing. There is s thread started on here and it sounds like communication has been great with the coordinator there.
  21. I spoke with Phil at length. We do not need his full $2,600 package as we won't be doing a trash the dress session and I don't think we need as long of a time for pictures. He can definitely work with you on pricing and accommodating what you want. We haven't booked our photographer yet but we might book him.
