  1. I THINK that the 300 limit is per person and it's not for personal items for your use. So your wedding dress should be fine. I've taken plenty of personal items that were worth more than that.
  2. We are doing something similar: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71190072/guest-book-display-message-in-a-bottle?ref=sr_gallery_1&sref=&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=message+in+a+bottle+guest+book&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=US&ga_spelling_corrected=message+in+a+bottle+guest+boook&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade
  3. Oh ok well that's awesome if you choose to opt it. I love the flexibility of having a small group, you can do a lot of small things. There are so many great restaurants in San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. I have been using this site http://trapperscabolist.com/ to find other restaurants to go to on the other days, and of course Trip Advisor. If you don't decide to have a reception on site you have so many options!
  4. So, I was searching around on the net and found this. I am not sure how many of you guys have seen it or plan on sending out pre travel newsletters but this baby is jam packed with lots of information like bar ours, restaurant dress codes and hours and a map of the resort. I hope it helps someone! http://www.amresorts.com/media/QRG/QRG_drelc.pdf
  5. I feel so far behind! I'm getting married May 25, 2012! I am on the fence about when to schedule my first dress fitting. I have been dieting and have lost about 30 pounds and I want to lose more but I don't want to wait to late for my fitting! Any advice? We are heading to Mexico on May 21st and some people are saying wait until the first of May. Do you think that's enough time?
  6. I have to agree with everyone else. It hits even closer to home for us because my fiance's sister and brother in law are professional photographers, specializing in weddings and my mom was adamantly opposed. You want to make sure you have someone that draws a clear line as far as professionalism and responsibility are concerned. I think family/friends may blur that distinction, even if it's unintentional.
  7. I'm getting married Memorial Day weekend, most of my guests are staying Thursday - Sunday and it's costing them about 1170.00 to fly from Atlanta and a little less flying from New Orleans.
  8. I am getting the basic package because it is complimentary with our stay and then doing everything a la carte because we wanted to use our own photographer cakes and stuff.
  9. I don't know if that is an option. We are having 25-30 people and the 65.00/pp includes the three events, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Did they quote you a price without the reception?
  10. Hi there! I am a little over two month out before my wedding at Dreams! Congrats on picking the place! Have you chosen a travel agent? I am working with TA Teresa, she is on this site and is amazing. She got me the room block and the rates. My wedding is in May, Memorial Day weekend, and for double occupancy we are paying 160/pppn for the Junior Suites. Also included in that is a site visit which we did take advantage of. It was a two night stay for my fiance and I and we went in December. Before we went we let Magda, our WC know which two items we wanted to try from each course of the menu and she had that all set up for us. I did not do a site visit before depositing but I did go before it was too late to cancel. I was pretty sure I was sticking with Dreams because of the wealth of information located here but I still wanted to go see it, it doesn't take much for me to go on a vacation. I hope this helps. I am still in the planning stages but of course am towards the end so please don't hesitate to ask me anything! Happy Planning!
  11. I answered this on another forum but I figured it wouldn't hurt to answer it again here. The 95.00 for the day of wedding is NOT in addition to the dinner price. So if you pick the 65.00 dinner, for guests staying offsite you will pay an extra 30.00. If you have guests that want to come over on days other than the wedding days it is 89.00 and they can pay it themselves at the gate. The passes are good from 11 am - 11pm and are for one entrance only...so they cannot go back and forth. Hope this helps!
  12. The 95.00 is not on top of the 62.00-75.00 that you pay per person for dinner...so for people staying off site you are paying an extra 20.00-33.00 depending on which dinner you decide to have.
  13. Hey Casi, Please keep in mind that the 95.00 is for the day of the wedding and you have to pay that. You can get your guests to reimburse you. I have guests staying at my timeshare near by so I am just going to eat the extra 30.00(95.00-65.00/pp fee) for the people staying offsite because I feel weird asking them for it back.
  14. Amanda, Did you ever consider just using the basic package that you get complimentary and doing everything a la carte? I have about 30 people and I am using my own photographer, baker, etc. so I too thought it was a waste for the majority of the package. It actually came out MUCH cheaper for me to just get the basic package, pay per person for the meal and use my own vendors. Just a thought. I hope things start to get less stressed for you!
  15. If your final count ends up being 10 double and 2 single...maybe the two single rooms could be the free rooms because otherwise you will get one double room free (5 paid double rooms is 6th double room free) and then not have enough double rooms to get a second room free because you will only have 4 double rooms left and 2 singles.
  16. I was told that the single rooms cannot count as one of the 5 rooms BUT a single room could be the free room. So if you have five double rooms booked, you will get comped a single rate room.
  17. I'm not sure if anyone else is doing this but I am sending my bridesmaids a card with a luggage tag and now I found these passport covers on Amazon. It just so happens that they all love red so it works for me but the are 2.99 so I just had to post them. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F4YUSE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&m=AWFDJE38WO1LH Then, I found these for 10.70 each. I think it's pretty cool and so I am considering these so that they can keep all of there travel documents in one place. http://www.hotref.com/Metropolitian-Deluxe-Travel-Wallet-p-2753.html The thing I LOVE about the 10.70 one is that it has a separate passport holder and a pen holder. Every time I leave the country I forget that I am going to need a pen on the plane to fill out my customs forms and I never put one in my travel purse.
  18. That's interesting about the slow response, Alina always responded to me quickly. And I am only using calla lilies so I guess I was sort of simple.
  19. Florenta is high. Dreams just started added a new flower vendor called Emporium.
  20. I bought badge ids from staples...and then yellow and gray lanyards from ebay. Mine basically look like work ids...
  21. I didn't want to wear a veil at first but my mom found her veil from 25 years ago so I had it cleaned and am wearing it.
  22. It depends on which menu you pick...I don't know if/when the prices will change but I am ordering from the silver menu so my cost is 65.00/pp. I actually sat down and did the math and since I am not using their photographer, their stylist or the trio, it was cheaper for me to just get the complimentary package and pay per person for the meals. Also, plain white ties, napkins, etc. are included but you can change the colors if you want. The price for napkins were 2.00 each and ties are 3.00 each...
  23. If you dm your email I can forward you the wedding guide.
