  1. I love the shoes so much I forgot what the dress looks like! Lol. I saw that dress in person and it's super cute, it's just a bad picture, makes it look like there's popcorn on it...
  2. How long are your guests staying in Jamaica? If they want to go for a week you could tell them they can book 3 nights (depending on when during the week you have the wedding) and then go elsewhere for the rest of their week. Ex: if your wedding is on wednesday then they could spend Sat-Wed at whatever resort they choose and then check in at the IRHB on Wednesday in time for the wedding. I'm not sure if this would save money after all or not, they'd need a travel agent to help work it out for sure. We made it clear to our travel agent that they have to be a guest at the IRHB the night of the wedding itself so that when our guests call to book she could pass that info on to them, otherwise they will have to worry about their own transport/daypass.
  3. A coworker of my MOH just returned from the Suites where they had the bonfire on Thursday night, not sure if that changes from time to time though so you should probably still check with the WC closer to the time of your wedding.
  4. Congrats and welcome! Do you have your date confirmed? That the best advice anyone can give you right now if not. There have been girls on here who lost their date in the blink of an eye because it was never properly confirmed by the WC. You'll get all the pricing details by email once your date is confirmed. The wedding itself is currently priced at $2100 u.s. but that could change by then. Have fun planning!
  5. I picked my dress!!! Went a touch over budget because I need to pay extra to lengthen it. Apparently girls my height rarely pick short dresses, but I don't care! It totally embodies the fun, different feel we want for our wedding. What do you ladies think?
  6. Since our wedding is turning out to be very casual I told my bridesmaids that their dresses didn't need to be identical. Just short and bright colours that don't clash with eachother. I'm finding alot of cute custom made dresses on Etsy for fantastic prices. Have any of you ladies had experience buying custom made clothes from any sellers on the site? All recommendations are welcome!
  7. Aston Station Bridal, they were having a Rivini trunk show. Being my first official "dress day" I had no idea what to expect. Noone asked me what my budget was so I was trying desperately to peek for prices, couldn't find them of course. So of course I fell in love with the $6000 one after trying it on. NOT in my budget. But I found 2 strong contenders, one being an absolutely adorable short dress. I'd never considered a short dress, but I'm happy that I have a much better idea of what I look good in now.
  8. Ok Ladies, so I decided that $400 or not it was not the dress for me. So tomorrow morning I'm off to my first trunk show in Carleton Place. Wish me luck!
  9. That makes sense since as part of your wedding costs you are paying for their food and drinks no matter which of three you are at. I suppose it might be an issue if you are also having your dinner at the suites if you are a beach guest and want to get drinks from the bars there. In my experience at other multi-level resorts like this one, they neevr mind people walking around from one part of the resort to another, they just don't want you ordering drinks/eating food and using amenities like pools without the visitors pass.
  10. I definitely want to make something myself as well. I've started making charm bracelets for my two girls but I'd like to add something else. I was thinking of asking our wedding photographer to take a really nice portrait of each of them with their significant others and surprising them after the wedding with a nicely framed 8X10 copy
  11. Wow that's stunning! I didn't even even think to look on Etsy for that. I've been scouring stores for a belt to go with my dress.
  12. Wow, it looks like an excellent replica! Did you send them a photo and they worked from that or was it one that they already had on their site? I've been considering them for my actual dress. Would you say the fit is pretty accurate or will you need to have it altered?
  13. Question for past brides (or those who are close and have had contact with the WC recently). Have any of you had success in negotiating trades on the wedding package? ie. if I am bringing my own flowers rather than using the ones included in the package can I have a couple more people free for the dinner? or 12 more pictures included from the photographer?
  14. We did e-vites and our friends and family LOVED them. I hate wasting so much paper and so much money on postage. I'm told it's socially acceptable to do them for a destination wedding anyway. If you go to Smilbox.com there are templates for really nice wedding invites. I took one of their online scrapbook templates and filled it with pictures of us, the captions told our story as a couple. Put it to music and suddenly everyone is emailing saying it made them cry/laugh/smile. It also shows you who has and hasn't viewed the invite so you know who to check in with to see if they actually received later.
  15. Has anyone heard of couples serving their own booze? For example I'd like to have the bonfire on the beach for our reception however we can only fit the open bar for 1 hour into the budget. If we set up a table with a couple bottles of rum and coke and some wine does anyone know if the resort will permit this? Or would it just be easier to tip the bartender really well in hopes that he'll stick around for another hour, lol?
  16. Did they request a deposit or can you just pay for it on the wedding day (or after)?
  17. Thanks! I was hoping it would be okay to contact the florist directly as it seems to be the faster way. I've read that Tai Flora is pretty busy so that's one thing I wasn't comfortable leaving til a month before the wedding.
  18. Quick question. I know that Rose Hall uses Tai flora for all flowers. Does that mean that I should contact Tai Flora now with my pictures for my bouquets or do I send my pictures to the resort wedding coordinator and ask her for the cost? I just don't want to leave it too late and then het there and find out that they can't do what I want.
  19. Those are gorgeous! I'm having serious invitation envy. After much debate we just sent out e-vites instead. I like the idea of doing really nice thank you cards instead though!
  20. Wow! Your dress/flowers/cake/tables are all stunning. Nice colour choices, it all looks sun drenched.
  21. If you want the bonfire it is a flat fee of $250 plus 7 or 8 dollars (domestic or premium booze) an hour/per person (beyond 15 adults) for open bar. I forget the cost per person for the hors d'ouvres, we are doing ours right after dinner so I didn't think anyone would be hungry just yet. Did you get the extra charges list when you booked? I already asked if they would honor the 2011 prices for us and they promised they would. I saved that email of course
  22. I heard about the beach party as well and was going for the exact same thing however we missed out on the Thursday spot and are now getting married on the Wednesday instead. From what I was told they start the beach party a bit on the late side (like 10ish I think) but they party all night. Someone told me they were out there til around 1 am. They had both live band AND a DJ at one that a friend attended and at another that my friend's coworker went to they had only the DJ. The beach bar stays open for the whole party as well, no food that I heard of. I am also booking the bonfire on the beach (since there's no party already that night). I only found one picture of it. it's in the Rose Hall Suites review section on here. It doesn't look like a super big fire so I don't think it will matter how hot it is. And it would appear that it is a little on the dark side so it's probably only appropriate for smaller groups.
  23. Just out of curiosity, am I crazy for not buying a BCBG dress I tried on this weekend in Montreal that fit me like a glove and was on clearance for under $400 because it didn't didn't make jump for joy or cry?
  24. OMG. This is insanely cute. I hope you don't mind her stealing a bit of the attention from the bride lol.
