we are choosing to an informal cocktail meet and greet at one of the resort bars! i think its a good compromise but i definitely dont think anything is necessary!

i understand how you ladies are feeling, my wedding coordinator is the same way. its always me emailing her, not vice versa. however that is just the way they do it at the resorts down south. they do a lot of weddings, so they just dont have time to email the brides to "check in". but my wedding coordinator is great at getting back to me any time i have a question or concern! we are just neurotic canadians lol

hi ladies, quick question: what exactly does one have to do to get legally married in Ontario? we are just having a symbolic wedding in Punta Cana, but I'm not really sure what we need to do to make it legal in Ontario. Like you, we just want something very minimal since we consider Punta Cana our real wedding. How does it work? We have to say words in front of someone and sign papers? Any help would be appreciated! thanks!

hi ladies! my guests are paying $1255 per person (taxes, flight, round trip transportation) for 7 nights at a 5 star resort in Punta Cana, DR. we are staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Punta Cana in April 2012. most of our guests have been impressed with the price. but the reason we chose Punta Cana is because its on the less expensive side (compared to Jamaica, Bahamas, etc) but it still have gorgeous beaches. we opted to go for less expensive because we wanted the best turn out we could have! and we are sssoo lucky so far, we have about 75 people coming with us! i think in the end the place you choose has to be the best for you, since its your wedding! but you have to consider your guest turn out as well, who you want to be able to join you!

i agree with the other girls, it definitely depends on your guests! we ended up doing the reception because we have about 75 people coming, so we felt we have to do something! we are not having a DJ however and are just going to have an ipod reception. we are trying to save money somewhere! in the end i think its whats best for you, your FI and the group your having!
